Tucked in the Santa Monica Canyon, Caffe Delfini is an upscale restaurant that serves seafood and authentic Italian cuisine in a warm, inviting ambiance. The restaurant specializes in pasta, with a wide variety of familiar recipes cooked with a unique twist for a savory finish. Enjoy some sliced steak, dressed with balsamic sauce or a delicious serving of linguine pasta with homemade sauce. The menu also offers gluten-free fare for diners. Round off your meal with Caffe Delfini's famous chocolate chip cheesecake, a decadent mouthful of cheesecake, chocolate chips and chocolate flakes.
In addition to a fine selection of Italian and California wines, Caffe Delifni offers a tea menu that features everything from organic earl grays to green tea to caffeine-free herbal infusions. This restaurant is open all through the week.
Fun and charming ambience plus great Italian food.
The best thing about Caffe Delfini is that it's a restaurant where - especially in the back room - you can actually have a conversation. It's my favorite neighborhood place to go.
Food and ambiance was great food a little pricey
, but loved the place and the food. Definitely for special occasions. And a romantic dinner.
Average at best. Loud. Dark and a bit cramped. Food was ok. Nothing special.
The Branzino was incredible!
Our waiter, Hector, answered all our endless questions patiently and knowledgeably. He was there when needed. Terrific service and good food, too!
the best, warmest italia
We have had a few dinners at Cafe Delfini. This experience was an off night for the staff. We waited 15 minutes after being seated for water. Then had to ask for menus. They gave us 1 and 3 wine lists??? I then had to ask for another menu. Waited 20
minutes for our waiter to come and take order. Then waited almost an hour for our food. Not the best experience although other visits have been fine.
Local neighborhood restaurant with great food and service
Pleasant restaurant. Not too fancy or stuffy. Traditional Italian menu with good variety. Fresh fish special was really good. Modest-sized wine list but enough choices to satisfy. We all had different main dishes and they were all good. Appetizers were also good. Only thing mediocre was the bread!
We love Caffe Delfini. The food is incredible, atmosphere is intimate and friendly, staff is attentive and prompt. Highly recommend
Food and service were quite mediocre. SO much money for what you get. I live 5 minute walk away, hadn't been there for a long time and now remember why I hadn't gone back.
We have been going to Caffe Delfini for years, and it never disappoints. They are always welcoming, and the food is delicious, whether you would like to eat healthier or splurge on pasta. Caffe Delfini is great for a quiet dinner or for take out. They even have delivery.
We celebrated three birthdays and two anniversaries with our friends. The food and the service was wonderful. It was a beautiful evening.
I took a date to Caffe Delphine and we both thoroughly enjoyed the dinner, the ambiance and the food!
The service was attentive just enough. I recommend this cute little Italian restaurant steps away from the beach.
love this place. cozy. great food. wonderful service.
I had been to Caffe Delfini many times in the past but not for awhile and I was very disappointed. I ordered vegetable soup as an appetizer and it took a half an hour and then was completely watery. It was as if they cooked the soup up fresh to order but you can't make a good vegetable soup in twenty-five minutes! The entrees (I got branzino and my friend got salmon) were delicious but then we were left languishing without being offered a desert menu or our check. We finally went up to the front with our credit card and told them we needed to leave. The bill, with a 20% tip, was $77/person for the ONE appetizer (the watery soup), ONE glass of wine total (no other alcohol), two fish entrees with a half-order of plain spaghetti w/ olive oil, and one bottle of flat water. That is OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive. I won't be going back anytime soon, sadly.
We love this restaurant for it's neighborhood low key feeling yet elegant with excellent choices.
I had the home made pasta with shrimp with a marinara sauce - delicious!
The sea bass is also excellent! Service was friendly and unobtrusive! Overall, it's a very good choice
for a lovely evening out!
As usual this local spot hits the spot. Cozy space, good food, attentive service with the extra attention of owners JonPierro and Alex make this a special night out. Local regular crowd myself included speaks to “the boys” great touch.
Terrific food in a setting that feels like you're in an old neighborhood favorite. Great service and ambiance. Super for any occasion - from special night or just a quick quite dinner.
My favorite restaurant in the West Side of LA. The Branzino is consistently delicious. The service is impeccable and the ambiance is very confortable and cozy.
this has become one of most favorite local restaurants
Mediocre. Food was fine but service was not great. Staff not very accommodating.
We were celebrating daughter’s 6th birthday here
I love Delfini. It's my favorite place to go for a quiet, relaxed meal with friends. The food is good and the service is excellent. I've had one weird issue the last two times though which is after I make the reservation, they call the day of the dinner and ask if we can come fifteen minutes earlier or later. Both times I said that I'd have to check with the other people and they said, "I guess it's okay, just come at 7" and then when we came at 7, there were NO issues whatsoever. So I have no idea why they keep doing this and I wish they wouldn't--once I've made the reservation, the plan should be set. But that's a minor quibble--the place is a gem.
I’ve been eating at Cafe Delfini since 2003, and I believe it is the best Italian restaurant in the country. I’ve been all over the US and I’ve been to Italy several times. This is as close as you can get to the real thing without actually being there. The staff is always wonderful. It doesn’t matter if you are all dolled up for an anniversary or rolling in flip flops and a hoodie, you get the same great service, the amazing food, and the same satisfying experience.
Everything was great but the loud slamming of dirty dishes in the bin by the kitchen left a lot to be desired for an otherwise romantic experience. Food and staff as well as the ambience we were excellent.
Friendly, courteous staff and the pasta was some of the best in the city
Had not been her in a while and I can’t begin to think why. The best restaurant in LA!
Wonderful food, love this place! Wish it weren't so pricey - but then we ordered expensive stuff...
I love this place! I have been coming here for 28 years and it feels like dining at a friend’s house who also happens to be an incredible Italian chef. The food is consistently great, and the Penne Arrabiatta is the best I’ve had anywhere in the world, as is the Tiramasu. The only complaint I ever have is that, unless you ask for it, for me, the check can sometimes be too long in coming at the end of the meal.
Of all the old and new restaurants in West LA, it remains as one of my favorite places to eat.
We celebrate every birthday, graduation, anniversary and any other important events at this restaurant. It always up to the best expectations.
Fabulous food. Every time.
A consistently delicious restaurant! Cannot wait to go back!
I grew up in Los Angeles' west side, so have been aware of Caffe Delfini for a long time. The value for the price can't be beat. The food is delicious. The artichoke salad remains one of my top favorites. I enjoyed the Branzino (catch of the day) which was a tish over cooked, but still enjoyable. My friend has the jumbo shrimp special with home made spaghetti and it was perfect. The room is dated, but dark and quiet. i could actually hear my guest!
4 adults and 2 kids had a great dinner this past weekend. The restaurant is absolutely charming, authentic Italian owners and food, great wines and delicious food. Everyone loved their meal. We will DEFINITELY be going back!
I would go again. Loved the ambiance, food was very good.
Always a terrific dinner. Every time we go we ask ourselves why we don't go more often!
Disappointed in the food. The Caesar Salad was very mediocre. I expected better. Pasta dishes were average and served lukewarm. Service was outstanding. I would recommend for service and atmosphere if you don't have high food expectations.
Veal Milanese was outstanding, an exceptional meal. Great wine list. Highly recommend.
