This is the kind of neighborhood place I wish I could find, but I live in New York City. We made a quick stop off in Mount Kisco on our way back to town from a weekend away. Silly me I am always trying to find the chic spot along the highway where we can have a quick dinner, that's elegant. This one impressed me totally. We had the special pasta, and did I mention my husband is vegetarian...? He was happy, too. Thanks we will be back. - MJK
We met another couple for dinner last night after jo having dined here for quite a while. It was very crowded (a good thing for a restaurant!) which made it very loud.
All four of our meals were exceptional - fresh, interesting and great.
And then there was the service. Our waiter took forever to take our cocktail order and longer to get them to us. Okay, may have been because it was so busy with one bartender. But when our friend asked about the sides that came with her meat dish, he was curt, rude and started arguing with her. When her husband asked him not to speak to his wife that way, our waiter started arguing with him! At that point other waiters helped us, with the original one coming back only to take our coffee order and leave the check . Made the evening thoroughly unpleasant and was absolutely unnecessary.
Salmon was disappointing. Chicken excellent though a tad overpriced.
Wow! From stepping into the warm, charming space to bring greeted by the friendly owner, Leslie, we couldn't have asked for a better experience. We got lucky enough to visit for the first time during restaurant week so it was a great value as well (but I'm happy to pay full price for my next visit, because the food was fantastic). The food is slight twists on classic dishes, all farm to table and oh my God the S'more dessert was insane. Can't wait to go back.
We went to try this place during Restaurant Week. The menu choices were limited but we found appealing items. First courses-onion soup and kale caesar-were disappointing. Adequate but not special. Second courses-shrimp and grits and sangria steak-were good but the steak was overwhelmed by amount of fries and lack of green vegetable on plate. Desserts were also ok-probably larger portions than needed. Glad we tried food here but not special enough to return
I won’t with friends for Restaurant Week. We loved the name, and had been recommended to this place by other people, so we decided to go here. We had a wonderful experience. Our waiter was very nice and efficient, and the owner was very friendly, and came around and checked on us a few times. The food not only looks beautiful, but was delicious. We would definitely go back.
We went to Cafe of Love for two reasons — it was participating in Hudson Valley Restaurant Week and I wanted to experience it since my wife spoke pretty highly about her dinner experience with a friend there. So we went. Good location, compelling name. First impression the interior & wibes not quite a match with the name. Fairly noisy (probably just because of a larger, fairly loud party sitting next to us). Restaurant Week menu seemed inviting, my first course was ok but not great, my main course was tasty, my wife’s ok but not delicious. Dessert was good, and all in all our meal was overall pretty good. Good value for money, but in our experience not special.
Disappointed on all levels, wait time, service, food and value. Will definitely not recommend.
We've been to CoL about a dozen times. We consider it a special spot. Love the ambiance and the food is always delicious. This time was a bit chaotic. It was Saturday night, restaurant week and St. Patricks day all rolled into one. The energy was through the roof and less than relaxing. The staff was highly charged and service a bit disjointed. We chose the food off the Restaurant Week menu. While we didn't walk away hungry, the portions were smaller than usual. We hope to try it again one day because we have fond memories, but we'll steer clear of any special events the next time.
Cafe of Love is our "go to" restaurant when we want a local, bit of a special/upscale meal.
It happened to be St. Patrick's Day at our most recent dining experience so, I think that might have been why I was not able to give all five stars. We had a 6:15 reservation and the gentleman who greeted us (don't think he was a host, not sure) was frazzled as there was only one table for two open at that time and it was at the entrance to the restaurant so we were not inclined to take that spot (nor did anyone else, so far as we could tell during our time there), so we sat at the Bar. This person did not seem particularly apologetic. He did say, again, unapologetically, that the available tables were 4 four. The lemon sorbet came in a cute faux cone but the description included mint and lavender and there was none. Details like these I know are important to the owner. That's why we keep coming back and are likely to again and again.
Good food and service as always. My favorite are the chickpeas! To die for!
As usual, our meals were outstanding in terms of both presentation and flavor. I began with the French onion soup which was easily one of the best I've ever tasted. My wife began with the Winter Greens Caesar Salad which is her new favorite. Her Sangria Hanger Steak entree was beyond compare, as was my Shrimp & Gumbo Grits. Topping off our evening were the Sorbet Martini for her and the Peppermint Cheesecake Mousse Martini for me. Only downside to the evening was a waiter who, although pleasant, was more than a bit inattentive. For example, he walked past our table at least six times after we'd obviously finished our entrees before finally stopping to ask what we'd like for dessert and then got my dessert order wrong. Not the level of service we're used to at one of our favorite area restaurants, but not enough to keep us from coming back - probably soon as my wife is afraid her wonderful salad might disappear with the soon to come Spring menu.
We were definitely feeling the love! The food was amazing! Yummy gluten free and vegan options. The decor and atmosphere is beautiful. Cafe of Love is a gem.
The HVRW event selections were not varied and did not showcase the best of the menu. The martini sorbet did not have any martini/sorbet. And the musIc was too loud and the selection was no appropriate.
Great service and the owner even came out to say hello - very welcoming place!
Drinks were delicious. I would have loved a second one, but was never asked. Food was GREAT! I had the Bronzino and would get it again. Would definitely go back.
Keep coming back to this restaurant for occasions and just when a really good meal is in order. The food is consistently superior to others around and the ambience delightful, as is the service. The owner is always friendly and helpful ,making sure to say hello each time I am there. I highly recommend this for fine dining . It has become less noisy over the years, although not sure what prime time Saturday night would be like.
A disappointing, disorganized, and distracted dining experience.
We were a party of 5 friends and we sat around a beautiful table in the front window of the restaurant. Johany, our waiter, welcomed us and promptly took our drink orders. Great cocktails. My wife said she had the best negroni of her life.
Lesley, the owner of café of love, came over to our table and spend some time with us. She is really an amazing woman. Her vision and creativity make this restaurant so special. The menu items change seasonally, and the food is always wonderfully delicious.
Long story short: delightful evening out at the always sublime café of love.
Cafe of Love never disappoints! The menu changes seasonally and has items to please everyone’s dietary choice or taste. Lunch time is a great time to catch up with friends over their famous Farmhouse Salad. Listen to specials because they are a nice add to a well-appointed menu. The chocolate pudding terrine and bread pudding are amazing finishers too.
We had an excellent experience at the Cafe of Love. We were very well greeted and the service was outstanding. The food was great and the overall ambience of the restaurant was superb. There certainly was love in the air as I proposed to the love of my life and I am so happy that she said yes. It was a most memorable moment and we were very happy to have created here at the Cafe of Love.
Decent dinner on a recent Friday night. Had reservations and were greeted warmly and seated promptly. Service was not up to par. Waiter came to the table ready to take orders but had not asked for drinks orders nor told us about the specials. After that was cleared up, we tried to order the duck; but when he checked, it was not available. Hello, it is Friday night and you don't have one of your signature dishes? We re-grouped and ordered another dished. The appetizer was very good and the beet ravioli was delicious. Bouillabaisse was also a solid dish as was the apple dessert. Still not sure about the bread offering along with the hummus spread. Don't seem to go together for me and the bread doesn't quite make it-just not flavorful enough and feels a bit dry(yes, these are not huge negatives.
Overall, a very pretty place with decent choices for each course. The waiter was more attentive as the night went on. We usually save this restaurant for a special occasion.
Wonderful in ever way, a great post Valentines Day celebration.
Enjoyable atmosphere and good service. We were not pressured to hurry up . We all liked what we ordered. Nice waiter !
We ate here for Valentine's Day. The food was delicious as usual and the service was lovely.
Great evening, we enjoyed drinks, appetizer and meal.
Perfect spot for Valentines Day! Everything was great.
Poor service. Great food.
My husband and I celebrated Valentine’s Day at Cafe of Love. The drinks, dinner, and atmosphere were all exceptional. The service was great and the owner checked in with us to make sure everything was to our liking. We’ll definitely be back!
Beautiful restaurant. Nice ambience. Service was incredible . The French onion soup was delicious. The farm salad was so large I took half home. My friends hangar steak was perfectly cooked and tasty. Love this restaurant!!
We have been to the Cafe of Love many times. Never does it disappoint. Always consistently good if not great. And the bread pudding staple is the perfect way to eat a beautiful dinning experience. Thank you.
The pastrami Ruben sandwich was delicious. House made pastrami super tender with crispy rye bread. YUM! My server was very attentive. Very nice cafe I will be back!
Nice quiet little place with good service and a very interesting and diverse menu. We will definitely go back there the next time we are in the area. Very enjoyable experience.
We were looking for a place to eat an early dinner. Saw the cafe if love was nearby, had good ratings and it was open for business in the early afternoon. A nice find. The menu had variety and the atmosphere was very pleasant. Great service. Will go here again when in Mt Kisco.
This visit to a usual favorite was not up to par. Our server, though efficient, was rushed and seemed annoyed in general. He had little patience and was halfway on his way while taking any part of the order. We both ordered the crepe special, which was okay - I would not order again. The salmon tasted fishy and the filling was loose and runny. To make things less appealing, the woman behind us was coughing tragically throughout the meal. Despite her companion asking for water several times (don't know if it was delivered when asked) she really had a horrible case of a cold and cough, which was quite off putting (I know that sounds self-centered but it was within an arm's reach of us). Going to write this one off to the full moon and try again because usually service, though never warm and fuzzy, is usually more attentive and kind and the food is usually memorable in a good way.
Very good for lunch. Good food and great service. This was my first time. Had heard good things and confirmed it.
Never disappoints. I've been coming to Cafe of Love for years and each time I fall more and more in love with the food, ambiance and service.
Best truffle chick peas ever! Cocktails had too too much ice which is usually the case so it wasn't worth the cost unless you are spending hours there milking the bar.
We had a lovely Sunday morning date at a cozy and romantic place. Very easy to find from the parkway; lovely French rustic décor. The waiter was a little bit brash at the beginning but thankfully warmed up. Very good steak and eggs and flourless chocolate cake (with nuts, not too rich or too sweet, it was just right.)
Discriminated for being party of 3
This dinner was to celebrate a special occasion and I personally called the restaurant the day before to confirm my reservation and requested a nice table for the occasion and I was assured they would accommodate us. We were seated at the WORST table in the house, I was basically sitting part of the hallway in front of the restrooms. I mentioned to the hostess that it was a special occasion and asked for another table when I was rudely told that all the other tables, that were empty, were for 4 people and this was the only table for 3. Our table was a standard table that could accommodate 3 or 4 just like all the other tables in the restaurant but she was unwilling to accomodate us because we were 3 people. I was embarrassed by her tone and how she made my guests feels. I decided to stay so not to embarrass my guests any further, but no one apologized or tried to make us feel welcome which was so unprofessional. I have been to Café of Love many times in the past which is why I chose this but in the future I will take my business to a restaurant that cares about their guests and the experience they have.
