Located in Phoenix(Ahwatukee), Arizona,.. Caffe Boa of Phoenix is a local gem with a flair for Southwestern flavors. There is a lively, bistro atmosphere and patio seating year round. The kitchen of Caffe Boa is seasonally-driven and serves only dishes with the freshest ingredients. Its menu changes often and features many chef specialties.
Start a meal at Caffe Boa of Ahwatukee with one of the classic antipasti, such as fried calamari or bruschetta. Larger dishes include house made ravioli, spaghetti with homemade meatballs, diver scallops seared and tossed with fettuccine, beef medallions and fresh grilled wild-caught Alaskan salmon.
I was not aware that there are two restaurants with the same name in the area and was visiting out of town. Even though I noted on the reservation that this was a "birthday" dinner for my wife - this little detail seemed to evade the staff in spite of a mostly empty restaurant that evening. The service was decent and the portions were more than adequate. It appears from reviews on other sites that I'm not the only guest that got the two businesses confused.
I returned a second night in a row with my wife and 16 year old daughter due to the excellent experience on the first night, and had a repeat of our excellent experience. We felt lucky that we happened upon this cozy moderately-sized restaurant (with patio seating) on our trip to Phoenix, so when we all hesitated when I posed the question, "Where should we eat tonight?" I mentioned that we could just go back to Caffe Boa to sample the specials and that suggestion was met with great enthusiasm. We sat in the patio area both nights and had excellent service, with a lively feel but not too noisy.
The first night I had the "Health Nut Salad" with salmon added, as I was not very hungry, but I did sample two excellent desserts, the Boa Buttercake and the chocolate brownies with ice cream, which both sounded good but tasted even better than expected. The second night I had the ravioli of the day (spinach), which was excellent as well. All of us had a terrific experience, which was a surprising additional highlight to our trip to the southwest. I wish we had a carbon copy in our hometown!
The food is good, but the portions are immense, so you might want to skip either an appetizer or a main course.
Atmosphere great. Came for nostalgic reasons used to come regularly yeas ago with friends who have since moved away. Wait staff were very friendly but service was exceptionally slow with very few other patrons in the restaurant. Food was fine but not the high quality we remembered.
We booked Caffé Boa on our Phoenix stay. It was pretty good as far as the food and service go. I got the Boa bow tie pasta and that was tasty. The white wine flight on the menu was not good and the wine tasted liked the bottles had been open a while. The rose was discolored also. Outside by the fountain was nice and good for kids. Overall ok value place for kids with good that was decent.
Great local place with ambiance and good food don't let the strip mall location fool you. I enjoyed the Sonoma salad which was delicious. Outdoor courtyard with fountain was very relaxing
Food is great here, service could be better. The waiters are very nice but not as attentive as they could be especially during a slow time. It is a nice quiet restaurant. We will definitely go back.
The service and food was impeccable. I would highly recommend.
We had a party of 4. 4 pasta dishes to perfection, two Cajun pasta, one gnocchi, and a request for Pasta Carbonara which was not on the menu but was fantastic. And great wine prices.
Sooooo wonderful! We went for our mom's birthday. Travis, our waiter, surprised her with creme brulee and sang Happy birthday with us to her. Completely made her special day! Loved it!
great food, great service & friendly staff ...portions can be rather large, excellent menu with options for everyone. Love the patio dining as well.
Another great meal at Caffe Boa In Ahwatukee! Marcellino is a great server and the food and wine were excellent. We took friends from the upper Midwest who have had a lot of sunfish and they raved about the stuffed sunfish special. A good time was had by all. Thank you Caffe Boa Ahwatukee!!!
I travel to Phoenix occasionally on business, usually dining alone. I always try to find a local restaurant, and Caffe Boa was rated well on Open Table. A bit hard to find, set back in a strip mall, but definitely worth searching for. I'm often amazed at the attractive decor and ambiance once you get inside a location like this. Service was very good, with interesting and reasonably priced selection. Their 4 variety crostinis appetizer is a meal in itself. The Tiger Prawns with Linguini also - excellent - a very nice portion size to share or take home for another day.
Valentine’s Day. The quality of food wasn’t that good. I could tell that it was all just microwaved. Wasn’t fresh. Soup was cold. Ravioli wasn’t presentable and wasn’t good. Butter cake was too hot from being microwaved too long
Only hitch was that they were out of two consecutive meals I ordered. But they comped the third and brought me a free drink, do they handled it as best they could.
It was OK. The food was OK. Nothing was excellent. Not crowded at all. There must be a reason.
Easy to find....off I-10 and Elliot road. Tucked away at the corner on a strip mall, it's very nicely decorated making for an inviting, comfortable. Dinner selections were diverse providing something for each of us. Service was excellent, and prices were in line with other similar restaurants. We'll definitely go there again.
We have been enjoying the wonderful food, staff and ambiance at Caffe Boa since we had our engagement party their 13 years ago. The food is always fresh and delicious with daily specials. I always go for the butter cake too as it is so rich and tasty!
Great surprise! Pulled off the freeway while visiting Phoenix and enjoyed a wonderful meal! Great service! Great atmosphere! Highly recommend!!
Travis and his staff are awesome. They never disappoint.
Hadn't been to Cafe Boa in a long time. Went out with friends for dinner. Food was very mediocre. Also we all felt that the waiter, who was also the bartender, was hurried. Did not get the feeling that anyone really cared to make this a fun and/or memorable experience.
Food was delicious ! Patio dining was super cute with twinkly lights & a fountain.
Delicious as always, one of my favorites for business and pleasure!
Have eaten at Cafe Boa several times and have never been disappointed . Casual ,intimate place with excellent pasta options. Specials appear to always include several fish options and steak. The calamari appetizer was big enough for sharing and was perfectly cooked with a delicious spicy marinara for dipping. The mushroom ravioli and the Bolognese pasta entrees were equally wonderful. Finished with the dessert special..not usually a bread pudding fan but can never go wrong with chocolate ( it was so good am reconsidering bread pudding as a dessert option). Luckily for take home boxes or would have waddled out of there! Our waiter was attentive despite being very busy.
I had the Lasagna and it was outstanding. I was told the recipe is from Southern Italy. Bravo!
The host, Matt was very attentive and sat us at the best seat in the house. The food was amazing and restaurant conducive to conversing! Loved it!
None of us had been to Cafe Boa in quite awhile, and we were all disappointed in the food. Was not as good as we remembered. I used to go crazy for their shrimp bisque. This night it was just okay. Other dishes were under seasoned/bland.
This is perhaps the best restaurant in the Phoenix area. The food was outstanding!!
I went with my wife and another couple after our friends asked us to find a place with a patio. I've eaten here before and enjoyed my meal inside but never the patio. We had a great Long Island Ice Tea at the bar while we waited for our friends. We really enjoyed dinner on the patio and it's very private and enclosed. I had the Lasagna which I highly recommend. The portion is almost big enough to split so I gave a taste to everyone at my table. Everyone thought it was fantastic and on a cool night, the patio is the place to share dinner with a few friends.
Went for dinner on Mother's Day with my husband and daughter. We opted to sit outside but almost immediately regretted the decision- the misters were spraying and dripping directly onto us from above our table and the water fountain was splashing the chair closest to it. They moved us to another table but still drippy. They finally turned the misters off when other tables also complained. Given that it was a holiday, we assumed they would be staffed accordingly. We waited over 15 minutes to even be greeted- and that was because my husband went back to the hostess stand to ask. The whole meal was unnecessarily slow- they were clearly WAY understaffed for the evening. They brought me a complimentary glass of wine to apologize for how long everything took- which was nice, but I was driving and I didn't really want to drink it. They gave me a dried out rose at the end of the night too. I would've rather see them focus on getting us a quality meal in a timely manner versus running around handing out flowers. We've dined here before and enjoyed it, but this makes us question if we'd go back. Other tables around us flat out left because their meals were taking so long- but we didn't really have the luxury of waiting for a table somewhere else because we had our kiddo with us. Overall it spoiled the specialness of the day for me.
I'm a new resident, having lived here several years ago, and was delighted to know that caffé boa was still in operation. It was Mother's Day and I met my daughter for dinner and we had a lovely time , food was wonderful as always and we were each presented w a rose upon leaving.
Mother's Day and the kitchen was short staffed. Reservation was at 12:45 and yet we didn't get our food until after 2:00 PM. One other time that we went to Caffe Boa, a similar thing happened. There were many upset diners last Sunday. We had to miss the movie that we planned on seeing. they need to figure out their staffing issues. The crew working was working hard and trying their best, but they were put into a bad situation.
Food was good, Service was VERY slow for Mothers Day, reservations were made but seemed this caught the staff/kitchen by surprise anyway..
Definitely a hidden gem within Ahwatukee.
The service can be a little slow, but that's like due to kitchen prep time. And frankly, because the food is so good, it's definitely worth the wait!
Would highly recommend, and we will definitely be back!
We thought this was the same restaurant as the Cafe Boa in downtown Tempe...it is not. Does that disappoint us? No. It is just a different menu. We REALLY enjoyed our lunch experience here. Our server was very helpful and had a pleasant and clever personality....personable.
I like their patio dining. I have no idea what it would be like to sit inside, as far as noise goes. The patio is completely enclosed from the parking lot by vines. So you are not looking out at a parking lot and cars. I really like that a lot. I had the bowtie pasta and it was outstanding. My daughter had the gnocchi, and it was also outstanding. I am looking forward to taking my husband there now. It feels quite neighborly and "local". It is a bit of a drive for us, but...that is fine. So happy we went there!
Been going to Cafe Boa for over 20 years. Food is so fresh and delicious. Hidden gem in Ahwatukee!
