Top off your Café Rabelais French feast with an unforgettable dessert, like the mixed nut and chocolate silk pie “fondant au chocolate sur croute de noix” or the fruity “sorbet du jour” and wash it down with a fresh, hot espresso.

This restaurant never disappoints. Excellent all around.
First, I have to say that we love this restaurant. We have been coming here for years. I’m not sure if it was because of the recent freeze or if there have been some changes that we were not aware of, but they seem to be having an off night.
Since we were celebrating our anniversary, this was a bit disappointing. The food was at best so so, the service was less than that. My husband and I agreed that, if this were the first time we had been there, we would not rush back.
I really really hope that they get their game back together. Because this is one of the best restaurants in Houston, one that makes you think that you’re in Paris.
Great service and food, as usual. The mussels were especially good this time. Quiet. Tables spaced well apart in accordance with Covid rules. Enjoyed our visit!
Great food, service, and atmosphere!! I would definitely recommend. Semi casual dress as you like is also a good feature.
Always superlative if a bit pricey, Café Rabelais did not disappoint for our Valentine's celebration. Great and creative menu and a wine list that )I think) rivals any in town for quality and selection.
Outstanding experience as usual! This is a prefect size restaurant with all the elements for a top notch dining experience at a fair value.
The food is always great. The mussels in the broth are the best anywhere. It is a meal in itself. The wine list is great with e excellent choices at an affordable price. The food options are varied and great.
I highly recommend the restaurant
A unique and charming little spot with impeccable service and equally impeccable food.
When we lived inside the Loop, my wife and I would eat here at least once a month. Our favorite French bistro in Houston. Moved out of town. Had friends visiting from out of town, and Cafe Rabelais didn’t disappoint us.
Loved it. The mussels were especially tasty.
a sure value. We always love to dine there. Very constant in quality
This was our first visit, but it's on our go-to list of Houston restaurants now. Small place, somewhat cramped inside, but that's part of the charm - it reminds me of many of the bistros in France I've been to. The menu is somewhat pared down, I believe, due to COVID, but that's to be expected. The pâté en croûte (liver pâté wrapped in a pie crust) was the best I've had outside France. We had the bœuf bourguignon and the rack of lamb, both of which were excellent. The crème brulee was very good, baked in a pie crust which is unusual in my experience. Prices were roughly what I would expect for a restaurant of this caliber.
The wine list was a small subset of the list on the Web site, but offered good selections at a wide range of prices. The 2014 Domaine Mourchon Côtes-du-Rhône-Village Seguret Grande Reserve was excellent at $58.
Excellent French inspired food, good menu selection, the mussels are sensational, the lamb really very good, and a really good selection of wines. With limited waiters, service can be a little slow, but the food is worth the wait.
On my very short list of favorite restaurants in Houston. So pleased that reservations are now available because of COVID! Food and service and ambiance are always perfection!
Great French food and ambience. Highly recommended
The food is outstanding.
Great food, but would not go back because of the price. The menu is pretty small as well.
Food experience was a disaster, however customer service was very attentive and pleasant.
A perfect, delicious dinner!
Every time we eat at Cafe Rabelais, we are so pleased. The food and service are excellent. We love the atmosphere too. It is one of our favorite restaurants in Houston.
Great classic French food done very well. Great service and a homey bistro feel.
Wonderful place. Excellent food. Excellent wine list. Highly recommend!
Even though it is on the sidewalk bordering the parking lot, it was extremely nice sitting outside, comfortable with heater on. Well distanced from other diners. Great food.
Just perfect!
My husband and I dined at Cafe Rabelais for New Year's Eve. The ambiance was excellent, the service was outstanding, and the food was delicious. This is one of our go to places.
New Year’s Eve - early dinner, and was perfect!
We had the perfect Christmas Eve dinner!
Christmas Eve
Incredible food at a neighborhood gem.
Dinner with my son who was home for the holiday.
Consistent !
Champagne dinner!! Was a fabulous experience! Great bubbles selection and great food pairing!!!
"I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The Escargot was amazing and the smoke salmon appetizer was great. . We loved the Filet steak. Chateau Franc was outstanding Service was well-timed and friendly, wines were affordable."
This lovely French bistro has become one of my favorite restaurants in Houston. The food, drink and ambiance is great. The wait staff is committed and thoughtful. It has good outdoor dining during COVID.
Food was served cold and had to be returned for re-heating. Mashed potatoes returned cold.
Went for our 25th anniversary and it was a wonderful dining experience; excellent service and food and we loved the atmosphere. Highly recommend! We will be back!
amazing escargot. we asked for a second order they were so good. perfect amount of garlic sweetness and very tender. not tough or chewy at all. can't wait to go get more.
Fresh delicious perfect
I had mussels and my friend had the steak and frites. Both were perfectly prepared and the service was excellent. We sat outside on the patio and it was very pleasant. Extensive wine list and fairly good value.
The mussel is excellent, especially the sauce
