Cafe Pro Bono Ratings and Reviews
Pro Bono is a consistently nice restaurant. We have been there many times and we love the food, the place and the people. They recognize us. They focus on all the details. Even the bathrooms are beautiful and clean. So many restaurants decay over time--this is NOT the case with Pro Bono. It is as good or better than 20 years ago.
We have eaten here many times and we enjoy the italian food (especially pasta) and casual atmosphere. On this occasion (Valentines day) the experience was very poor. The menu was limited, with few pasta choices. The salmon dish chosen was undercooked, and when requested that it be addressed, it came back with salmon now done and the other items (like vegetables) had cooled off and were over done. This dish should have been prepared again from start. The degree of normal salmon cooking in this dish should also have been pre-discussed with the customer (even though the actual was rather rare). When we complained, we discovered that there was no owner or manager on point that evening (we asked to speak with one), only the server who spoke only partial english. Therefore, there was no way for this issue to be properly addressed. That was a very big issue for us....no ownership for a customer satisfaction issue situation at all at the restaurant (on a special occasion, no less). Also, when we requested a Chardonnay glass of wine, the server did not review the two choices we evidently had, but rather just assumed and delivered the more pricey one. Again, this server did not and could not properly read their customer. What a really bad experience that evening for us, and therefore our low rating.
Cafe Pro Bono exceeded everyone's expectations. I coordinated the evening for our party. None of us had ever been to this restaurant, so we did not know what to expect. Coincidentally, we were there on a very vibrant Valentine's Day evening, which was fabulous. Cafe Pro Bono didn't disappoint.
The owner, Akif Aydin, greeted each patron personally. He handed each lady a red rose. The service was first-class - smooth, accommodating and responsive. The appetizers, entrees and desserts were exceptional. The Italian wine list is superb.
This is both a charming neighborhood restaurant and a destination. It is highly recommended.
I've been to Cafe Pro Bono several times over the years. It is consistent in food and delivery, and has a very good wine list - exceptional for Italian wines. It's a busy place with wait staff hustling back and forth, yet the food is good, the staff friendly and courteous, and always a small line at the door during dinner waiting to be seated. A tad noisy. For family fare or fun, good food and a selection of great Italian wines, this is hard to beat.
We return time and time again to Pro Bono. The welcome sets the tone, delightful. Food is delicious, the ambience so comfortable and service is warm and attentive. White tablecloths confirm one can have a conversation while enjoying an evening at our neighborhood gem.
Very nice setting. Parking can be an issue during lunch time. Service could be quicker. It was lunch time and not that many people and it still took an hour for just and order of two lunch items. WAY TOO LONG!! They need to get this down to 30 mins. Other wise, our servier, a woman was perfect.
We go here often for a nice dinner with friendly attentive service. The menu is diverse with a changing list of specials every day. Everything is always cooked carefully, while not extremely avant garde. It is very popular with the locals and often family groups are there . They have tables outside on the sidewalks where people with dogs and babies often sit in nice weather. Babies are accommodated inside too, although I don't think of this as a place for babies or toddlers.
This is easily my favorite restaurant in our neighborhood. The ambiance is lovely, the staff is exceptional (and kind to children!), and the food is simple without being boring, and delicious on a whole new level. For whatever reason, I never feel my usual "I should have avoided gluten" pangs after a meal at Pro Bono.
