Cafe Pinot was a very beautiful restaurant in the heart of downtown. Very romantic spot for Valentines days.
Avoid the Valentine’s Day set menu! Food was over cooked and over salted. Service was subpar! No one even acknowledged the holiday.
We loved the food and the staff. A delightful experience. We’ll definitely return.
amazing food and atmosphere! great, attentive staff
Food was amazing and the service was even better. Everyone was extremely friendly and welcoming.
Beware of parking fees in the underground lot. Cafe Pinot validates 2 hours, but when you're leaving, if you don't put your parking ticket in the pay machine within 2 hours of entering the garage, you'll pay $3.50 for every 10 minutes thereafter.
A wonderful oasis in DTLA! Great place for a quiet dinner--the food was delicious and 'right-sized'. The service was exceptional, and we could sit and talk after our meal without feeling at all rushed out.
Grace was our server she was top notch & knowledgeable. Jorge the manager is also a star player! They both made us feel at home & taken care of! The food is so delectable & the patio where we normally sit was closed due to rain, but they made the indoors just as cozy. This is an all around gem DTLA...you can’t go wrong!!
I took my client here for lunch, food was great! The service was amazing, always checking in to see if everything was ok, nice and quiet too. Great for a business lunch.
What a wonderful restaurant! The general manager, Chriselda Chew, took our lunch reservation and I immediately knew we were in the best of hands. A very personable and knowledgeable professional, her recommendations were spot-on in terms of both the cuisine and the choice of table. In addition, our waiter Hugo provided exceptional service and expert advice. A lovely restaurant, we sat on the patio that day and enjoyed truly delicious food, especially the celeriac soup, Alaskan cod, chocolate bread pudding and the incredible panna cotta. We are already planning our next visit.
The facility and comfort was special. We had a Fixed Menu from blackboard eats. I would rate the food service at a 2 and the service at 3.5. For a 4 coarse meal the coarses were in many respects too large especially the salad. While interesting it could have had more dressing. In the case of the tongue dish I and pretty sure tongue was not used, as it did not have the intensity or consistency, it would have been OK but they should have said something and again it was too much food. My wife's main coarse was market sole and it was rubbery, clearly cooked too much or poor quality to start with, in my case the chicken breast was fine but the squash and other elements were not cooked correctly and effectively non edible or unable to add to the dish except for adornment. It is a nice space and the dishes on the menu were interesting but effectively all poorly executed. The service was attentive but at times too attentive and almost intrusive. It is a hard balance but the better spaces often figure that one out.
Our server Grace was wonderful but the manger George was up and beyond. He really wanted to make sure we had a lovely meal and evening. Dinner was delicious and the ambiance romantic!
Very nice outdoor seating... in the heart of downtown LA!
We were there on a Blackboard Eats discount. The value was excellent, as was the food. But I want to write about the exceptional service. A couple of tables away, a fellow diner in a "happy hour" group of four was frequently interrupting the generally peaceful atmosphere with a piercingly loud laugh (perhaps "cackle" is more accurate). Although my wife and I talked quietly to each other about how annoying it was, we didn't mention it to anyone on the staff. But the staff must have noticed too, and halfway through our meal a server gently ushered the foursome out of our room and into an interior room next to ours. I'm not sure what the foursome was told. Anyway, the manager then came over and asked us if this solution was satisfactory. It certainly was -- even though we had never mentioned the problem to anyone except each other.
Great food. Good value. Nice wine list.
Fantastic! Can't wait to come back again to this establishment!
We went during DineLA. Generally, food wasn’t good. Pork Belly was ok. They served my friend a wrong dish!
Hosted a luncheon for my work. Staff was energetic, sincere and attentive. Food was excellent as was setting. Tha ks
Visiting LA and found Cafe Pinot through OpenTable as it was near our hotel. Glad we did - food and wine were great and our server Grace took good care of us. Would definitely come back when in the city again.
Did the DINE LA menu. We tried 5 of the 9 items between us. All were excellent. The service was above and beyond.
One of the best places in downtown LA to dine before a show or day of exploration. Great food with historic library as a backdrop.
Jorge & Grace took care of us, will be returning!
I don’t know what’s happened to Cafe Pinot. This has been a favorite spot for years, but our most recent experience was a real letdown.
First, the bread was stale, service was spotty. Our entrees were very good. We both had the opah. Things went downhill from there. The dessert was laughable—stale, crumpling cake. What gives? Better to tell us the cake wasn’t available rather than try to pass this off. (In all fairness, it was quickly removed and we were not charged. No one thought to ask if we would like something else.). Just to top off the evening, I ordered a decaf latte and ended up with decaf coffee, and my husband ordered “any type of tea but Earl Gray and promptly received a pot of Earl Gray. We just gave up at that point.
Unfortunate that they no longer provide shuttle service to the Disney Concert Hall. Other than that Cafe
Pinot offers excellent pre concert dinners.
It was good restaurant which greeting New Year. Thank you for your service.
It wasn’t great. Fish was frozen so it was very unevenly cooked. Wine smelled and tasted like lighter fluid. Gelato full of ice crystals. Not Patina group quality.
My only complaints are that we were near the entry door and every time someone opened the door we got a cold draft at our table. There was also a loud office party but that's not the fault of the restaurant. A warmer night might have been better so we could sit outside.
I went with my family for a pre-Christmas holiday dinner after a theater matinee. We ate outside on the patio. The evening was cool, but the heaters were perfect, and we were all very comfortable. The twinkle lights and the city lights were just beautiful. We started with a cheese platter. Delicious. The wine recommendation from Grace, our server, was spot on. We ordered pasta, pepper steak and roasted chicken...all were well prepared and tasty. Our service was impeccable the entire time. We will be back soon!
Everything was very nice. I feel the interior could use a refresh. The food is solid which is what I care most about. And he service was stellar. I’ll Go back to see all of the friendly faces who took great care of us!
Always love to go and eat at this place! Good eats!
I can't rave enough about Cafe Pinot. My boyfriend and I had a magical christmas present date here early in our relationship and we've returned every year to relive that lovely night. The food is outstanding, the service is attentive (to the point where they brought us black napkins so the white ones wouldn't leave lint on our dark fancy clothes), and the vibe calm enough that we really get to feel like we're in a little happy world of our own.
This year was our third annual holiday-time visit and our incredibly sweet waitress, Grace, remembered us from a year ago (and a year before that!) and she and the manager, George, sent us champagne to celebrate, poached figs for dessert, set us up with the best table in the house, and otherwise pampered us beyond belief. We really couldn't be more grateful (and more ready to return weekly if we could afford it)!
Wonderful experience. Everyone was wonderful and very accommodating. The food was marvelous as the ambience.
another great experience dining at Cafe Pinot during lunch with key clients. The room in the middle fit for table of 8 was ideal and setting was beautiful. Cannot ask for more ! Thx
Friendly service, tasty food...love the sea bass, beef tenderloin and pork chop all excellent. Wait staff welcoming and kind. Mgr, George was also gracious and so helpful. A great place to go before performing arts shows
downtown Parking tip- Head S on Flower, stay to your left and past 5th, entrance to parking , 1/2 blk. down, just @ end of yllw. Construction wall. Enjoy!
We had a remarkable experience. This was our first time dining at this restaurant, and the ambience, the wine, the food, and the service exceed our expectations. Our server Grace and the manager, George, went out of their way to make us feel welcomed and valued. We were first provided a complimentary glass of champagne because we were celebrating a special occasion. The appetizers that followed were delicious. Our entrees were out-of-this-world amazing. The tastes, textures and creativity combined to provide a truly unique tasting experience. The evening ended with a complimentary dessert that melted in our mouths. This restaurant is truly a gem in the heart of DTLA. You won't be disappointed. Hands down, one of the best restaurants in LA.
Great staff & service! Recommend trying to Pork Entree!
The ambiance is lovely at Cafe Pinot. The staff was helpful, attentive, and very professional. I was a bit surprised at how much food I got for what we were paying; I'll be honest. It was a bit modest. The dessert we got was not what we expected and it was quite dry, but the server removed it from our bill without asking, so that was an intuitive and appreciated service move.
I actually really like this restaurant, but the above factors might not make it my regular dinner location. There is a lot to appreciate about this restaurant's location, attitude, and thoughtful menu (they have a menu option for people going to the theatre, to help ensure timely departure for the event).
Would recommend! Everyone has different preferences and it is obvious that a high standard is desired here.
We ordered the pre-event prix fix dinner and though it was delicious, the portions sizes were surprisingly small. When asked, the manager indicated that the small sizes were so people could eat their meal before leaving for the play--we were there at 6 for an 8 pm show, so clearly had lots of time to eat. I recommend ordering off the menu, instead.
