The food was okay, the location was great, the service was rather spotty. The waiter was slow to respond to a request for butter and bring us our check. The waitress taking care of the tables around us topped my tea while our waiter was MIA. He was not very attentive and almost ignored us. Too bad because we were looking forward to visiting this restaurant. Not sure we will return.

The Modern never disappoints. Terrific food, fresh, innovative, always ask about any specials or sharables. Flawless service and a gorgeous view. A Sunday brunch treat. Beautiful experience.

Iwe ordered wienerschnitzel . Side dish which was supposed to be potato salad consisted of 1 small fingerling potato cut into 4 slices !! This is ridiculous no matter how you look at this . It offended me as a customer . There was plenty of serving of dressing for arugula salad . Wienerschnitzel was dry , curled like french fry . I complained about this dish and received free dessert .. but I would rather have good meal instead . It was my go to restaurant to invite my guests .. but now I am afraid to do it again . I raved about this place .. and felt hortible when this dish was placed in ftont of me and my guest . Total miss .

Went to have a very quick Saturday lunch at the Cafe just before our show and it was wonderful. Salads came quickly and they were delightful. The blue cornbread was an absolute fabulous one. Highly recommend!

My husband’s soft omelet a wonder to behold; my burger, good but not great. My virgin Mary, delicious! Service was pretty slow… but in such a delightful setting, who cares?

Food is creative and well executed. Lovely, light fried onion rings (air fried?), tasty chicken salad with light ginger sauce, wontons and candied peanuts; fried green tomato sandwich and crispy French fries - all delicious. Excellent, friendly service from Gabby in a cool, comfortable ambiance. Highly recommend Cafe Modern!

We went at brunch on a Sunday, so much busier than other visits. Seated promptly and as always, the food was excellent. The atmosphere is lovely. We are regulars and will continue to be.

I had been to Cafe Modern once before and I remember enjoying it. This visit, however, I was not impressed. Although, they have a great variety on their menu and some specials, I found the food mediocre and expensive. I ordered curry chicken salad on a croissant which came with a side of leaf lettuce and some pale looking tomato slices. The croissant was partially burned, and there was a very small scoop of chicken salad inside. Most of the plate was covered in leaf lettuce which did have a very nice light vinegarette. The cost was $18.00. My friend ordered a rice bowl with salmon. The waitress said they were out of salmon. So my friend asked if they could substitute chicken. It was so bland, she asked the waitress to bring her some ginger which they did. The cost was $20.00.

This is a nice setting on the lake. Food is varied and pretty good. Some throughly enjoyed the meal. Others found some of the flavor either too much or different. This is a good brunch venue. Would like to see more breakfast items as plates rather than ala carte.

The museum and the cafe never disappoint. I remember the day they opened in 2002. I always order the Chinois salad. It’s exactly like the ones I was served in Santa Monica and Vegas, delicious!

We are fairly frequent diners at Modern at the brunch. I love the atmosphere and service. We’ll go before programs at Kimbell. Time works perfectly: church, brunch, KAM program at 2. I love it.

It's always a pleasure to have lunch at The Modern, and we will return for sure. The chicken salad was overdressed, too sweet, and with very little chicken. Our server assured us it was a Wolfgang Puck classic, so I wonder if it was prepared correctly. If so, I'm disappointed in Wolfgang Puck. Also the menu is pretty limited. I think it used to offer more options, but I could be wrong as those were the pre-pandemic days. Aside from that, the service was efficient and courteous. Ambience is wonderful. The Modern is a DFW treasure.

Have been to Cafe Modern a few years ago, so my comparison is to that first visit. I was a little underwhelmed by the food and atmosphere this time. The rice bowl was bland and dry and the plating was colorless. The Fried green tomato sandwich had all the components for a great meal, but would have been more pleasant to eat as a grilled cheese with greens and fried green tomatoes on the side. Nice flavors, but nothing stayed between the bread and it was messy to eat. Maybe we just ordered wrong this time, but it did not measure up to my expectations. It is convenient if you are visiting the museum.
