Café Monarch Ratings and Reviews
After doing lots or research on restaurants for our Scottsdale vacation, I was excited to experience Cafe Monarch. However, I got the vibe of an expensive high end resort dining experience with a 5 course meal and AARP members. Just ok in my book.
One of our favorite restaurants in the US without question. The new location is very beautiful but miss the old intimate courtyard very much. Fortunately the great service and food made up for missing the original location. The new space will eventually come to feel like the original. Truly a Scottsdale gem!!
The poor quality of my filet did not meet my standards. My wife's Lobster Ravioli was served luke warm and had to be reordered delaying her eating with the other members of the party. The service was outstanding and the ambiance of the restaurant was excellent.
Best restaurant that we've found on our trip to Scottsdale.
Everything is first class.
Would recommend without hesitation although, one caveat, it's close to $200 per head, with one of the less expensive bottles of wine, but for a special occasion, it's perfect.
You would think that critiquing this restaurant is easy... well; let me tell you something: yes. it is. Describing the full experience is a challenge if you wish to be as informative and accurate as you should be. So, in my best ability to succinctly express our view I am writing here that this place is gastronomically superior and amazingly gratifying. Top of the list. And, the service (mainly by Kellen) is impeccable. We definitely are coming back with our friends.
Such a gorgeous space and warm, welcoming staff. Lovely food, beautifully plated. Wonderful hand craft cocktails. Just a few hiccups on service, for instance no one noticed I was wearing black and I had to ask for a dark napkin. Also food servers got tables mixed up by bringing the wrong course to our table, twice. Since it was a tasting menu and we did not order the same selection for each course, we would like to have had each of the courses when brought to our table described when presented. We have ready raved about Cafe Monarch to friends, and are planning a return engagement.
A splendid dinner in a romantic setting with great food and even better matched wines and an attentive waiter. A thoroughly enjoyable experience, only slightly marred by the fact they have an outdated credit card system whereby they still use s swipe action that resulted in the card being blocked. The same card worked elsewhere, but the card provider said it was the old fashioned system the trader was using that caused our card payment to be denied, causing some problems. Nevertheless it was sorted by a lift back to our hotel, so overall the evening was great.
The food was fabulous. Interst8ng flavors and it is fun to have set menus with smaller portions. Even with the smaller portions, there was a lot of food. The wait staf was attentive without being hovering
They works easily with substitutes for diet restrictions
Almost perfect - wonderful food, and the wine pairings were fabulous. The only negative thing was we were outside on a January night, and I could smell the fuel from the many patio heaters, or maybe the gas fireplace. My husband couldn't smell it but it bothered me a bit, at first. The food - four courses - was simply delicious.
We went to Cafe Monarch on a recent trip to Scottsdale. It was, by far, the best meal we had while we were there. It is a four course offering with the price determined by the entree you choose. I started with a cauliflower soup and my husband had the rock shrimp. Both were delicious! Second course was a salad with beets and a garnish of pork belly and honeycomb. For the third course, my husband hanger steak and I had crab cakes, both wonderful. For our entrees, I had beef tenderloin and my husband had seafood risotto. A very knowledgeable sommelier helped us with wine. We were too full for dessert, but everything else was so good we didn’t care! My husband said if we had gone on our first night instead of our last, he might have eaten every dinner at Cafe Monarch.
Convenient valet parking on arrival. Great new building - stunning in fact. Service is amazing. Food was off the hook good. Waiter recommended wine pairings - a sancerre and a cabernet. One of our guests said it was the best meal she has ever had in Scottsdale. Couldn't fault anything during the whole evening. Executed at a very high level and we all were talking about the experience days after. Treat yourself!!!!
The New Year's Eve menu was wonderful. Perfect serving sizes. Exceptionally well-prepared. The cauliflower soup was the best we have ever tasted. They adroitly provided a variety of vegetarian options for our son. Delightful service. The new location is full of charm and warmth. I highly recommend Cafe Monarch for a special occasion.
