Cafe Roma Ratings and Reviews
Café romanhas a new chef and what a very pleasant change. Everything was good, best I’ve ever had at Cafe Roma. We have been goi g here or many years. A family favorite, but now we will be telling all about the very positive changes.
Presentation was so nice, flavors delicious and I have eaten patrolle sole at this restaurant for a long time.
Decided to take the plunge and go out for Thanksgiving meal rather than prepare it at home since we didn't have family coming into town this year. Were not disappointed. The food was excellent and we ended up with leftovers for the next day. The restaurant was packed and all wait staff were running but still were able to attend to guests. During busing times this is not a quiet restaurant however still a pleasant atmosphere. Overall a great dining experience and meal.
In what has become a tradition, we meet to enjoy the Thanksgiving Special at Cafe Roma. This year was great with turkey, trimmings, and a nice bottle of local wine. We will be looking forward to repeating again. Of course we hope to do other visits during year also.
Thanks Giving Dinner was delicious. One had the traditional Turkey meal and it was the best. The other two had the beef short rib dinner and we loved it too. So tasty and memorable.
I have had their regular menu in the past and always wonderfully tasty. Thank you, Cafe Roma for feeding my family instead of me and they thanked me.
Delicious Thanksgiving Dinner. The turkey was so tender and moist. All the other traditional sides were so tasty. The other entries in my party were also wonderful: butternut ravioli and Salmon. Tomato bisque Soup was super yummy. Salad was fresh with fresh grated Parmesan, pumpkin pie and cheesecake were outstanding. The waiter, Anthony was super attentive and polite, very professional. It was an A++ experience. Looking forward to another chance to go back. Highly recommend.
We have been here many times and the food is ALWAYS terrific....this time as well. The service with either Amy or Chris is equally terrific but we had a server who really dropped the ball and nearly ruined Moms birthday. Owners stepped in and made it right but this server has a lot to learn if he wants to be like Amy or Chris (or stay employed).
The local restaurant scene has really grown, back in the old days Cafe Roma was the best. Now, it's right up there for the best food but also has maybe the best ambiance in town and the prices are very reasonable - the best of the top tier local restaurants. The service is excellent, the bread is excellent (and they serve butter with it instead of the stupid, IMO, trend of oil and balsamic vinegar), and the food is as good as any I have eaten on the Central Coast. I am an avid cook and love Italian food. This is the real deal.
We love Italian food, but this restaurant was terrible! We had a good table, the service was very good and the wine list was exceptional....but we left half our meals on the table because it was so bad. The restaurant was extremely loud, but this was due to the fact that almost all the tables were full (go figure...).
We come here every year when we are in Pismo Beach for the Jazz Festival. I was disappointed in a couple of things. My husband and I ordered the special tomato soup, which was very good but was warm. They had to take it back to heat it. Everyone enjoyed their entrees, but I was disappointed. I ordered the Veal Marsala and it was not what I expected. The Veal was a bit tough and the sauce was not a rich Marsala sauce; it was watery and I could barely taste the Marsala wine. It was not what I would expect from a restaurant of this caliber.
We were visiting our son for parents weekend at Cal Poly and took him to Cafe Roma for dinner, based on an online description. We were suspect when we got there. It's not much to look at and right near the train station. However, we were immediately pleased when we got in to see a bustling restaurant. Our waiter was perfect, pleasant and attentive. The food was wonderful. We will definitely return on future trips.
Café Roma is positively a define culinary experience! Truly authentic Italian food; amazing wine list and professional, courteous and delightful servers… Ask any of them for wine pairing suggestions and you’ll enjoy a beautiful wine with your dinner… this was truly wonderful experience. Bravo bravo !
Good but not great overall. Was visiting from NorCal and thought we'd try it out. Everything seemed to be off - except the entrees. Every staff member tried to upsell us at every turn (from bottled water to splitting our shared salad onto 2 plates, etc. And the special appetizer (prosciutto wrapped burrata) was cooked - but we weren't told that. Besides the surprise it simply wasn't very good.
Overall a good experience. Our waiter started off strong but disappeared as the night wore on. Cocktail glasses, empty glasses, empty bread plates were never picked up. Gave is one cursory check during dinner but that was it until he tried to sell is dessert. Was hoping for better.
My wife and I try to eat here once a month. We live in Paso Robles, so it is a 30 drive but well worth it. The food is always fresh with cold, crispy salads, excellent dressings, and beautiful main dishes. The staff is always on their game, you never have to wave them down.
The food is very authentic Italian in flavor. The sauces are excellent and not overwhelming.
We like the category listings with choices in salads, pasta and meat dishes. You can adjust your meal according to your appetite.
And don't pass on their desserts.
We were seated quickly and immediately, service was great! There are gluten free pasta options, which are a great thing to offer for those who think they can't eat out at an Italian restaurant. Everything is fresh and served in a timely fashion! Dessert shared by our table was homemade peach sorbet! Amazing food, amazing experience!
How many times have I dined at Cafe Roma? Many many over the 37 years they have been in town and I've lived here the same length. Someone in the family is always hands-on; it's been in the family for 2 generations. It's the kind of place where a local can always expect to run into other long-time fans of "The Roma". My favorite places to eat are in the bar our outside on the patio. The food can be counted on for consistency and although the menu doesn't change much, there are always a few specials. The wine list is comprehensive including many local selections and it's nice that you can order by the carafe to get less than 750 ml. That's a European thing that more restaurants should offer. There is also a full bar that often offers a featured cocktail.
The food is good and straight forward without fancy presentation, nothing nouveau, just good cooking like your mama would make if your mama was Maria Rizzo.
We were seated 35 minutes after our reservation time and didn't see food arrive until 35 minutes after being seated. The demographics lean toward an older crowd who dine early. By 9 pm the place was almost empty. The food was good , traditional Italian American and the service was good too. The pastas and pizzas are the best items to order.
