We booked a place at the restaurant because of a recommandation. We come from Switzerland and we thought it would be nice to discover a Swiss themed restaurant. We come often to New York and we have never gotten such a lousy service. The waiters were rude, impatient, irrespecutful and literally made us feel like we were disturbing them each time we wanted to ask a question, or order something. We just wanted it to be over. Obviously we’ll never go back, nor will we send anyone there.
Service surprised us with Prosecco to celebrate our anniversary. Very sweet
Awesome as always
Met a friend and former colleague for lunch.
Relatively quiet and easy to have a conversation.
Service was fair, attentive enough, but could be better , but not friendly, they seemed to be doing us a favor by waiting on us.
However I ordered the Croque Monsieur and it was ridiculously skimpy for $17. The bread was squat and small, and one very thin slice of ham and one of cheese. The outside was spread with the bechamel sauce ( look d more like mayo) after the sandwich was pressed, so you could not eat it as a sandwich. That’s not my beef, my issue was barely anything to eat! It tasted OK but it was a VERY POOR value. Companion had the wedge salad, looked nice, and a decent size , but again way overpriced for what it was, and the restaurant overall.
We waited for over an hour for our food. We were not provided receipts on payment with card and once we left we found out we had been over charged by $200. The staff were extremely rude when we came back to get the refund for the $200 and were unable to provide any receipts or information on what amount had been charged to which card.
The Café is super nice and if you miss Switzerland, they will make you happy with there amazing choice of traditional swiss meals.
This place is a NoLITA gem! Unpretentious and inviting, the atmosphere is warm and quaint. The food was fantastic!!! My date and I had to try each other’s dishes and they were one better than the other! The Lobster Bisque is fabulous...buttery and huge chunks of lobster. The Octopus Salad was equally good-the fennel totally makes this dish! I had the branzino and my date had this awesome veal with spatzel (spelling?) dish. All amazing. Great wine list and cocktails too! Go!!!
Great place for breakfast, lunch, cocktails. Sometimes it's a bit loud but the food is good and the atmosphere is fun.
We went there for the cheese fondue. Spent a good deal of time planning our choices around the fondue only to find out that they had stopped it the day before as they don't do it in the summer. Only wished I known upon arrival so we didn't waste so much time.
Good food, good environment, the services could be a little quicker, but overall, a good experience.
Fondue is fantastic. Love this place. Have been coming here for years.
Nice food, we had the plate and meat platter and the lobster and octopus salad that we shared, it was really good
Good food, very disinterested service. Much better on weekdays or early week evenings.
Pretty loud at night and cramped but good food, nice ambiance, and a consistent go-to. I wouldn’t travel to eat here but it’s my favorite current neighborhood place.
Cute and cozy place; mediocre food.
Great scene. Lots of beautiful young people that my parents enjoyed being surrounded by. Food is very good. A little expensive, but all in all a really fun experience. Solid recommend for a night out with friends. Veal Schnitzel is a must.
Solid food, service a little slow, decent ambiance but nothing special. Definitely a good everyday option in the neighborhood.
Always love the rosti. The rosti that came with the salmon was very salty.
The hostess was very rude. We had clearly told her to bring us non-alcoholic cheese fondue and instructed her about not having fruit, but it still came. And when we talked to her, she said “you didn’t eat it anyways”. Also even after making a mistake, she charged us, and the bill came down to 65$
Great food, good service. Tables ready tiny and very close together. Hard for a more relaxed meal. But good neighborhood place. Lobster salad is amazing.
One of my favorite spots in nyc!! Not overrated whatsoever, this food reminds me so much of my Swiss family and home cooked meals. Will continue to go back!
Yes, the food is very good there but I find everything to be a bit overpriced for the setting and attitude. $37 for the main course is not cheap! Appetizers run from $17 & up? Rather high, no?
Love the atmosphere & food at Cafe Select. Highly recommend!
The waiter was fantastic! We had a fantastic time celebrating my birthday.
Cozy and fairly understated place with mostly Swiss-inspired fare. The food is great, maybe a tad expensive for what it is - it is SoHo after all. Try the Zurich Veal!
Food is great we tried several things pancakes are my favorite the potatoe cakes are amazing! And the coffee was perfect
Agradable espacio y comida
My girlfriends and I had an incredible experience here. We appreciated the table in the cute nook. The food was delicious and service was great.
Terrible service. Our waitress was not attentive at all. Only good thing is the food is good.
I’ve eaten here several times and always have had a great experience. The food is excellent, the wines are good amd the service is super. It’s a place worth going to.
Great business breakfast option. It wasn't crowded at all, service was good.
Amazing lady's night! Cafe select is always a good choice!I love being there...
they added random things on the check. it is my fault to not check it fully before signed it. but the cafe manager calling me and yelling isnt so nice either. Yes, I accused them for stealing money. Well, in a way, mistakenly by your employee, it did. I wont ask for refund but you certainly made an enemy against your restaurant. Dont scream at your customer at least. Also, the manager mentioned that he checked CCTV video to check if the server really was attentive or not, I dont know what you saw, but she was very loud right behind my back talking to a friend of her for many minutes. both my mother and I were upset about how loud and annoying they were. The manager has refused this fact also when he called me to yell. oh well. I give up on arguing but have to mention what I experienced. check with your employee before yelling at customer. I was nicely asking for 4~5times in the beginning. If you look at my reviews on other restaurants, usually I give 5 stars. I am not crazy or strict like you say. I find you the manager very scary. Is it really that hurtful to refund what was mistakenly added and signed for? just a strudel. and I also wanted to mention I dont drink black tea, so it must had been someone else's order. I did have herbal tea, so I didnt ask for refund for that anyways.
My favorite little place in soho. Periodttttttttttt
It was odd to see brunch at 3 in the afternoon on a Sunday. Apart from that the music was very loud and when asked to turn it down a bit, it wasn’t done.
Fantastic service, fantastic fondue, perfect environment
Ambiente is great. Nice interior. The crowd well mixed. Service is fast and attentiv. The food okay (but not great)
The restaurant feels quintessential New York City - the space is very small and tables are tight together. I personally don't mind this, however others in my party did. Their fondue is to-die for - I have gotten it three or four times! The service is very slow, so plan on being there for a while, however it is usually fine to take your time eating the fondue and relaxing. It would be a great spot for a date or intimate dinner with friends!
Good food and wine. Great location. Some of the tables are very cozy.
Took a while to get menus and our wine but otherwise a good time.
