Situated just off Cannon Hill, and nestling amongst a handful of other restaurants, pubs and shops, Café Rouge Southgate looks over the picturesque Greenacre Walk. We have also recently had a fabulous makeover with a whole new food and wine menu inspired by the different regions of France... come down and see for yourself!

Being largely residential, the area has a great community feeling about it. Take a seat and watch the world go by while you enjoy a great meal.

Further north along the High Street is Southgate tube station - one of the more distinctive London Underground stations. The circular design has a flat projecting roof that allows natural daylight to flood the ticket hall and is topped by an illuminated feature that resembles a tesla coil.

As much as I used to love Cafe Rouge I’ve found the quality of the food to diminish since the refurbishment and service greatly declined. It was a place I loved spending time in every week!! Now this is more like once or twice a year. Overall the ambience is still warm and comfortable.

Our booking was not received by the restaurant and was not shown on their system. Very disappointed as we booked this for my wife's birthday. The restaurant was full and there was no appropriate alternative seating. We had to go elsewhere - I doubt if I will use open table again.

Had a nice evening, but we went as there was live music,but very disappointed as it was live modern Jazz. Good very good as usual ,but would have preferred a Cote port singer ,or music that made sense.

Original booking was for 6 people, all with prams! This then increased to 10 people with prams. The staff were very helpful in accommodating us all and creating space to park all the prams and setting our high chairs. They made us feel welcome. THANKYOU!

Really good quality and well presented food. Courteous service and very pleasant decor. Only downside was an exceedingly noisy group of men at the next table to us, making it difficult for my friend and I to have a conversation. Very quick and easy system to book a table on line.

Booked online through OpenTable and on arrival the restaurant did not have our booking details. Luckily there was a table available otherwise we would have been stuck. Dinner was overall good, escargots average, duck good, boeuf bourguignon excellent. Waitress was very pleasant and personable.

Overall experience suited all and we came out with a smile. Have known the restaurant for years and been happy with various meal types. Had not been for a while and found it even better on this occasion. Food good especially the sea bass.Chips not so good- lacked the wow factor! Plenty of choice and pleased we could substitute items of one dish. Service was prompt and there was just about the right amount of attention. We could relax and enjoy the meal and general good natured feel of the place. Service and staff really good. Look forward to next visit.

We ate at Cafe Rouge Southgate for my wife's birthday with our two young children due it's convenient location on a school night. The food was what you would expect from Cafe Rouge, but prices do seem to have risen disproportionately since we last visited about 18 months ago. The chicken and kids' pasta (especially) lacked seasoning, but everything else was good and service was exceptional enough to make us want to go back all by itself.
