We stayed in Bury St Edmunds for the weekend and booked Cafe Rouge for a treat on the Saturday evening at 7.30pm. When we arrived the place was buzzing, but people gradually left and so did our waitress. After our first 2 courses we felt a bit ignored and missed our waitress. The food was very good but the service fell short

Our evening for my husbands birthday was great. The food was excellent, the cocktails were fabulous and the staff were a credit to customer service so all in all a very enjoyable evening and cant wait to go back.

Wait staff are experts at avoiding eye contact, even when clearing a table right next to yours. All I wanted was another milk for my son! Really though, this is your average chain restaurant. There is nothing to really complain about while at the same time there is nothing to leave a real impression. And I had to laugh when the woman taking our orders wasn't familiar with the French words used on the menu, like confit and pommes. I would eat here again

We do visit other Cafe Rouge establishments where the service has been good but I don't think we've ever had satisfactory service in Bury St Edmunds, which is our local restaurant. Here it always seems to take an inordinate length of time to get our meal, regardless of how busy it is. On this occasion, there was only a handful of customers dining but we had to wait over 45 minutes for our meal. The waitress had to be asked for things that should have been supplied as a matter of course, e.g. Steak knives. We also had to ask more than once for other items, e.g.drinks. Poor Show!!

The service was fantastic but the food did not live up to the price tag. I had snails for starters, of which I got 3 for £6.50, and the bouillabaise lacked flavour. The dessert was okay, but sadly nothing to shout about. Based on the quality of food and the price of each dish, I don't think I will be going back anytime soon.

Customer who came in after us were served before us. Steak was cold and greens wew limp and sad looking. Will not go again.

Attentive wait staff. Great menu choice. Good food served quickly. 32oz Steak to share was very good but not the best cut of meat ive had for the money. Chateaubriand would have been a better choice. The Fondant aux Chocolats was very good too. Ambience was good too will be going again soon.
