We have eaten at Cafe' Roma for several years. It is our "go to" place whenever we are in San Luis Obispo. The staff is very friendly and the owners are always there. The food is fantastic plus we love to eat Italian style so they are more than happy to accommodate us.

Very warm ambience. Great service - our server was Chris. Pastas are homemade and excellent. We had a terrific evening. Good food and wine. Expertly prepared margaritas.

Marco met us at the door and walked us to our table. Chris, our waiter was very friendly. The food, Linguini Pescatore was outstanding. Chris up-sold a Caesar salad which complemented the meal very well. The hardshell covered ice cream dessert was excellent with the Bellavia espresso as well.

We made a reservation and we did get seated promptly.
Service was fast, almost too fast. Kind of felt rushed.
We did have a nice waiter.
Food was adequate, not sure we would go back.

I live in Cayucos and my sister and her husband who live in Davis California arrived for a few days of vacation. Her husband was exploring the area around the train station and came upon Café Roma and decided to check it out. He was pleased by what he saw and suggested we go there for dinner. They both like Italian food and were impressed the food and service. They plan on returning to Café Roma the next time they are visiting me.

Owner was so gracious and welcoming. Our first visit to Cafe Roma to celebrate Easter dinner with our Cal Poly Student daughter. We ordered the halibut special, the House lasagne, ravioli and shrimp scampi dinners. Delicious! Wonderful service. Beautiful memories. We’ll be back next time we’re in town!

Our group was comfortably seated at a round table at the end of a dining room where we could readily hear each other talk. The variety from the menu met everyone's taste and preferences. The various entrees were served with wonderful plating for visual appeal and had succulent culinary flavors. The chef cooked the fish (halibut) to perfection, grilled the lamb shanks flawlessly, and blended the pasta sauces with full flavor. Our waiter was attentive, pleasant, and very accommodating to our needs. We all enjoyed celebrating Easter over lunch at Cafe Roma.

Three of us enjoyed a wonderful couple of hours with superb food. We were bringing a guest for lunch prior to his boarding an Amtrak train. This was the second time we have done this...and it was perfect twice! One recommendation: can you find a quiet spot for those of us with hearing problems? We left close to the end of your lunch period and found the peace and quiet we needed to hear each other. Wish that could have been available to us earlier.
Overall, a second lunch we enjoyed tremendously and will do so again. Thank you!

We arrived early for our reservation and waited at the bar. After a glass of wine, the host came in to show us to our table. I ordered the salmon dish and it was delish. He hubs had the lasagna and the noodles were so light and just darn good. We also had the soup of the day minestrone which was a great starter. Service was good and atmosphere as well. We will come back when in SLO

Nice setting and wait staff quite pleasant and helpful. A bit slow due to absent server and bartender. Absence was acknowledged and addressed when coffee overlooked and delayed. Handled very well. Beet salad was excellent and plenty to split. Ravioli was good but sauce better. Breaded pork chop was excellent and a substantial serving.

The house made pasta entree was excellent. The staff was very attentive, polite and friendly but failed to give us the requested separate checks so I was obliged to pay for the entire dinner. I ordered the wine and the waiter showed and poured it for my husband, any quality waiter should know who orders the wine is who should taste it for any defects, especially insensitive in this day! The cannelloni was way sub par, over cooked pasty chicken in two bland boring sauces.

A dinner out for the last night of a visit. We enjoyed the warm atmosphere with an attentive waitstaff and a traditional European “white tablecloth” vibe. Our food was well-prepared and presented. Reminiscent of the family-owned Italian restaurants from way back — when a nice dinner out was always Italian.

Service was impeccable. Appetizers were great, had Escargot and Salumi and cheese platter. Entree was hit and mis. The Oso Bucco was delicious, the pizza with broccoli rabe and sausage was good. Lasagna was ok, Cannanoli was ok, Scampi was good, served with mashed potatoe...wish it was noted on menu, I was expecting pasta. The taglateli with Bolognese was horrible, tasted like Chef Boyare D. I had to return it. Deserts...Omg the lemon sorbetto was the best. Canolli was good as was the rum cake. The mouse was bot a favorite at the table.

Food was average. Not bad but not as good as expected. The place felt a little industrial and not very intimate. This is an OK place to eat in but not if you are looking for something special and definitely not a gourmet experience.

It was okay, but we expected a little more. My wife and I each ordered their shellfish linguine (lobster, scampi and mussels) The scampi was skimpy, with only one each on our plates. And we thought the salad was rather small for the price. While the food was tasty, we were somewhat disappointed. We've had better experiences here on previous visits. This was possibly due to the Valentines Day crowd.

Valentines Day, they were very busy but the pasta dishes were tasteless, ordered the beet salad and they used canned beets because we could see the ridges from the can and the salad lacked flavor too. My husband had the short rib which he liked very much but the carbonara was tasteless. Not sure we would go back. Our waiter was really nice but I don’t think they were prepared for the crowd that night.

Food and service were great! We don't usually go out on Valentines Day night because of crowds but they did a great job spacing their reservations and did not try and crowd more people into the restaurant..it was set up the same as any other night. And we were not rushed. Very nice evening.

We reserved our table online, and received a confirmation. We were seated promptly and courteously. It was Valentine's Day and the restaurant provided a Valentine's Day menu. The food was very good, and the service was excellent. It was our first time at Cafe Roma. We left very pleased and we will return.

We had high expectations, based on reviews. However, 2 of us ordered veal entrees, which were very tough and chewy. Our server, Chris, was absent more than he was present, and when he came back, he had forgot our wine, said he kept losing his card. Nobody even commented that most of our veal was not eaten when they removed our plates. Won't be back.

Another year and another Restaurant Month visit. Cafe Roma is one of our favorite places to eat and go out on a date to. The service is always great and the food is delicious. We went with friends and had a great time.
The angus carpaccio is just plain delicious and the french onion soup was good but nothing special.
The veal osso bucco was just amazing. tneder and flavorful. The tortelli al funghi was good too. In my opinion too much filling, which ate a little dry but overall a good dish.
The creme brulee was really good and the tiramisu was good.
Overall you can't beat the service and taste. For $40 for the three courses/person, it was too good to pass up.
Whether on a date or just wanting great Italian food, definitely give Cafe Roma a try. I just wish we could afford to come here more often.

Probably the best Italian in SLO, my girlfriend and I came here on our anniversary. We had a reservation for 8:15, and although we were seated relatively quickly upon arrival, after we were given menus, it took about 30 minutes for the waitress to return and take our order. Despite this long wait to order, the food arrived very quickly and the Tortellini di Zucca was absolutely delicious. The Ravioli di Cassa was also quite tasty but not as noteworthy. Café Roma has been changing. One time the food will be great and the next time very questionable. Locals are starting to wonder what's going on. Some regular items are now being charged for such as the olive oil ,parmesan and garlic for dipping that came with your bread. Now you have to ask for butter or olive oil. Noise level and not enough wait staff have been the most recent complaints.
Sorry guys, but you are losing our group for now.
