This use to be a fine dining experience, but something has happened. I think it’s become a stop on the list of people wanting to experience “Trump.” There are folks walking around in t-shirts and shorts taking pictures of themselves, and taking full advantage of “open to the public.” Whatever happened to a “dress code” or appropriate attire. Something tells me that this is not happening at other Trump owned golf clubs in the east.
Then on this occasion, there were kids everywhere. I kid you not, a kids table of 10-12, not so well behaved part of a larger party, a family of very well behaved children, a baby in a stroller doing what babies do, loudly, and another young man doing, again what a ten year old boy does. Seriously, it was like being in a Denny’s on Friday night, and paying $300 for it.
For us, relative regulars, it’s really disappointing. I miss my old attentive, relaxing upscale experience.
But the new menu was good. They are understaffed, so service is no longer five star, even if we still love our server. Seems the new executive chef is snooty about substitutions. He’s going to need the learn the joys of working in an affluent neighborhood. We want what we want.
I guess I’m mourning our loss of “dress up date night go to place.” On to better places, bit farther away for now.
Cafe Pacific is a very pleasant experience. It is not busy, attentive wait staff but they were changing the menu so our first choice was not available. Nice that it's complimentary valet service. Did spot someone else have afternoon tea and it looked lovely
Good food, great value, and excellent service. We dined on Thursday evening and enjoyed the four-course prefix with wine pairing. It was our anniversary celebration and we enjoyed our dining experience very much.
Ed, the manager, is always attentive and friendly
We celebrated a birthday lunch with 8 girlfriends. Trump
Overall the best restaurant on the peninsula. We were looking for another great restaurant for special occasions. The view was also pretty spectacular. A definite 5 stars.
I often go to Trump's to eat. The bar service was the worst that I have had there. We actually went to the bar and asked for our drinks twice. Something has changed. The place was not full.
On a positive note the food and ambiance was super.
Went to Cafe Pacific for a birthday celebration. Beautiful drive along the coast of the Palos Verde Peninsula. Before dinner, took a pleasant walk on a path to the water's edge. The location is spectacular: great view of the fairway, ocean, and Catalina Island. Requested and got a window view. Gorgeous sunset sky. Quiet atmosphere. Service by our waiter was *outstanding*; very friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Small disappointment that the foie gras was taken off the menu. Definitely exceeded expectations overall, and well worth the visit. Will visit again for afternoon tea and/or Sunday brunch.
Beautiful setting; attentive service but not intrusive so you could pace your meal as you desired, excellent food!
Cafe Pacific is the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion. The delicious food, excellent service, elegant ambience and the beautiful ocean and golf course views make this a “must” on everyone’s favorite restaurant list. Perfect setting for a beautiful wedding, too.
As usual, the food, ambience, and service were superb. Our server, Anthony, spoiled us to the hilt. However, it was 5 PM on a Friday evening, and the noise from the bar was unbearable. (We like to dine in peace and quiet, which is one of the reasons I love this exquisite dining room) I did not deduct any stars from my five star rating because I should have realized there would be a noisy TGIF crowd.
always enjoy lunch or dinner.
wait staff is excellent, they take very good care of you.
cocktails are very nice.
Valet is superb!
Beautiful view and great food.
Business breakfast. Great views and good value, with good menu selections. Also, parking is free.
Food was sub-par: chicken dish completely underwhelming, prime rib was the fattest cut of meat I have ever seen. Most unfortunate for my son, as it was the first time he had ever ordered prime rib. Very disappointing meal for our Easter dinner. :(
Everything was exceptionally good! From the time we were seated until we left we couldn't have asked for a more pleasureable dining experience. Service and food were Wonderful!
Wonderful! Food was fabulous and the service outstanding! Our waiter made sure our cocktails were perfect, too!
Beautiful location with excellent service and delicious food.
They offer a fantastic deal with a Thursday wine dinner. it's a 4 course meal with 3 wine pairings. The menu sounds incredible and we were very excited. I love seafood but was very disappointed. The shellfish (Raw oysters - Mussels) were... gamy and fishy tasting/smelling. I expected super fresh with none of that bonus smells/taste. However, the chilean sea bass was great and the filet was good as well but they did not let you pick how you wanted the steak prepared (came out medium well - I prefer medium rare to rare).
If the seafood was fresh, this would have been an amazing deal and we would be coming back for more Thurdays but we will not be coming back.
Great view, great food, great place to have Valentine's meal.
As always, never disappointed. Service was fabulous (Jeff), valet is excellent, they always recognize you and the bartender, Joel is outstanding.
Fabulous, fabulous service… Scallops are wonderful
We love this place. . and we love it regularly! We're never disappointed by the food, the service nor the setting.
The restaurant has an AMAZING VIEW! The service was not very good. We had to continually ask for things. When the food arrived it wasn't very warm. Overall the food was ok, but not exceptional.
Went for DineLA and it was an absolute disappointment. The restaurant is slow which means low turnover of the food, so the food did not taste and appear fresh. Food took awhile considering there were only 2 other customers dining, my food was not lukewarm and it was the steak frites.
This was a great experience. Large portions with excellent ambiance. The only thing I could critique was the slow service. Recommend to any that can make the drive out.
The prices were completely different from the prices that were posted on OpenTable, by at least 25%. Consistently higher prices than what you had listed on OpenTable. We used to go here quite a bit, but everything has changed. Used to be delicious hashbrowns and now it's preformed frozen hash brown patties. Had hot chocolate, came 3/4 filled, had asked for more and asked for whip cream. The cheese in the omelette wasn't even melted. Took the waiter 20 minutes to even come over and say hello to us. And they were only four tables filled in the whole restaurant! Just awful!
I liked it overall and I would recommend this place to my friends. Food taste good here but the portion is small. Also, I needed like the chocolate creme brulee; it taste like a piece of chocolate, not creamy like at all. Meat cooked very well, delicious.
This is my 3rd time going here for Dine LA, the great service, free parking, amazing views, and delicious food! This time I took my husband here, and he really enjoyed it very much.
BEST PLACE EVER MAGA
The ratings are based on taking advantage of the dineLA event where you get a 3 course lunch meal for only $25. My selections was the clam chowder - flat iron steak - pear tart desert. My wife got the calamari - seafood pasta - and the other desert (can't remember the name). Do NOT order drinks though. She got a mimosa ($13) and we both got coffee's ($5 each) so drinks almost cost as much as the lunch. lol. Great deal for lunch but not sure about the regular menu.
Great experience make America great again I would recommend this restaurant and view to my friends
This is our favorite restaurant in the South Bay.
The food is absolutely amazing. They just changed their menu and so far so great.
I had the Mahi Mahi and it was outstanding.
We love our servers Anthony and Craig and our host Martin. We are always greeted warmly and feel like we are at home.
Had a beautiful dinner there, the service was great, and friendly. The dinner was to die for, really enjoyed my night.
As always, predictable perfect. Server Craig is wonderful, warm and welcoming. The food is really great. Everything from steakhouse basics, to some incredible specials and awesome deserts.
They are constantly having theme nights, pretty fun opportunities to try interesting fare. Sunday is “prime rib” night. To die for perfect prime rib.
All in all one of my family’s favorites
Fabulous food, service, atmosphere. Can't say enough good things.
Excellent service, selection of food, quality and taste. Free flowing Bloody Marys, fresh squeezed OJ, Champagne. Wonderful ambience, a lil pricy but so worth it
We choose the evenings special (3 course meal & paired wine) the wine was OUTSTANDING. THE SALAD & THE FISH (sea bass - lightly grilled) WAS GOOD. THE FILLET SO-SO (it had to much sauce over the meat). I liked the mussels, my wife did not. The Chocolate Mousse was the best Mousse we have had in years (it was not filled with air & had a real chocolate taste). It was really outstanding ! The three kinds of bread were like home baked & very fresh ! Our waiter & his helpers paid attention to us but at the same time were not in our face. We were not rushed & had 2++ hrs. for our dinner. We also could see Catalina Island from out table until it was dark !!
It was a very enjoyable Anniversary evening for us. We have eaten in the BAR & also been there for EASTER this yr. These two other times had us come back.
I wanted to give Trump's restaurant a great rating because the service was good and the views were beautiful but our food was just "okay." When you pay close to $300 for a dinner for two, you expect delicious food. Unfortunately, we would not go back.
