My favorite tapas place. Brought friends there on many occasions. Excellent food, nice ambiance and friendly staff. On this visit our favorites were the scallops, grilled calamari, avocado salad. But there was not one thing we did not like. Thank you Marbella!!!
Met a friend here as a quick location change, first place had 1.5 hr wait. Not disappointed at all. It's BYOB but also has a nice selection of wines and cocktails. All plates came at a good pace and we probably over ordered. Their daily specials that night included a killer salmon (description should have stated mashed potatoes were included) and perfectly tender spinach ravioli. The only downside was that it was pretty cold in there. Originally was going to be seated close to the door, but I asked to be moved further down. They accommodated with no issue. We would have been frozen within the first half hour. The wine definitely warmed us up, but but should have been that cold in there.
Absolutely delicious Spanish tapas, fresh and tasty, describe this neighborhood restaurant in Jefferson Park. Cafe Marbella was BYOB for several months, if not years after opening. It now has a full bar with BYOB only on Tuesdays. There is no corkage fee! Very reasonable prices. Highly recommend.
This is gem! The food is creative but not overly so. Service is attentive and friendly. You can't go wrong choosing Cafe Marbella for Spanish food / tapas. Lots of super options. We try to order a lot from the specials menu and fill in from the regular menu. Love the avocado bacon and goat cheese salad. The scallops were a favorite of many of our group. Save room for their yummy desserts!
With out-of-town family visiting Chicago, we gathered our group for a dinner at Cafe Marbella. Two of our five are vegetarians and found many delicious dishes that suited them, including the Veggie Paella. Other favorites are the avocado salad, patatas bravas and the queso de cabra. Maria is the perfect hostess and sporting her summer hairstyle: blonde!! Wow. We will return, again and again.
As always, dinner was spectacular. In addition to the special avocado salad, we chose a tomato prosciutto offering. Then, we had 3 main courses from the specials menu, chicken in a pastry puff, salmon, and scallops. Finally, the 4 of us shared 2 slices of goat cheese cake. We ordered dessert first--because sometimes the restaurant runs out. It's very popular!
We took advantage of corkage free Tuesdays to bring our own bottle of wine since we were celebrating the retirement of one of our group.
If you enjoy tapas, this restaurant never disappoints!
We went there on a Wednesday evening for a birthday celebration it was a party of four the service was less than desirable I had to ask for a glass of wine 3 times before I actually received it it was better when it was BYOB previous the shrimp Nest was very greasy and the figs were kind of sweet the tuna and bananas were good but that was a special not sure it's on the menu every day bottom line he have patience when you go there and maybe try a Tuesday when it is BYOB it is a fun atmosphere however.
I've been to Cafe Marbella probably 20 times. This one was yet another great meal. If possible, the food was even better than previously. The specials, particularly the duck/fois gras sausage, the sole, and the mussels in spicy tomato sauce were just outstanding. The chef also took more care with creative presentations (not that they were ever bad before). Pair all that with excellent standards (e.g. patatas riojanas), free parking, and BYO Tuesdays and Cafe Marbella is a "must-go."
This restaurant never disappoints. In addition to the regular menu, there are always specials. We tried the mahi mahi and dover sole. Amazing! In addition, save room for dessert. The goat cheese cake is to die for. Since they could run out--it's a favorite--I always reserve a piece as soon as I'm seated!
Food is excellent.
Service there always seems a little slow with a big group. Not sure they always have enough wait staff, but our waiter was very nice, helpful and funny.
I would definitely go back again. The food is unique and delicious and reasonably priced.
Tapas are always good at Marbella. We had nonmeat tapas, including codfish, calamari, and manchego cheese. Garlic is a strong flavor in most of the tapas, but never to excess. We appreciated the fact that even though they now have a liquor license, you can still bring in your own wine for $10 corkage. This keeps the price at this comfortable restaurant quite moderate.
We will return again soon.
We come to Cafe Marbella fairly often. Usually, we order whatever fish is on their specials. This time, we started with an avocado and goat cheese salad which is one of my favorites. We did not choose the fish this time, but instead had the lamb tapas served with mashed potatoes, chicken skewers served with creamy rice, and pan-fried angel hair pasta with shrimp. Everything was beautifully presented and tasted wonderful. We ended with a creamy-crunchy creme brulee, split three ways. I could not recommend this restaurant more!
