Cafe Momentum is a non-profit restaurant that serves as a paid post-release internship for juvenile offenders. Youth are released from detention into the sheltered environment of Café Momentum’s post-release program. Café Momentum’s program teaches critical skills that allow youth to re-enter society in a safe, real-world environment of nurturing accountability. By participating in our program, at-risk young people rotate through every aspect of the restaurant from waiting tables to washing dishes, while working side-by-side with established chefs.

The paid internship gives them the opportunity to exercise and practice their new skills while continuing to develop leadership, social, and vocational skills for as long as they choose to maintain involvement with Café Momentum. Additionally, Café Momentum works with the Dallas County Juvenile Justice Department to serve youth deemed highest risk for incarceration.

We attended Sunday Supper with Jon Muq for our wedding anniversary and had a truly wonderful experience. It was priced reasonably as an all inclusive evening that included a three course (salad, entree and dessert) served family style at three long tables followed by a special musical performance. Our meal and the service were excellent. Beer and wine flowed generously and Jon Muq’s musical performance was outstanding! But best of all, dining at Cafe Momentum supports their truly special mission of helping juvenile offenders create a new productive and crime free life for themselves. If you want to have a great meal and help transform lives, Cafe Momentum will fill your belly and your heart.

Great to meet the different chefs, Pastry, Sous and main Chef with Cred!!! And of course the staff and stories! The best part! So yummy, healthy even and looked fantastic!! From apps to dessert! Have to go back soon and more often

Warm and welcoming environment. Food was delicious. Staff was engaging, attentive and professional. The chef came to our table and as we were leaving, we met the pastry chef as well. Her Avocado Cheesecake is not to be missed - you’ll talk about it for the rest of the evening. We will definitely go again, especially with their changing menu. A hidden gem in downtown Dallas.

Service, food, and experience there was outstanding. Braised lamb with horseradish grits were delicious. Have never been disappointed with any of the meals I’ve had there.

Another fantastic wine dinner at Cafe Momentum. They have an incredible mission and produce a wonderful meal and experience. We took the Red Line train from the north and got off on Akard just a block from the restaurant. It is a fun trip worth your time. We plan to be regulars to their bi-monthly wine dinners, but their standard menu is exceptional also.
