Cafe Soriah Ratings and Reviews
The food was good as always, but maybe not as good as the last time I visited. They need to loose some tables and have larger tables (not enough room for appetizers) . It was VERY crowded which led to it being very very noisy. I could not hear the other 3 members of our party.
I have always enjoyed their Steak Dianne (and this visit was no exception) though I will note that in the past it had always included table side service. It was NOT included on my last visit so I (along with my party who had heard me rave about it all week) were a bit disappointed.
The meal was still great despite the subtraction of this much loved dinning experience.
Excellent food; preparation and service. Steak Diane, their specialty was amazing along with the fluffy smooth mashed potatoes. The other entree was rack of lamb. Just as tasty. The service was exceptional. We've decided to go back for small plates the next time. Enjoyed the hummus, dolmas and baba ghanoush appetizer. That plus another small plate would make a nice dinner.
We made early (opening time) reservations and the hostess seated us in a dark noisy corner near the bar. She would not give us the vacant atrium table we wanted, instead she gave it to a walk-in couple a few minutes later. The reasoning that was so perfect to her was an insult to us. I wish I would have walked out. Been there before and it was a lot of fun. It will be a long time before I go back.
Great food! Really the best in town. If you’d like a quiet restaurant experience don’t go on a weekend night. Packed and the tables are so close together. I could Hardly hear my date because of the noise. The service is awesome though and the food is amazing.
I love Cafe Soriah for dinner: The lamb dishes are the best I've ever eaten, especially the Lamb Mediterranean. All of the other dishes are excellent, too. The desserts are the best in town.
We always have the Calamari to start & save 1/2 of our entrees so we can have dessert. It's a fun, relaxing place to catch up with friends & family.
Yes yes yes!! Finally after decades of living in Eugene we went to a small friends dinner here. The food and the service were amazing. Best steak Diane I’ve ever had, and the prawns were also amazing. Small, cozy and romantic, but more tables than you expect. Definitely go!
We went here about a year ago and were underwhelmed. It has such a good local reputation that we gave it another chance and were delighted. Everything was wonderful. Only drawback is that it’s a little loud, but that didn’t detract from the food or the service. Will definitely be back!
My sister and brother-in-law were here visiting from out of town and we brought them to
the best dining establishment in Eugene. What a treat to be able to share with them an
absolutely perfect evening, superb food, stunning cocktails, excellent service, great
conversation and much laughter. Thank you
Food selection is terrific. Everyone can find a dish they will love. I don't like hot, spicy food, but my brother likes sweat to run down his face when he eats and we both can find a fabulous meal at Café Soriah. Some reviewers describe the service as slow, but I would describe it more as a European paced meal. Which is great because I never get enough time to be with my family and friends. Expect to spend two hours for your meal on a Friday or Saturday night. A night when the dinner is the "thing" and not a show or game.
Soriah has been my 'go to' for special occasions for years. We love the middle eastern dishes and the elegant yet casual atmosphere. Gluten free and vegetarian options always available. So glad they were able to expand the seating area to allow for less crowded seating and quiet conversation. The patio is also a wonderful option in the warmer months, and its heated for the more adventurous.
My husband had the rack of lamb and I had the vegan eggplant dish. Both were excellent. We highly recommend this place. The lighting level was a bit high but maybe that’s how Eugene folks likes it. Other than that it was really really good. The wine list was good as well plus they have a full bar.
Had a wonderful meal here while in town for a long weekend. Food was great and the service, especially the chef was fantastic. The prices are very reasonable including their wine list but we did have to wait a bit for our entrees. We loves the spicy garlic shrimp appetizer. Could have mad that a meal they were so good. Loved the Souvlaki too.
I was very disappointed as this was a highly recommended restaurant. I was surprised by the lack of interest in me as a customer--was waiting several minutes just to be greeted, told to sit 'just anywhere' (why make a reservation?), slow to be given a menu, the waitress didn't seem to know or care anything about the menu, and it was 45 minutes before I received my order. The lamb soulvaki was good--nice crust, good seasoning, lovely yogurt sauce--but the spicy shrimp was literally too spicy to eat. While I might not be a chili head who drinks ghost pepper sauce, I do like hot and spicy. This was inedible. The waitress did not ask how the food was but simply provided a take home box. Bad assumption. As for the ambiance, the music was incredibly loud. So as an out-of-towner with no loyalty to a local favorite, I am hoping this was just a bad night for the cook. As for the poor service, maybe it is endemic to Eugene, so they don't know it should be better.
This is my very favorite Eugene restaurant so where else would I go to celebrate my birthday! It was great. I had the lamb tangine which was absolutely delicious--tender, perfectly seasoned, mouth-watering! We had the most incredible calimari appetizer with capers and the jalapeño on the side (it is quite spicy). And the salad was delicious. And a baklava for dessert. What a birthday feast! Service was great, too.
