Absolutely delicious meal in a very cool setting. Highly recommend.
A lovely ambiance. Nice table by the window and didn’t feel crammed in. Our waitress was great really friendly and good sense of humour. Food was lovely. Would definitely go again
Have walked past this restaurant many times and never been in. What a find. It is now my go to restaurant for all my theatre trips. Really nice layout ( we sat downstairs but next time will go upstairs as it looked really nice with the open balcony). The service was excellent and the food really tasty.
We were a little rushed in the end but the staff accommodated is really well.
Lovely decor and ambience. Music a touch instrusive as too loud. Food was good but very small portions. Drinks very expensive.
We had a lovely meal with friends on Saturday evening. Everybody was extremely welcoming and the food was delicious. We will definitely return when we are next in the area.
Lovely ambience. We were seated upstairs and had an amazing view of the beautiful downstairs bar and chandelier. Service was good and the good was very good and not too fancy. We had a Calamari starter/Prawn Cocktail both delicious and then crab tagliatelle (excellent) and the chicken (very good). Nice desserts. wine was reasonably priced and the whole meal was around £45 per head. Would definitely return. Booking essential as it got very busy.
Perfect spot for pre-theatre meal, couldn’t fault it
We had a brilliant afternoon at Café Monico! The staff were very friendly and could not have done more for us. The food was very good, excellent quality and very tasty. We should have been in Paris but the staff at Café Monico made us feel very welcome and we enjoyed a leisurely lunch without being rushed.
Super place to have lunch! The fixed price lunchtime menu is excellent value for money. The house red wine went perfect with the steak.
The staff are friendly and efficient.
The only reason I did not give full marks is because I did not enjoy the large, chewy prawns in the prawn cocktail starter with its one and only lettuce leaf. They had not removed the intestinal tract in the prawns either! This is a ‘must’ for me!
Excellent service from very friendly staff. Lovely food at very reasonable prices. All in beautiful and vibrant atmosphere. What's not to love!? Highly recommended.
Lovely staff and venue in a great location for the Apollo theatre etc
Great for a pre theatre meal. Service was very speedy and good value for money in the area.
My 2nd visit to this marvellous place and I can’t wait to go back for a 3rd. The service is excellent, the food is outstanding and the prices are so good for London. The surroundings are gorgeous and the ambiance is buzzy. Highly recommend.
Lovely decor but menu had a bit of a “chain” restaurant about it. We ordered a glass of red wine and had to chase it up 4 times
La nourriture était vraiment fade et sans goût. Aucun intérêt.
Food was very bland and watery. I ordered the sea bass and my friend ordered the gnocchi with pesto. The food took an hour; gnocchi was cold and the sea bass was literally dripping in oil and the broccoli was over boiled and soggy. Cocktails were priced £10, yet did not look like cocktails when they arrived, very disappointing. The cafe itself is very pretty and the ambience was nice. The waitress was attentive and very polite. However, overall, really not happy with the quality of food.
Delicious food and romantic ambience at very reasonable prices.
What a fabulous place, now to put in order of food quality, service, cost, ambience...it’s so difficult because you cannot fault this restaurant. Smack bang in the heart of the west end theatre district, my wife and I ate here prior to watching a show.
Food delicious, beautifully presented, served amazingly quickly, and with a smile from our waitress, just the perfect place, I would recommend to anyone.
The new manager and waiter were fantastic! I took my girlfriend for her birthday and the made her feel very special on such an occasion. I will be back and look forward to the next cocktail menu and music
A nice place but felt very overlooked by waiting staff - our main meal took ages to arrive and when asked where it was the waiter apologised and said his colleagues should have cleared our starters and bought our meals out.... Had to twice wave to waiting staff to get their attention (hate doing that but we would have been late for theatre otherwise). need more staff. Husband's birthday - no time for the chocolate bomb the waiter offered us. Not impressed
Excellent find in the middle of London. Easily accessible by public transport and close to Chinatown. I enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere with old world style. Food was delicious...particularly the cheesecake. Service superb. I’d highly recommend.
Very pleasantly surprised, much better menu, venue and ambiance than The Ivy restaurants which i would compare to
Great atmosphere and geared up to delivery excellent food in time for a pre theatre dinner. Excellent experience.
Absolutely appalling food. If you like food, you won’t like it here.
I often eat at Cafe Monico when I visit the UK for work. Unfortunately the service was very poor - perhaps a shortage of staff?
Locely place. The decor and the food are great - at unbeatable prices
Amazing food, especially the buratta starter! Beautiful restaurant, super romantic!
Great food at a great price on the prix fixe menu. Waitress was slightly abrupt but I guess it was because she was busy.
Took my partner for dinner before going to the theatre, service, food and overall was AMAZING, had the most wonderful time!! The service crew where brilliant, so polite, nothing was to much trouble.
My husband & I ate at Café Monico having had it recommended to us by our son. We arrived early for our pre Theatre meal & were shown to our table (window, upstairs) which gave ample opportunity to people watch!
We went for the Prix Fixe option which was served promptly. Portion size was generous. We both opted for the moules frites which was tasty but we both commented on how gritty the moules were, which was disappointing. The atmosphere was great and the restaurant full by the time we left at 6.45pm. Booking essential. Overall, an enjoyable experience.
Ideally situated in the middle of theatre land. The varied menu is good value, however drinks are a tad expensive. The food quality was very good as was the service. Have used this restaurant on more than one occasion and will certainly use it again. Highly recommended.
We had a lovely meal at Cafe Monaco. Service was friendly and efficient. Really good food and great wine. Would come back again!
A great location for the theatres. The meal was delicious, great value for money. We requested a table upstairs and the atmosphere was wonderful.
We had an early evening meal pre-theatre; the location makes this place particularly suitable for that. This is straightforward bistro-type food, efficiently produced and served. I doubt anyone would go here for a full evening out, but what it does it does well.
For a pre theatre meal this was fantastic. Steak Frites normally means thin cut steak and a few skinny chips but here the steak was meaty and plenty of fries. Prawns in the prawn cocktail were jumbo prawns. Service was impeccable and the setting was great ... get an upstairs table overlooking the downstairs and chandelier. Honestly could not fault this!!! 😁😁
We enjoyed a very nice relaxed meal- we chatted, ate & drank for a long time without being hassled or hurried . Excellent
Great service and food at reasonable prices.
Lovely place. Great music, and lovely ambience. Steak cooked as I asked for it but very chewy. Booked a month in advance and asked for a table upstairs - got there and put at a tiny table right at the back, downstairs, by the kitchen. We where moved to a nicer table but not upstairs. Deserts where lovely, and huge!
We didn’t like the coffee strange bitter aftertaste went for breakfast not very busy better places nearby same value.
Very nice service though
Reliably very good. Decent tables -with enough space between. Pleasant service. Perfectly adequate selection of not over pricey wine. Calm atmosphere. Excellent location for Soho and environs.
