Housed in a National Historic Building, c.1835, and in business since 1981, Café Vermilionville is a locally-owned, award-winning culinary establishment that serves innovative, upscale creole fare. The restaurant features an expansive glassed in main dining room overlooking the courtyard, a full-service eat-in bar, private dining room(s), and offers personalized event planning services to make your small gathering or big affair ones to remember for a lifetime. The ambiance is carefully designed to be reflective of its historic time period while fusing current day furnishings and original art - a true celebration of the South Louisiana vernacular.
Highly recommend!!, I would like to thank the whole staff for making our 10 year anniversary so special, thanks to rebeca our waitress she was great . The food was amazing , from the starters to the desert , great , thanks again
First time to this restaurant and it was fantastic. Lawrence our server was a professional, our food was delicious, and the dessert were wonderful. Can't wait to go back!
The menu is reduced due to COVID which is understanding. The food is good if not great but I would stay with Fish or Steak here. The go a bit over and above to make the dishes interesting, which you'd expect.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our Anniversary with drinks and dinner. We arrived and were polity welcomed and brought to our table. Social distancing was being observed by everyone, but with allowable visits by friends and wait staff. My Old Fashion was awesome. Waiter was excellent as was the food. Try the Turtle soup, it's great.
We will go back.
We always enjoy dining at Cafe V. The atmosphere is quiet and the decor pleasant. The food and service have always been top notch. Dining on the patio is a relaxing way to spend an evening, particularly when they offer musical accompaniment. We have been happy to spend our special occasions at this restaurant.
This may be the best meal I’ve had in the Lafayette area. My husband and I were thoroughly impressed. The food was not only delicious but also beautifully plated. Our server was attentive without being overbearing. Additionally, the location is an architectural dream. Everything about our evening exceeded our expectations.
My husband and I went for dinner to celebrate our anniversary and we were not disappointed. Every single detail was perfect, and the anniversary card we received from the staff was the icing on the cake. Cafe Vermilionville will definitely be our go-to restaurant for date nights and special occasions in the future. Absolutely fabulous!
Okay. Our last experience here 4 or 5 years ago wasn’t so great. This time the service was great - go Davis! The cocktails (French martini and Raspberry martini) lacked any real taste and had no pizzazz. The scallops and red snapper were tasty, the potato garnish was not. The strawberry tart had almost zero strawberry in it. All in all, a better experience than previously, but some work still needs to be done.
Absolutely fantastic! Service was amazing, food was some of the best we’ve ever had. Sweet personalized card on the table when we arrived. Cocktails were delicious! Will definitely come back for a special occasion.
Fantastic restaurant! Great fish dishes as well as stead and gumbo! Love the ambiance too!
Wow, first visit and was not disappointed. A couple of French 75’s to start the meal. Wife ordered the crawfish beignets. She thought they were the best she’s had, crunchy on the outside and filled with a wonderful creamy cheese and crawfish sauce on the inside. I chose the foie gras. It was delicious.
Warm spinach salad was full of goodies. For our entrees, the wife chose the coconut snapper. I chose the pork chop. Both plates were well put together and were delicious also.
Due to the virus pandemic, the menu was shorten, but enough choices to make us happy. Cannot wait to return and enjoy a full menu. This place knows how to prepare great food. Oh and the service was on spot.
Thanks for a great meal.
Virus protocol was very good and appreciated. Food is consistently good.
Was a great evening with my wife. The food was delicious and we enjoyed the new dessert item of the strawberry cobbler!
Excellent food, great service, wonderful atmosphere, all around one of the best experiences in Lafayette! I’d recommend for anyone!
The service was great. The food was fantastic. The owners welcomed us with open arms. They made us feel like we were part of a family.
The food was phenomenal and the service was outstanding! It was a wonderful place to celebrate out 10th wedding anniversary!
Every time we go hear we always have a wonderful dinner. Service and food are exceptional.
Everything was great. We look forward to returning.
Very good food, drinks, and atmosphere. The appetizers and desserts were amazing! The main dish did not disappoint. It was a great date night with my wife. I would highly recommend and will be going back again.
Everything about our experience was top notch. We greeted and were seated as soon as we arrived. We sat near the window in the main dining room with a wonderful view of the courtyard. Our server, Paige, promptly brought us menus and water and informed us about the specials for the evening. We ordered a bottle of wine and Paige served it to us within minutes and did so with professionalism. We started with the bacon wrapped shrimp that were served with this wonderful Asian style sticky garlic sauce. The shrimp were tender and the bacon was nice and crisp. Lovely savory starter. My guest had the steak Louis XIII and I had the Coconut snapper with jalapeño herbed rice. The steak was cooked perfectly and the fish I had was hands down one of the best meals I have ever had the pleasure of eating. From the food to the service to the atmosphere, everything was top notch. Andrea and Ken have done an amazing job and their team is the best in the city. I would highly recommend Cafe V to anyone living in or visiting Lafayette as a must!
Wonderful food and peaceful environment! Love this place!
Wonderful dining experience especially if it is a special occasion.
Cafe V has always been a go to in Lafayette. I have eaten there since the day it opened, and though I live in Austin, I go whenever I am in town.
Cafe V went above and beyond to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for our family! Looking forward to more outdoor dining opportunities.
It was lovely, as always!
When dining Friday at Cafe Vermillionville for the first time since the lockdown, it was like walking back into a a family that didn't change at all. Everyone was as courteous and on point as they usually are. As expected, the food was fantastic and the atmosphere was intimate and relaxing. We will be back soon!!
A nice place for a quiet dinner with friends. Food was excellent and, yes, their turtle soup is better than Commander's Palace in New Orleans!.
Outstanding food, service, and ambiance. The Turtle Soup, Seafood Gumbo, Grouper Acadien and Coconut Snapper were all excellent. Highly recommended.
My wife and I celebrated our anniversary there Saturday. We were both impressed with the quality of the service and the atmosphere. Our server Brandon was both gracious and friendly. The food was absolutely incredible and the desserts were sinfully delicious. We found an anniversary card signed by all the staff on our table. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and will most assuredly be returning To Cafe Vermilionville.
Pleased as always...
Valentine’s Day Celebration
Great place to have a nice meal and unwind. Fish dishes are great and gumbo is outstanding!
Hadn’t been there in quite a while. Really enjoyed our evening. Will be returning soon
Was a great date night. 10/10 would recommend!
The service was outstanding , the food delicious and the atmosphere incredible. We'll be back!!!!
My husband and I got there the waiter greeted us and allow us plenty of time to drink a glass of wine and then check on us. It was just the right amount of attention and NO rushing. The food was outstanding! It was a beautiful old house with a fireplace. Just a really lovely evening!
Meal was great! Service was terrific
The shrimp and grits were probably the worst I’ve ever had. I’ve had shrimp and grits all over the south and these are the worst. My wife had the pork chop and it was ok, there should be an option for a side other than the collards because they were barely edible.
Amazing experience. Disappointed that they didn’t have a cocktail menu. Would be nice to have some local specialty... we enjoy trying new things. The food was amazing! Everything done to perfection... we are looking forward to returning
It is our favorite date night restaurant.
Enjoy! I recommend the duck entree.
