We came for dinner after visiting the Museum of Ice Cream. Easy parking in the garage around the corner . Our waiter Jorge G made the evening very special. His excellent service and knowledge of the menu was helpful, profession and pleasant. The meal was relaxed. We never felt rushed.
The short rib ravioli was excellent.
Less salt in the onion soup would have made it better. Overall, we can't wait to return next time we are downtown LA.

Cafe is always good, especially pre-theater. The menu changes seasonally and the cocktails can be a bit pricey though there is a great happy hour that starts early. The service is great and it has great outdoor seating.

We've been to Cafe Pinot at least ten times and never had a problem, but on this Thanksgiving holiday, they were definitely having an off night. The service didn't attend well to the table or meal, but I believe there were a lot of guest staff due to the holiday. We actually had to send our main courses back due to being completely cold, and then again had to send them back due to being undercooked, followed by foregoing the course entirely. I would definitely recommend Cafe Pinot, but I might hesitate to go back on such a busy holiday night as Thanksgiving, Christmas, or NYE.

Thanksgiving dinner: amazing soup and salad, ok turkey, good sides, chocolate dessert great, pumpkin one good. Great intros, but disappointing entree. A bit too pricy for what we got

We purchased a Travelzoo voucher, what a mistake that was!! We informed our server about the voucher and soon learned it came with odd restrictions like the main course had to be the same for both of us. I found this to be odd since one of us does not eat red meat. I asked one of the managers, she apologized and told me we could each order a different main course. We did just that, so I was truly surprised when the server came to our table prior to serving the main course and told me we were both getting the same dish. At that point, I did not want to argue any further, so we finished up, paid the bill and left very disappointed. Definitely not coming back to Pinot!!

Has been better in the past...

Service was very good. However the food was below what have previously experienced. Duck confit was dry, as was the lemon pound cake desert. Hopefully was an 'off night'.

don't buy the travelzoo voucher! waste of money as you are not saving any money. in fact, you may end up paying more, for less food. a la carte menu is fine.

Cafe Pinot is always high quality, in service, setting, and food. I tend to choose it for business lunches because we can eat outside under the shadow of umbrellas and enjoy the beauty of the warm Southern California day, in an atmosphere with virtually no room noise to cover the conversations. I especially like the salads, and most especially the Salade Nicoise.

An unappetizing menu but chose the trout which was very good. For many dishes there is an odd pairing of ingredients or flavors. The garden is lovely for dining.

To start out on a really positive note, the food was fantastic! The kitchen is artfully placed as you enter and one can view the preparations through a glass window. Nice touch. The Artichoke dip was the best I have had with fabulous bread. I ordered the Risotto for dinner and it was cooked perfectly with excellent blended cheeses, mushrooms and herbs. The other dishes looked tasty and well presented. The negative note was the service. Our server was sweet but her perfume was overpowering, she did not know how the fish of the day was prepared and our food took 45 minutes and she never kept us updated warning us of the wait. There were only 7 tables with customers on this Saturday night so no excuse for the wait. We were starving by the time we ate. The patio was beautiful with views of the city lights, but the restaurant inside has a strange musty smell. If they train their servers, update the carpet and get the smell out, the food and atmosphere will bring the customers back.

Food and service were great. I am just very disapointed that I booked the reservations in advance and mentioned it was my birthday and there was no candle or anything special done.
When we got our desert and there was no mention I thought maybe they will bring it on a plate or some other way, but nothing was mentioned. we left before 10pm and there was no stuff at the reception or any where to mention it.

We love that we can sit on the patio here almost any time of the year and hear ourselves talk! Such a pleasure. Aside from a lovely menu, we are always REALLY pleased with the staff. The servers ask if you are going to the theater, and they pay attention to your timing. We so appreciate that. We also like that the menu is not over-loaded. Enough choices in each category, but not over done. We eat here quite often when in DTLA.

Probably the saltiest food I’ve ever had. Literally could not taste anything, but salt, to the point where it was burning my tongue. We left an entire entree untouched as it was just salt and just horrible. There was no depth in their food as it used only one flavoring style, salt, and too much of it.

It was like wedding catered food where it’s been sitting in a steam tray all day and is over-salted to cover up the blandness from cooking large batches.

I do not recommend this place to anyone.

The service was decent, but is moot if the food is inedible and not enjoyable — that is really what you’re paying for, and I spent $130 for nothing.

Still great, with attention to detail. A haven in a (currently) somewhat demolished part of town due to subway construction and L.A.'s general bad construction coordination. Every course from starter to coffee was perfect. The branzino for two is delicious, especially its vegetable base. Pastas are sublime. Share one as a starter if you're having a more substantial entree. In warm weather the patio is about a s lovely as L.A. dining gets.

The best happy hour in town! We tried almost everything on the menu and it was all delicious! The staff was great and very attentive. Food excellent as always; service of the top quality expected over the past 20 years or so. This visit marred to some degree by choosing to sit outside (lovely day) and being overwhelmed by the number of flies...had to move inside which only solved the problem partially...service staff was very responsive and helpful. We'll be back. Gerry Seelman
