Cafe Tiramisu Ratings and Reviews
We ate at Cafe Tiramisu once before. At that time, they were short on wait staff and the service was slow. We decided to give them another try and again, they were short on wait staff. The service was incredibly slow and we didn’t get all the items that were ordered. Never did a manager or owner come over to apologize or say anything about our slow service. I asked our waiter if there was an owner or manager there and he pointed to a man in a vest and said he’s the owner. As we left I spoke to him and he denied that he was the owner and said he was short on staff and there wasn’t anything he could do. He acted like he really didn’t care. Needless to say, we will not be going back. We suggested the restaurant to our friends and we were extremely embarrassed. The food is good, but they appear to have recurring issues with staffing and service.
It had been a couple of years since I'd been to this restaurant. There were only 3 tables occupied at 6:00 despite the nice weather. The food was okay nothing special for the prices. There are too many good Italian restaurants in the city to return to this one.
I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I definitely would return to try more dishes. Everyone thought it was great. Everyone loved the clams and mussels dish. Service was well-timed and friendly, wines were affordable."
Dinner was wonderful, always feel like I'm visiting family. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary. Started with the grilled octopus which was cooked perfectly and was light and the lemon vinaigrette was a nice touch. My husband ordered his favorite homemade pappardelle pasta with 3-meat Bolognese (beef, veal and pork), our friend had the Salmon (perfectly cooked and flaky) and I had their Petrale Sole that was light pan fried, jalapeno risotto with crab meat and lemon piccata sauce. All dishes were very good and fresh. Seafod is delivered in the morning, never frozen and fresh on a bed of ice. We topped the dinner off with their homemade lemoncello and it was the perfect palate cleanser, just enough sweetness to balance the fresh lemon taste. We visit Café Tiramisu every time we are in San Francisco (every year) and we can't get enough of their homemade pasta (best pappardelle and gnocchi) and fresh seafood dishes.
I have been to Tiramisu many times thru the years. It always was the place that you are welcomed with ancient Italian sites - this last time we were met with smells that were not very appetizing - some cleaning product smells had taken over the garlic smells! we stayed anyway- however we shall not be returning till they do something about it! and the garlic smells are back! It is sad as Cafe Bastille and Tiramisu are the staples of Belden Place…
The food at Cafe Tiramisu did not disappoint in the least, it was superb. I had the grilled octopus, the salmon in sweet potato puree and the classic -Tiramisu dessert. They were cooked to perfection and the flavors were on point. The only drawback for me was in the ambience, where we chose to enjoy the beautiful afternoon by sitting outside, unaware that in a matter of 15mins we would have 2 dogs and their respective owners seated right next to us for the duration of our meal. I like dogs, but would've prefer not dining with them in such a nice restaurant, and especially not for my special occasion for going there initially.
Wonderful early spring evening dining outdoors in San Francisco. The service was fantastic, we were given plenty of time to relax and enjoy a glass of wine prior to ordering and the food was delicious. We had octopus , Caesar salad, pasta and fish all were excellent but what Topped off the meal was delicious Tiramisu! Also a reasonably priced wine list.
My wife had the Petralle Sole. which was done in a lemon sauce. It had to be the BEST fish dinner I ever tasted. My meal was good but hers was outstanding and I tried to have her give me some of hers but she would have none of that. Just kidding. Definitely a place we will go back to.
Celebrated our anniversary at Tiramisu and we will definitely be going back! Food was exquisite, especially the veal meatballs! Brought our own high end wine, no problem from the restaurant. Felt very welcome and really enjoyed meeting the owner, Guisseppe! While most people frequent Tiramisu for lunch due to Financial District location, we found dinner to be less crowded and much more personal.
