The food was exquisite. The service was attentive, knowledgable and friendly. The food was white glove but the atmosphere was warm and familial. Our server had a wonderful grasp of the menu as well as the chef. I hope they can make it in Red Bank and they stick around for a while. I look forward to enjoying their outdoor space in the summer. 5 stars. Well done!
‘‘Twas the night before my husband’s birthday. We stayed in Red Bank for the weekend and had tickets to see a comedy show at the count Basie theater. This is a byob with a very reasonable prix fixed on Sundays which I did not realize until we arrived. The food was delicious and good value. The service was attentive and the room was beautifully decorated with lovely artwork. We enjoyed our dinner very much and highly recommend the place. We will return when we are in the area.
Great, relatively new, BYOB addition, to the Red Bank dining scene. Service could not have been more attentive the Sunday night I went, and the Sunday only prix fixe menu I ordered from, though limited, is a bargain (the main menu appeared to be fairly priced for this quality, but on the high end). The restaurant is sleek, chic, and romantically cozy all at once, and the perfect choice of music piped into the dining room, played at an appropriate volume, only added to the vibe (wish I knew what it was). I indulged in piping hot, creamy, butternut squash soup, to start; savored the expertly cooked salmon as an entree; and binged on the perfect profiterole for dessert. I would have preferred a bit more time between my soup and salmon courses on this moderately busy Sunday night but, even though I was dining alone, I never felt rushed. However, this is mere quibbling in light of the exceptional quality of my meal and overall experience. Go now!
Overall we thought it was an excellent restaurant. We thought the food was delicious and the service was very good. We were greeted nicely and seated quickly. The only complaint was we thought the scallop entre was small for the cost, only given 3 scallops.
Wonderful food, but the portions were almost comically tiny. We actually laughed out loud when the $34 scallop entree arrived with 3 scallops and no side dishes. I would return, but only if I ate a very hearty late lunch beforehand!
Simple, clean, fresh food , attentive service in a comfortable setting. Noise level is low, by design.
All in all, an addition to the fabvorite place list!
the food here is thoughtfully prepared, interesting ingredients. that it is hidden away down at the far end of broad st with no signage makes it a bit of a sleeper, we wouldn't have tried it were it not recommended to us by friends but very glad we did. a great change from usually Staten Island Heights cuisine that red bank usually features.
Food was excellent. Scallops were delicious. The service needs improving. I will wait awhile to go back to give them time to work on their service
Food was absolutely amazing!! Highly recommend!!!
This was my 3rd time at Café Loret. I had been to a few of Dennis Foy's restaurants in the past and we always loved them and were thrilled to find a new one so close in Red Bank.
The service is excellent, even when they are thrown a few hoops to jump thru.
The food has been sensational. Both the crab tian and gnocchi appetizer were excellent.
I had the steak before but on Valentines Day I had this puff pastry filled with lobster, shrimp and crab on a lobster bisque base that was sensational!!.
I will continue to go back. Everyone should try it!!
We have been here before and enjoyed it. I thought it would be a good choice for Valentine's Day. Unfortunately, we were disappointed as the service was poor at best. They never brought us bread even though other tables were given bread. We had to request steak knifes. Dirty plates were left on our table and not taken away. Water glasses were not refilled. The menu was not explained and my wife ordered something that should have been explained. We had to request our bill multiple times
We were never served bread but surrounding tables were. The gnocchi appetizer was bland and the filet cut was average. Service was friendly but slow. We asked for our check and waited a half hour and ended up getting up and Getting our own check. The table next to us was wiped down in bleach and left a odor through out the last half of our meal. In no rush to go back. Want to like the place but our second time there did not win us over.
Always a great dining experience! And also a terrific staff that takes very good care of us... ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
We were a party of four people and all four appetizers and all four entrées were uniformly excellent. Don’t miss the tian of crab!
From the minute we walked in we were greeted by the owner with a big smile. Our table was by the window. The waiter answered all our questions and was professional. Food was delicious we started with the tortellini and mushroom crepe. Main courses were snapper and rack of lamb both cooked to perfection. Can’t wait to go back. A great accent for Red Bank.
Outstanding food and service. Very classy restaurant
Our third visit and always very impressed with the quality of the food and service (last time the restaurant was very busy and service suffered because of it, not an issue before) Definitely coming back.
Lovely ambiance. Everyone was very courteous and welcoming. The menu was short but each dish ordered was excellent. The delay between the appetizer and entree was annoyingly long, and the restaurant was only 2/3 full but the food was very enjoyable. The noise level was very high making conversation difficult for some of us. I will definitely dine there again.
It was fantastic !!!!!
Food was great! Prices were reasonable for the quality and presentation. BYOB helped !
I love Nicholas but Cafe Loret is right up there.
Food and service at this local farm to table BYOB was excellent. Our only comment is their NYC prices - a bit steep for a small cafe. However, the high cost of dining here didn't seen to effect their patrons- as every table was taken!
Service was very good and friendly. Food was fantastic! And the restaurant has a great ambience
Everyone was very very welcoming, polite employees, very clean restaurant. Food was delicious, crab cake appetizer was a big hit. I had the local fish Fluke came with creamy spinach in their specials, I was very impressed! We had a toddler with us, towards the end of the meal he wanted to roam around then chef invited him to kitchen to keep him occupied and they brought him a candle on a cake to pretend it was his birthday. We thought it was very sweet. I definitely highly recommend this place, good food, cozy atmosphere, very nice employees.
Food is outstanding. Love the BYOB.
Outstanding food. Very long dinner. Staff seems you have a bit of attitude
Our first time at Cafe Loret. The food was very good. The crab cake was outstanding! The gnocchis were velvety smooth and delicious! For dinner we had the Fluke over spinach which was simple but delicious. The scallops were rich and tasty. It did appear that there was only one server for the entire restaurant which was crowded. There were a number of food runners but there was a lack of attention by the server. Our appetizers came out in a timely fashion but we waited approximately 45 minutes for our entrees. We didn’t stay for dessert for fear of waiting another 45 minutes to be served.
I am hoping that this isn’t normal for the restaurant. I will give it another chance because the food and atmosphere was really good. Hopefully they work out what ever went wrong on 1/12.
Excellent food one of the best in the area. Great staff that did not miss a beat when our 20 month old escaped from his high chair .
Thank you for being understanding and your excellent service .
The food was outstanding and a lovely presentation . We will be back many more times !
Poor service. Took over 2 hours to get meal. Very disappointed. Will bm ot go back
worst service and treatment ever at a dining establishment
kitchen was not able to produce meals at a timely fashion and management had no lue hoe to smooth the situation over never to return
The hostess was abrupt and a bit cold towards our guests, whom arrived before us. Our servers were kind, but difficult to find at times. We observed the staff frequently being treated like naughty children by upper management. It was hard to watch these adults being demeaned, when they are trying to figure out their jobs.
The crab cake appetizer was delicious, as well as was the butternut squash soup. Entrees were very small in portion size. Salmon piece was maybe 6oz. All the food came with a hefty price tag.
The finisher was a huge screaming argument between two male guest that didn't want to pay, and the chef. Thankfully, no fists were thrown.
All around, the energy is not great. It's an environment where the staff seems unhappy, most likely because of poor treatment. (Something, with years of working in the service industry, I am all too familiar with.)
All of this trickles down to the diner's experience. Unfortunately, we left Cafe Loret more stressed then we were hoping to.
Good ambiance, friendly service. But the food was just so so. I had butternut squash soup which was ordinary. My husband shared gnocchi with mushrooms with our friend. That was good. For entree I ordered Salmon. My husband the tian of crab. Our friend the fluke. They brought my order at the same time as my husband's tian of crab. I smelled a fishy whiff as they placed the dishes on the table. I wasn't sure which dish it came from but i didn't smell it again. My husband really liked the tian of crab. My dish was not bad but nothing to write home about. Our friend didn't comment on the fluke.
For dessert we all share the chocolate gateaux and the apple tart. They were ok.
We were excited to go, and taste the Food. When we got there, we entered a bare room, with a counter at the other end. Very "Cold" atmosphere to start with. We made a Open Table reservation, which they did not have on their Tablet. I showed them the confirmation for reservation on my phone. We got in. After being seated, we were greeted by a very nice young lady, whom brought us our Water and Bread. We brought wine, and she served it to us. We saw no one a good 20 minutes, until the young lady came back, to see how things were, and brought us some more bread. At that time, I asked her if she could be our Waitress, as no Waitress came to take our order. A few minutes later a Waitress came and asked us what we'd like to order. This is about 35-40 minutes in.... We ordered both our Apps and Entree's for fear we would not see her for quite a while. A short Note here: The young people whom were performing the busing and server tasks, were bright and attentive, and would have made good waiters/Waitresses. My Wife and I counted 1 actual Waitress, taking orders, and the Place kept getting more packed. Apps finally came out, my wife's Salad was good, as were my Gnocchi's... Back to the waiting again...by the time we got a entrees, our bottle wine was gone, and 3 servings of bread, which was awesome, as was the EVOO...
So the Food was very good, Atmosphere was Industrial/Art Deco Cafeteria with some decent paintings done by the Owner, as I understand it. The Service was horrible, with the exception of the young people whom could save this place, if given more tasks and responsibility... and they are starving for it. the young lady whom took care of my Wife and I was ecstatic when I gave her a tip. My take is, utilize the resources you have, and allow them to share tasks, such as wait table, clearing and set-up, and let them work as a Team.
Food was spectacular. Staff were amazing. A slight problem with an extraordinarily long wait between appetizers and main.
Awesome food and great service. Perfect place for a date night or foodie dinner. We met the chef as well, very nice guy.
Beautiful dining room , modern with an elegant vibe, wonderful selection of food from local sources. The menu had many additional specials. The staff was wonderful and when providing the specials we were also provided the price of those items not on the main menu....that is always appreciated and a sign of good value. Dinner took quite a while to arrive but it was excellent. We will definitely return.
First of all, the main course came out way after the salads. My halibut was very dry, almost like it was under the lights for too long, while the other meals cooked. The other meals were okay, the steak and the stew, but they were all over priced. I would not recommend.
What an incredible meal in Red Bank. Six different courses between the two of us and all were exceptional. We will be back! Thank you
Tried this restaurant for the fist time on New Year's eve and it was fantastic. It was a fixed menu but the food was absolutely fantastic, from the appetizer, main course and dessert. Highly reccomend.
My wife and I spent New Year's Eve at Cafe Loret, and were surprised and pleased by the quality of its food, its low-key but professional service, and especially its artistic decor. The chef obviously strives for excellence in his cuisine, and we were happy to hear of the restaurant's farm-to-table ethos. The wait staff were upbeat, charming and expert. This is a superb addition to Red Bank's restaurants and one to which we hope to return often.
Very Good New Year's Eve dinner ($75. each) with the best lamb shanks I have ever eaten. Dennis Foy has done it again, as we had eaten years ago at his restaurant in Pt. Pleasant Beach, and this is much better.
My third time to dine here, each and every time I throughly enjoyed from start to finish . Ingredients are fresh and uniquely prepared . Will be back in the New Year .
