Fantastic food with fabulous service and an all around great time. One of the best restaurants in Portland. ALWAYS great!
Food delicious. Always enjoy eating here. Staff excellent.
confusion with my order caused me to give a lower review. I wanted to have the dining month pasta but I received the daily special. it wasn't what i wanted and it wasn't as amazing as the pasta special.
Lovely evening, delicious food, great service!
Highly recommended.
Great atmosphere, food was very flavorful, we will definitely be going back.
Mingo never disappoints. We came here for Portland Dining Month and had a great meal, some good wines by the class and a lovely environment! Love it.
I've been going to this restaurant since 2010. My favorite of all the great restaurants in Portland. This dining experience didn't disappointment me. If you haven't eaten here, treat yourself.
Caffe MINGO is my “Cheers”—— always feels like home, always welcoming. The bonus is perfect food, the long time employees who really DO know your name. Doesn’t get any better.
Their sugo is amazing! Great service. Quiet weds night. Totally enjoyable
Very personable and helpful staff; excellent specials
Always a favorite and our service and meals were excellent as always. Table situation near restrooms not ideal as not much room to move between and traffic disrupted the ambiance but still a lovely evening
Fantastic meal and even better service.
It was absolutely perfect!
Great food, service, and ambiance! A beautiful wine list as well!
Consistently delicious eats!!! The service is great and the atmosphere delightful!!
Overall great. Thx.
One is my favorite restaurants in Portland. Great Italian food, my favorite dish is the sugo. Highly recommend this place, make a reservation if it’s prime time.
Sugo was perfection, the ravioli was over-the-top! Everyone Mingo takes the extra time to make things special. ✔️💫💯
Loved our dinner at Cafe Mingo. Wait staff was very attentive and helpful with dinner and wine selections.
Caffe Mingo is consistently outstanding! Service is top rate as well.
Our server was rude and inattentive. My husband had one drink and then his glass sat empty for nearly the entire meal. She took our charcuterie board before we were finished. We asked what options we could make dairy-free and she only gave us the most expensive option on the menu. We were seated next to a curtain blocking the entrance and it kept billowing onto our table. Two of us ordered the trota and it was so acidic it was nearly inedible.
Cafe Mingo is one of my favorite restaurants in Portland, OR. especially since they now take reservations! The service is always good. Our waitress was fun and professional. The food is always good too and I love the ambiance.
drove 70 miles, looking forward to a intimate date night with my wife of 60 years. ordered a bottle of wine which was brought to us in a timely manner. Waitress asked us if we were ready to order which we did. Salad came, and before we were done with our salad the main dish came. Not more than 15 minutes from when our salad was delivered. Very disappointing time line. Maybe it was up to us to tell the waitress that we were not in any hurry? Living in the mountains and not visiting the city but a couple times a year, not knowing city protocol? With that said the steak, fingerling potatoes, and mushrooms were wonderful. Waitress did comp our desert. Will probably be back some day.
Every single part - dining, service, food, ambience- of the evening at Cafe Mingo was fantastic! I will certainly return!
Organized a surprise dinner for a colleague and the owner went all the way to play along. Worked out very well. Excellent food and wine and a cozy atmosphere.
Great experience and the team at Mingo were very helpful with our group. Great food, a nice wine list and a welcoming atmosphere. Thank you!
I’ve been to caffe mingo a few times but the food was nothing special this evening. I had the meatloaf as it was the featured entree for the evening. The sauce was very good, but the meat was under flavored. One of my guests got a pizza and it was completely disappointing, to the point we were convinced that they couldn’t have made the crust themselves. It was pretty terrible. After the excellent bread they served, we expected a pizza up to the same standards.
Great dinner and lovely dessert! Waiter even brought a candle for my daughters birthday which was the next day!
Really enjoyed our time at Caffe Mingo. Great service and atmosphere. I ordered the Spaghetti al Fiore and it was incredible. We will definitely be going back for more.
Table next to the door was cold every time the door was opened. Curtains & space heater are not enough to remedy the situation. Maybe a short wall?
This reservation was made for a birthday dinner. Instead of 3 people we only had 2. We were seated at a two top between the kitchen entrance and the bathroom hallway. NOT a very nice spot for my birthday.
The service was good and the aglio olio spaghetti was tasty but overcooked. The tiramisu was a huge disappointment- tons of whip cream on top of a little espresso rum soaked biscuit- not at all what I was expecting from an Italian restaurant. I won’t go back also because the noise level was so loud it was an effort to converse. Big disappointment.
Great food, great service. Portland is lucky to have this place.
This restaurant seems consistently to have good reviews and judged by the first-name-goodbyes as diners left, the night we were there, a lot of repeat business--always a good sign. The restaurant is small and somewhat crowded which makes conversation sometimes challenging given the noise level. But the service was very good--attentive but not overbearing. Wine and beer only; the wine list is moderate in size and mostly Italian--fortunately I recognized a few options, but I suspect one could get needed advice in making choice. I had the Insalata Mingo--essentially a Caesar salad--and for the entree, sugo di carne (braised beef and pasta) which was delicious; would order it again. Bread with olive oil was excellent. My dessert was a bit overpriced--$9 for a scoop of gelato with biscotti. If you go, be sure to have a reservation although there are places at the bar if you just wandered in.
Seated behind the curtain beside the door was a draughty experience - I wondered if it was just me, but turned around to see another customer with puffy jacket and beanie! A solution needs found to this issue to create the cozy atmosphere the open kitchen deserves. Some very good pasta options on the menu and an excellent wine list, but I might steer clear of the pizza next time which was a bit uninspiring. On balance, would be willing to give this restaurant another go with better seating.
Caffe Mingo: Always just terrific in every respect.
Great service, wonderful food exceptional evening
Great food, great service.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Portland. Intimate, charming with impeccable service and always delicious food. Great for date night or special occasion.
Food took way too long. The server was very apologetic. I think it took an hour to get our food
We loved this authentic Italian restaurant in Portland. We went as a family of six with our youngest being 10 years old to celebrate our oldest daughter's 18th birthday. They do not have a specific children's menu, but the waiter was very accommodating for our children. Everything was excellent ...food, service, ambience. Only negatives were that it was a little noisy where we were seated by the kitchen, making it hard to hear each other. And we would have like a few more pasta options on the menu. But would definitely go again with just my husband!
