Cafe Landwer - Beacon Street
Loved the food! The only problem was that we couldn't try everything on the menu in one seating, so we will need to come back again soon :)
Great good! Some of the best hummus I’ve had in Boston
Service is slow and confusing
Food was excellent and nicely served. Service was also excellent. Will definitely go back!
I like their pancakes! Fluffy and tasty. Their service and atmosphere were just good. I’m going to try to have another menu next time.
Best desserts ever!!! Their cookie butter rozalach has me coming back time and time again.
Great place to have a bite to eat with friends/family. Very diverse menu with options for people with dietary restrictions, great ambiance, and amazing value!
Great Mediterranean menu and food. The pita is incredible.
We sat outside and that was lovely. Good location. Spotty service and mediocre food.
Everything was awesome! Amazing service as always and the food is always great!!
A charming little cafe with plenty of plant-based (vegan) options but plenty for carnivores too. They were a little bit understaffed and the hosts seemed stressed, despite it not being terribly busy yet (lots of tables filled, but no wait). However, everyone was kind and accommodating.
I met a friend of mine here and our seating was cozy but gave us sufficient space. One of my pet peeves is cafes and restaurants that squeeze the tables so close together that you end up bumping into your neighbour as you cut your food! This was cozy, but only cozy ... no elbow contact here.
The atmosphere is pleasant. It reminds me a lot of the cool little cafes you'll find in millennial-heavy areas of London. Brightly-lit, plants, mirrors, and some vintage-inspired decor. The outdoor seating is limited but very nice. The noise level isn't too bad at all, especially considering that by the time we left it was early afternoon on a weekend and getting much busier.
One major disappointment for me was that the hemp/oat milk has been removed from the menu, but it's still listed there. This seems a little odd to me, since there are some really well-considered plant-based options as far as food goes. The exclusion here means that the only plant milks are soy and almond--the two worst options for vegans. Almond often burns and has that acrid taste, and soy is ... soy. Coconut, oat, rice, hemp, or pea milks would all be much appreciated. Oat is popular in cafes which are much less vegan-friendly, and the vast majority of places now at least have coconut milk.
My friend had the turkey bacon benedict and I had the vegan breakfast--both excellent. The vegan breakfast came in lots of little pots on a tray--very cute and very satisfying to have a small taste of everything! There was a lot of food. We both said how much we enjoyed it, and I will definitely want to return to try the vegan shakshuka as well as some of the lunch and dinner options.
This is a great place for breakfast! Haven't tried their lunch or dinner menu yet, but will do soon. Their famous breakfast is delicious. So are their coffees and the juices. Highly recommended!!
Great service, consistent, fantastic Israeli breakfast.
The food was amazing! They also have great vegan options for myself and regular items for my boyfriend. It was a lovely date night and we can't wait to go back!
The hostess was just making up rules on issue vs outside seating “since my open table reservation was under two hours” I couldn’t have an inside table since those were reserved for over two hours🙄. Four booths empty while we sat out in the heat. Food was pretty good, but service was bad.
We had a nice early dinner at Cafe Landwer on a quiet Saturday this summer. It was hot enough that we decided to eat inside, instead of on their nice patio, which we'll try another time. Loved the shakshuka and the pizza, also had a very nice green granita drink. Great service and great food, in a very attractive setting, can't wait to visit again!
We went to the Cafe Landwer in Toronto for breakfast back in May and we really enjoyed it. My family took me to this one in Boston for my birthday this week. The experience was amazing! The harissa fried Jerusalem artichokes with hummus and warm pita were a great appetizer for 4. We each got different meals and the food was fantastic!
The food was great and the hostess was kind and professional even when I saw some people without a reservation give her a hard time for the wait.
Everything came out in a timely manner and was great!
The only issue I had was the waitress asked us right as we sat down if we were ready to order our entire meal.
We had a lovely lovely lunch with unusual choices. The Shakshuka offered for breakfast was available for lunch. It was great.
We had the Landwer's Breakfast for Two - it was amazing! The food was delicious! We also had the mint lemonade granita - a must in the summer! Service was good, only exception was some chaos at the greeter's station - probably because the place was busy. Although we checked in with an OpenTable reservation, I got an e-mail later in the day from OpenTable claiming that we were a no-show. Despite this issue, we will definitely go back next time and bring friends with us so that they can experience Cafe Landwer.
Delicious, interesting dishes; great for vegetarians. Excellent service. Nice vibe.
A nice place, pretty well run kitchen, clean bright and welcoming front. So many staff. Visited a few Saturdays and it seems like there's more staff on the floor than diners. Maybe it gets a lot busier closer to lunchtime? I guess this is not a complaint, more an observation.
Nice Saturday am breakast. We arrived at 9am and it was easy to get seated (although we did have a reservation). By the time we were leaving there was a line. Friendly waitress. We each had a variety of shakshuka eggs plus a shared plate of their rosolach pastry. Will go back and try other times of day.
High quality meal and service. Very family friendly. Thank you for making it a special Father’s Day.
Great felafel and pita. Need mire wait staff.
Food was delicious!!! We got the shakshuka and the Landwer breakfast spread. It was amazing. However it took over an hour for our food to come which is frankly absurd. I have mixed feelings about this restaurant.
Homey atmosphere and great eclectic menu. Easy place to bring children.
We went there because of the pasta and when we got there (9pm), they took forever to get our orders and ended up saying they didn’t have any more dough... so no pasta, nor pizza for us! We guessed they said that because of the time... but if they take reservations at 9pm, they should offer a full menu!
Additionally, the server didn’t know the menu and couldn’t explain the difference between the options.
Absolutely a gem, so glad to have found Cafe Landwer. I’ll be coming back all the time!
Food was very good for a brunch. Waitress was very helpful with selecting from a varied menu and service was great! Not rushed at all so good for casual dining and talking. Would definitely go again!
I was at the Chestnut Hill location, not Beacon Street.
I ordered the eggplant appetizer that came with challah (there were 3 of us) and it came with 2 pieces- any good server would have noticed that and added another piece. I ordered a salad and the lettuce had no crunch to it, really dull and boring salad.
Excellent place for dinner and probably the best for coffee. Highly recommended!
However the music is superfluous given the business of the place. I have little tolerance for places where I cannot enjoy food and conversation with my company due to loud music.
Music in restaurants should be in the background not forefront. I hope you would consider that in the future.
The pasta was amazing! Such a fun menu. We loved playing scrabble before our food came.
Fun place with unique dishes not too far from Fenway Park. Would recommend! Board games were there too which was great for a large group.
When we arrived I told our server that we were in a little hurry because we were going to a play. He was great about that and served us extremely quickly. So for that I would have given him "excellent." However, after that, I had to continually ask him for different items. I asked for bread but then he didn't bring butter at the same time so then I had to ask for butter. I ordered poached eggs and then I realized that he had only given me a fork. So then I had to wait for him to appear and ask him for a spoon. There were a few other instances like this and my grandson asked me why I was asking him for so many things. I said because he hadn't brought me the proper things in the first place. So that was a little annoying.
I’ve eat here twice and the first time the food was much better. The servers don’t know the menu very well, they need to be more educated on the food and wine, but they were very nice. Very reasonably priced and good vegetarian and GF options.
An absolutely wonderful experience, hands down. Our waitress was amazing, the environment was fun and laid back, and the food was reasonably priced, delicious, and very filling. Would absolutely recommend.
Had to ask waitress for drinks four times. She forgot multiple things we had ordered.
Fantastic food and very kid friendly!
