Great place for dinner before the theater. They will call a shuttle for ride to theater. We parked in underground garage open 24 hours. Easy access to elevator to restaurant’s front door. Parking validation reduced cost to $7. Shuttle will bring you back to Pinot to retrieve your car. Delightful experience!
Good food. Not amazing though. Service was excellent. Attentive. Parking is a little difficult. Lovely location. Good for a business lunch.
Made a reservation based off 1.8k reviews of over 4 stars. Unfortunately the meal was just average. Had the ravioli and mushrooms. The mushrooms were good the the ravioli was rubbery. Sat outside, beautiful setting but the food and service didn’t meet the same standards
Mark was a great waiter. happy hour wine is only $6.
Meals and salad were great--veal shank and hangar steak. Bread is awesome.
Dessert (lemon cake) not worth the $ and calories
Tonight was Valentines night and it was obviously a packed house, but the staff worked hard and tried to get everyone seated with food on their table as fast as possible. I applaud not only the food and service but also their composure on a stressful night like Valentine’s night.
Valentine’s Day was terrible. Front of the house was clueless. We were seated more than an hour after our reservation. Their system was to hand write names on a series of menus in the order of guest arrival. Not sure why I made a reservation then. A few times they couldn’t read their own handwriting and they forgot to put my name on the list. They remembered checking me in so they guessed and inserted me into a random place on the list.
To make matters worse, while we were waiting, one of the waiters came wobbling to the front of the restaurant where we were all waiting (I head other patrons say they thought he was drunk or high) and asked a few Asian couples if they had been the ones who he served. None of us had even eaten yet. He had a check in hand and was angry. We think he was looking for an Asian couple who didn’t tip well or something. Maybe I’m wrong in what he was looking for, but asking all the Asian couples is wildly inappropriate.
They forgot to bring our third courses. Ended up waiting an inordinate amount of time for our correct course. The entree was terribly cold.
The only positive of the night was our waiter. He was a tall blonde man with glasses. Awesome character, great attitude.
It was honestly the worst place I have ever spent Valentine’s Day, I know for a fact to never go there again
The restaurant is beautiful, the service is impeccable and the food is inventive and delicious. I don’t see how it could be more perfect.
The manager, Jorge, made us feel very welcome as he greeted us upon arrival. We were seated in a lovely outdoor patio next to a beautiful tree covered in lights. Grace, our waitress, recommended the market fish, halibut, that was delicious! A must when dining here. The cocktails were great! The staff here made us feel relaxed as they efficiently attended to us during dinner. The restaurant is great for dinner when attending the LA Phil just a few blocks away at the Walt Disney Concert Hall as they provide a complementary shuttle between venues.
Was surprised to enjoy my meal after not dining here for years.
The service was superb and the food was quite tasty!
We've been to many of the Restaurants that are part of the Patina Restaurant Group and this restaurant is part of that group. Their Restaurants are all amazing! Great menus, wine lists, Chefs, and everyone else involved in serving you! Always a wonderful experience!
We definitely look forward to coming back to Cafe Pinot in the near future.
Dining on the patio adjacent to the historic LA Public Library and surrounded by the tall buildings of DTLA is a very special urban experience.
Garden seating was lovely - downtown skyscrapers surround. Food was very tasty and inventive. Best of all was the staff, which went out of their way to accommodate us with the table we wanted. Service was professional and attentive.
It was obvious from the beginning, when we entered a freezing cold restaurant, that something was off. We opted to sit outside because it was warmer - in February. Our server was obviously new. She served my wine while my husband was in the restroom, and said that they were out of the call brand of gin, but wasn’t sure what they did have. She brought his martini after he had finished his salad. My soup was tepid, and had obviously been sitting for a while. I wanted to substitute French fries for fingerling potatoes with my hangar steak, and was told there would be a $2 charge. The 1/2 jodori chicken arrived as a leg and very dry boneless breast. The steak was not cut on the bias and was served in chunks. The fries were overcooked frozen shoestrings. The desert was an extremely dry 1” x 2” piece of pound cake smothered in whipped cream. The tea was served in coffee cups. Jorge, the assistant manager, apologized for the problems and comped the food. I was going to write to the manager, and when I googled his name, saw an ad for a restaurant manager. It appears they are desperate for management.
Wine was not good cafe pinot you would think great wine
Loved our evening at Cafe Pinot. The server David was fantastic with his recommendations, right amount of presence and he even set up a shuttle for us. The food was fantastic and the setting very pretty with the city lights around us. Close to the downtown museums and music venues.
Everything was comfy, cozy, waiters pleasant and attentive, the Onion Soup was superb, and the dinning area was warm and comfortable.
Food was great. Service was excellent. Our waiter Flavio was fantastic
Lovely Good food. Great s Ambience
I love the downtown views at Cafe Pinot, whether sitting outside with views of the downtown Central Library and grounds, or indoors, on the west side of the restaurant next to the windows with views of the downtown buildings at 5th and Flower. This night we availed ourselves to the special three course Dine LA menu and were treated to great soup and a salmon main course. Service was friendly and prompt and parking, under the library, was free with the restaurant validation. And the Oregon Pinot Noir was well worth the second glass.
Service was impeccable and prompt. The osso bucco was outstanding and was just the right amount for lunch.
Formerly the most romantic restaurant in Los Angeles with marvelous service and extraordinary food--now unfortunately acquired by Patina Group, cooking elaborate recipes they don't execute well, with brash and in-your-face "friendly" staff (we were addressed as "guys"). They had trouble finding my reservation, had great confusion over where to seat us, and actually reported me as a no-show to OpenTable (failed to check me in). The table wobbled and had to be shimmed up mid-meal. Obnoxious pop music and inadequate space heaters in patio, which I suppose they had open because the old Cafe Pinot won an award for "best open-air dining." An octopus starter salad had pickled lemon peel as a nice touch but mealy edamame. My mushroom risotto was grainy and oversalted. Also a quite different crowd from before, because who could enjoy this? Prices on the moderate side, but that's hardly relevant.
All was great. The waiter and assistant Maria were awesome!
Thank you David and Jorge for taking care of us! Always a pleasure to be at Café Pinot and the Dine LA menu was great! Looking forward to our next dinner with you all
We went for DineLA. The service was, as usual, excellent! Big thanks to Jorge and Asim. The food was very good, however, certain items were over salted. All in all, excellent dining in a wonderful, outdoor patio.
Two of us dined tonight and we both thought this was the best food we’d had in Los Angeles. Everything from the starters to the dessert and coffee were exquisite. And the LA Restaurant Week menu was a great value, including the wine pairings. Noteworthy were the broccoli quinoa small plate, and the dinner of the hanger steak and the osso bucco. They were simply delicious. All the staff were attentive and gracious. Jorge was especially so and took such great care to make sure everything was perfect, from where we were seated when we first arrived to the final course and wine pairing. We highly recommend this restaurant. We will be back.
Cafe Pinot was at the top of its game when three of us had dinner on 13 January. Everybody was delighted with their food, and the service was top-notch. Amazing to be able to sit on the balmy patio in January, even without heat lamps!
We randomly selected Cafe Pinot and everything from the staff to food made it a wonderful anniversary.
Fantastic night! Food is excellent, the wine pairings were nice, and it’s a beautiful venue. Great food and healthy serving sizes, with very reasonable rates!
Food was great and brought out within reasonable timing. The menu was diverse and the entire staff was great. The lamb was well cooked, which is important because not everyone knows how to make great lamb.
