Best gnocchi in North America. Truly pillows of Love.
Our dinner at Cafe Tiramisu on Friday, December 6th was absolutely delicious. This is the best Italian food in San Francisco. I had the most delicious cioppino I've ever had. There were seven people dining with me, and every single person loved their dinner. The homemade pasta, risotto, and desserts were scrumptious. Both owners made it a point to make us feel extremely welcome and taken care of. I highly recommend Cafe Tiramisu, as they consistently provide amazing service, atmosphere, and food.
We hadn’t been here for a while, so decided to check it out for lunch with a friend who was here from out of town. When we were done ordering, the waiter who may have been the owner/manager said “is that all”? Here are some friendly alternatives you could’ve considered instead. “Would you like me to leave the menu with you in case you decide to order something else?” Or how about “please let me know if there’s anything else I can help you with”. Or just thank you. Manners please. The buratta was not fresh, the tiramisu was made elsewhere (we saw the cartons) and not in the basement as they claimed it was, and the chicken while moist, was over salted. There are so many other great options in SF.
Reserved a table for Sat. night for 4 people. reservation honored on time with the choice of inside or outside. we sat indoors. I ate the PAPPARDELLE, pork and beef ragu which was excellent. Good portions, not too big. For dessert we shared tiramisu & chocolate cake. Tiramisu won over everyone. Servers were very attentive throughout meal with water & drinks.
My mother and I came to San Francisco for a weekend getaway. I was looking around for Italian places on yelp and the hotel concierge recommended this place. So it was meant to be. We walked to the restaurant for the hotel and we couldn’t find it. Turns out this gem is tucked away in an alley. The reservation was for indoor seating; we were seated right away. There’s dim warm lighting inside. It’s small; the kitchen looks like a small little room. The menu is also kinda short. The grilled octopus was our appetizer. It was pretty okay. The flavor was amazing I just wish there was no slimy parts. My mom ordered the risotto and grilled prawns and I ordered the black ink linguini. My pasta was topped with clams, mussels, crab, scallops, and prawns. The food is out of this world!! We will be back for the tiramisu dessert!
Cafe Tiramisu definitely overdelivered. We had a party of 25 people and they we attentive, quick and the food was delicious.
I think this is not an "obvious" restaurant everyone is going. The experience was extremely pleasant as the meals impressed a group of media who has eaten in some very nice restaurants in Latin America, the USA, and Europe. The fact the noise is low is also a winner. The empathy of the service is unique, in which, at times, the host is somewhat sarcastic. Great experience.
Solid but not spectacular. It was a slow day for lunch so not much going on in the restaurant.
We just came back from Rome. Eating here is as if we are still dining and savoring exquisite Italian cuisine, except, we are here at home in San Francisco!!!
We were there early on a Saturday night. Everything was spectacular. Meatballs are always delicious and this was no exception. Our entrees and desserts were also scrumptious. We will be back soon!
The food was wonderful especially the meatball appetizer and pappardelle. Service was attentive, engaging, and fun. It was one of the best meals out my wife and I have had.
The food here was absolutely amazing! The owner, Guiseppe, was a delight and we enjoyed talking with him. This restaurant is a must when you are in San Francisco.
Would highly recommend this place. Rivals my other fave Italian Restaurant in Georgetown. (D.C. area) The Tiramisu you must try! Best I’ve ever had!!! Can’t wait to come back!
We started with the pappardelle - split between two of us. FABULOUS! Very fresh pasta and the gravy was outstanding with shredded beef and pork. The dish was moist and flavorful. The chicken breast was cooked to perfection, also flavorful bringing in some seasonal veggies to complement the artichokes and arugula. While the food was wonderful - the service was exceptional. Everyone made us feel like “regulars.” Thank you for a fantastic evening!
From service to food to ambiance...what a great place to enjoy the company of friends or colleagues while feasting on an amazing meal! Great job Cafe Tiramisu...see you soon!
The waiter was unfriendly and inattentive. The portion size of the entree for our client guest appeared to be the same size as the split portion that my colleague and I shared. We would have asked our server about it but he was nowhere to be found. I’ve dined here many times - one of my “go to” choices for business lunches, but was let down on this occasion.
We are locals staying in the city while our power was off due to the fires. The server, whom we believed to be the owner was less than courteous. For starters, he served people the wrong dishes. We had to track him down on several occasions to bring salads.. Not to mention, he served Chardonnay at room temperature and we waited with empty glasses entirely to long to receive the room temp chard.. His solution, sit the wine in a bucket and wait for it to cool down.. Not professional for a 100 bottle of wine!! Lastly, no one in our party thought their food was even average...
Needless to say i don’t recommend Cafe Tiramisu unless you’re an out of town visitor looking to get taken advantage of.
Great service! Great food! Excellent dining experience for the entire family!!!
I have been going to this restaurant for over 20 years and it never disappoints. They change the menu frequently and do many seasonal dishes. They keep a few items on at all times namely the Veal meatballs and the mussels and clams in several different preparations. I have to have both each time. The meat sauce for the pasta is authentic Italian, like my grandmother and mother made and it sticks to the pasta and is not pasty like some others I have tasted. Service is good with the owner watching over everything and serving as well. It is authentic Italian food for sure.
Every person in our group had an incredible dinner. From the octopus appetizers, the salmon and risotto and rack of lamb to the exquisite desert it was simply perfect.
Loved my dinner. The pastas are delicious. I’d highly recommend Tiramisu for a wonderful evening.
The waiter is very welcoming and the serve you right away, the food was to die for. The Risotto was so delicious
They were really hospitable and professional. Went for a celebration and they added to the experience.
Excellent service, food, ambiance. I love introducing people to Cafe Tiramisu who have never been before - they are always very happy to have "found" a new favorite restaurant!
When we visit San Francisco we always make sure to have dinner here. WE are never disappointed. It is a must eat place.
Good experience and great food.
Housemade pasta, fabulous fish - what's not to love!! Great TGIF place to catch up with old friends.
Café Tiramisu is a San Francisco Classic. They have been serving patrons for over 30 years. Pino & Giuseppe have the formula down! My favorite restaurant in SF!
The restaurant was recommended by friends and we soon learned they were absolutely right. This is the best restaurant for Italian food in the city. We dined there for lunch and all the entree’s were well prepared, nice presentation and delicious. The service is fantastic and the owner of the restaurant took the time to come to our table and greet us. I highly recommend this hidden little gem if you’re looking for an authentic Italian meal.
Service was terrific
Cafe Tiramisu is a beautiful restaurant for dining in or outside. The food is exquisite and elegantly served. I went to celebrate my birthday and so my cannoli came with a candle and a rendition of Happy Birthday. And we received the traditional free glass of limoncello at the end of our meal.
The service can be improved. Unfriendly, not efficient and not attentive at all.
Service was poor! Waited more than 30 minutes standing outside in the cold before being greeted, despite having made and confirmed reservations. Eventually we were seated at worst table, looking directly at the man washing dishes in the kitchen and staircase to restroom, even though several other tables were available. Food was good but we weren’t served for an hour. Very disappointing celebration for our 30th anniversary! We’ll never go back.
One would think the (Italian-speaking?) restaurateur knew the difference between linguine and spaghetti - alas not here. I had ordered linguine with clams and received spaghetti. When I pointed this out to the waiter, the owner came to our table and kept talking about freshly made, though I kept saying but these are spaghetti. He offered to give me something else, but at that point, I just accepted the spaghetti. The entire dish was very salty and the clams were slightly overcooked. My dining companion liked her pasta but thought the service was lagging, which it was.
The service was wonderful! We all found something amazing to eat and enjoyed the beautiful ambiance.
The food and service was amazing! I will return on my next trip to San Francisco. Everyone in our party of 5 loved there food. We had both seafood and homemade pastas.
This was an amazing last minute find. We had the mushroom gnocchi, prosciutto wrapped snapper, steamer clams, oysters on the half shell. We could barely make it home, we were so full. The service was amazing too. We will defiantly come back next time we are in town.
Cuisine was fine but without surprise. It was the classic fare that you expect to find in a good American-Italian eatery. Service was good but lacked warmth. General atmosphere is a little lackluster. Not a bad experience, but certainly not a destination for foodies, or for a special evening.
We couldn't have been more pleased. Homemade pasta and excellent drinks.
Great food fun outside patio dining
