The service was top-notch and the food was fantastic. If you like Gorgonzola cheese, A must have is Susan‘s downfall it’s excellent. And the risotto was fabulous.
This is another hidden gem on the peninsula..

We were in therein dining room on a Saturday night and it was too noisy. The four of us each ended up talking to the person next to us, not across the table, which is too bad. Other than that, all (ambience, service, food) was great!

The only thing keeping this from "over the top...Wonderful" was the noise level! Terrible ,especially toward the rear of the main dining room. As dinner progressed we could not hear one another without straining.

They had an abbreviated menu for New Years Eve, and it was disappointing!

Pasta was dry and lifeless....cocktails were good.

A warm, friendly restaurant to celebrate a friend’s birthday. I had not been here for some time and i’m glad we chose Cafe Pro Bono. I’ll be back there soon. Food, service, and ambiance were all excellent!

We go here often for a nice dinner with friendly attentive service. The menu is diverse with a changing list of specials every day. Everything is always cooked carefully, while not extremely avant garde. It is very popular with the locals and often family groups are there . They have tables outside on the sidewalks where people with dogs and babies often sit in nice weather. Babies are accommodated inside too, although I don't think of this as a place for babies or toddlers.

This is easily my favorite restaurant in our neighborhood. The ambiance is lovely, the staff is exceptional (and kind to children!), and the food is simple without being boring, and delicious on a whole new level. For whatever reason, I never feel my usual "I should have avoided gluten" pangs after a meal at Pro Bono.

Never had a bad meal here; Food and service are always great. A little pricey and always busy, so definitely make a reservation. The restaurant is also small so you be close and cozy with other guests.

We had a very pleasant experience dining at pro bono. The service is excellent, ambiance is inviting. Although the ceaser salad was a little bland, the Greek chicken was succulent and tasty. We will be back.

We've loved this restaurant for decades, but moved away from the area so weren't sure whether it would still be just as good. It was! On top of excellent food and a comfortable ambiance that made our get-together with friends even happier, we were given a wonderful welcome by the proprietor/manager who recognized us after a gap of many years! The place has only changed for the better, with a beautiful pink onyx bar counter now installed. We'll return here any time we visit Palo Alto in the future.

The staff was wonderful and gracious when one of our party was significantly delayed. They made the afyernoon very special for our birthday celebration, even though we occupied a table for almost 3 hours! The food was outstanding.

Some food were good, but some were not. The sausage was bone dry and tough. But the fish was great. Unpredictable. I invited some business guest there, one guest didn't even eat the salad at all. I would not host another business lunch there.

Cafe Pro Bono continues to be one of my favorite go-to restaurants on the Peninsula. The food is both outstanding and authentic. Something simple, like a warm, sliced chicken salad is delicious. Service is prompt and respectful (they “read the table” appropriately). Whether it’s an important business lunch or an important occasion like a birthday or anniversary, this place more than delivers.

The food was excellent. This was our second experience as we had previously attended a group business dinner here in a private room. On both occasions the food was great. Service was very timely.
The space is tight and thus not appropriate for an intimate or private conversation. Thus we probably will not invite another couple to dine with us. But we likely will return because the quality of the food is excellent. We eat out regularly and appreciate high quality food which is provided here.

The service was a bit spotty (it's hard to find/train/keep good servers in Palo Alto due to unaffordable housing) but the food was fantastic. My wife enjoyed her cucumber-infused vodka and grapefruit cocktail and my Syrah from the well-curated by-the-glass menu was delicious. I had the wild boar sausage with flagolet bean appetizer and the absolutely wonderful risotto with smoked salmon and peas. My wife is gluten-sensitive and she had many selections to choose from including all of the pasta menu except ravioli and tortelini. Parking is also quite convenient -- there is a large City of Palo Alto lot just around the corner.

Palo Alto has many great dining options, but we return again and again to Pro Bono because the food is always perfectly prepared and the service is professional but also very warm and welcoming. I love the salmon in particular. This is a gem of a restaurant just off of California Avenue with easy parking and a great wine list and full bar. An absolute favorite!

Cafe Pro Bono is better than OK but not that special and barely worth it. $40 a person (one cocktail and a glass of wine, three entrees, no desert or coffee) seems a bit steep. We wont hurry back

We checked in for 4 persons to have a quiet dinner with friends. Usually we taste each others food to experience the varied menu. What was most disappointing was the small volume of food and the high price for very little. The choice was not that great and some of the higher valued offerings were still tiny. Listed wines by the glass were also much higher than other local restaurants.
