Café Napoli Ratings and Reviews
We had reservations which is probably a requirement on a Saturday evening. We were seated in the bar area, I’m not sure why. Our reservations were for 5:45 and we were early so it was quiet at first. By the time we were eating our entree we could hardly hear each other. The bar was crowded and there were several loud, excitable people there.
The food was perfectly cooked and the service was very good. Desserts and coffee were good also. We both ordered specials and knew the prices. There are much cheaper items in the menu that looked good also. So even though it wasn’t a surprise for $100pp I hoped for something closer to exceptional.
We would go back again but probably be a little less extravagant.
Café Napoli never disappoints. Me and my boyfriend have gone several times to celebrate special occasions like birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays. The food is always fantastic and the service is always prompt and attentive. We love the calamari. It’s to the point we don’t go anywhere else if we are in the mood for something a little more upscale.
Was in town for a few days and had several business dinners throughout the week. Lots of good restaurants in Clayton but this one stuck out the most. Service, food, attention to detail was absolutely spot on. See you in a few weeks Napoli and job well done!!
It was my second time dining here from a couple years ago. Decor was updated and fresh, elegant and sophisticated. It's nice to see the owners take care in their establishment! Food was outstanding, as well as service. Our sever was attentive but not annoying, engaged at just the right times. Went to Bar Napoli afterward which was great (don't skip the Espresso Martini)! Napoli is now one of my favorite go-to places! Can't wait to go back!
Had a drink in the bar while we waited for our table. Service in the bar was slow and inattentive. Service in the restaurant was good, but the food was not. Salads were basic and tended to be soggy, as if they had them dressed a long time before being served.Prawns in a pasta dish were so over cooked they almost couldn’t be cut, and there were fibrous chunks of inedible artichoke hearts or hearts of palm in one salad. We let our server know, and he was responsive and made a small adjustment to the bill. The ciopionno was thick and dark, more like a gumbo, and had few distinguishable bits of seafood, it felt more like the place the leftover bits of fish went. Overall the cooking was uninspired and we wouldn’t recommend it.
I've been to Napoli many times and it's always great. It's a bit dark at night and hard to read the menu. The food is always great although my fish was on the cold side. I didn't send it back because I didn't see our waiting for a long time after we got our food and then I figured I wouldn't get it back until after everyone was done eating. My other friend did't like her pasta at all and said the scallops tasted a bit old. The service was very slow and I really hate writing negative things about Napoli b/c honestly it's usually way better than this.
37th Wedding Anniversary. We had a gift card, never been before. Very glad we took advantage of the gift card. Lovely, quiet, terrific food and great service! Would highly recommend to others, but a bit above our budget, but worth every dollar! Love the location, very nice.
From the moment we entered Cafe Napoli, the staff was attentive and friendly. The drink menu on the iPad waiting on us as we set down had a very extensive wine list and specialty drinks. We recommend the chocolate cherry & lemon drop martinis. Our server, Jerome, was not only knowledgeable, but very concerned with making sure we had an excellent experience. The chef/s did an outstanding job and only added to our evening with fantastic entrees cooked to perfection. We'll be back and have already told our friends and clients about this wonderful St. Louis gem.
Cafe Napoli has been a consistently good place to eat for many years. The wait staff is attentive and knowledgeable. Wine selection is good; the house wines are unusually good. Cuts of meat are very impressive , the cioppino is my favorite. They do veal particularly well.
Cafe Napoli is probably THE restaurant in St. Louis to see and be seen. When the patio is open there is no better place to people watch in town. I love it. My wife and I also thoroughly enjoy the delicious food. In terms of service it’s outstanding with a professional feel that very few places have in the STL. Of particular note is our favorite server there, Sarah.
Regardless of what you may or may not have heard about the attached Bar Napoli don’t let that stop you from giving Cafe Napoli a try. Hurry while the weather is still nice!
Had an 8:15pm seating. We were guided to a Taber in a bar area. Difficult to hear. Waiter was excellent. I did not complain, as there was nothing that could be done. I'll reject a table in the bar again unless I am wanting a casual time. People were having fun. I was on a date. I planned to "eat big." 175$ with tip. I regret staying where we were seated.
We had a group of 8 and everything went great. We were seated right away, the service was excellent and the food was amazing. The waiter notified valet when we were leaving, and our car was waiting for us when we exited the restaurant. We will definitely be back!
Our last couple of visits have been hit or miss but this go-around was a bit hit! We sat on the patio on a beautiful evening & their guitarist amplified the atmosphere! Our waiter couldn't have been better in all respects & we both loved our entrees...mine a lamb chop special in the most delectable berry reduction & cooked perfectly & his the veal Marsala which he gets there often & didn't disappoint! His martinis were perfectly crafted & my wine was nice. It's pricey but if you expect that it's a beautiful evening!!
Our table of six thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our dinner; great food, drinks and beautiful evening with friends. One can have a traditional Italian fare but one can also find tasty heart healthy foods to enjoy as well. Always great food and service and Napoli did not disappoint yet again last night. We don't always remember to go to Cafe Napoli but it should be a regular visit!
