Cafe La Haye
The menu is small, but specials make up for that. Menu items come as listed with no vegetables. The steak was just a piece of meat with sauce, so be prepared to order sides. The carpaccio was outstanding, and the chicken was cooked perfectly. Service was attentive but not intrusive, and we were seared promptly.
Always delicious and dependable.
I hadn't been back to Cafe La Haye in a number of years and was so happy to find it as exceptional as I remembered. The food and service were impecable and the wait staff and owner were very attentive. The owner picks the wines on the list and has a great knowledge of wine. Bonus is that most of them are harder to find and a fantastic value. A five start experience to be sure!
Everyone in our party of 4 was extremely happy with their meal! Delicious!
It was a wonderful delicious evening from start to finish! Highly recommend!
Delicious food and an attentive staff.
Cafe La Haye has become our favorite Sonoma restaurant. The food is always delicious and creative. The service is friendly and comfortable.
We ( 4 of us) had a delightful evening at Cafe La Haye. The service was charming and helpful. We had the salmon special, the chicken tangine, pasta with sausage the Beet and Orange salad and the special Arugula (and spinach?) apple salad. For dessert, we shared the butterscotch pudding and the chocolate cake with pecan crust. We devoured it all, took home the few bites leftover, and were sated and content! Looking forward to our next visit already.
We had another great meal at Cafe La Haye. We love the intimacy of this relatively small and well appointed space. Our server was friendly; informative about the specials and helpful with wine suggestions. Food, as we have come to expect, was very good. Highlights on this visit were the arugula salad, risotto with rock shrimp and a seasonal parsnip soup.
Very good food, service and customer attention as always.
We’ve been before and will go again! Small place with great food and excellent service.
Incredible food and great service. We need to go way more often!
Cafe La Haye is one of the best (if not the best) restaurant in downtown Sonoma. Owner/class act Saul oversees the cozy dining room . . . while Chef Jeffrey Lloyd, one time executive chef at Michael Mina and Aqua (San Francisco) works his magic with his team in the small open kitchen.
Something for everyone = Steak - Chicken - Pork - Fish - Pasta & Vegetarian . . . Cafe La Haye checks all the boxes . . . Great Food ✅ Great Wine List ($ to $$) with numerous options by the glass ✅ Great Desserts ✅ Great Service ✅ Great Stemware ✅ White Tablecloths ✅ Great Ambiance ✅
If that wasn't enough for ya, Cafe La Haye has been a perennial pick by food critic Michael Bauer of the San Francisco Chronicle (in his annual Top 100 Bay Area Restaurants list) and is one of his favorite restaurants in the Wine Country. So, reserve a table before it’s too late.
Note: if you can’t get in/reservations here . . . Harvest Moon (restaurant) is a phenomenal alternative in downtown Sonoma.
Highly regarded local neighborhood gem! Quiet, comfortable, great menu, great wine list, great waitstaff, and, run by a very proactive greeter/owner (Saul). This is a very special place to go for very special and intimate occasions. Highly recommend!
Another excellent experience at the best restaurant in Sonoma. Pumpkin Soup and Burrata appetizers were outstanding. The thick cut pork chop and buccatini pasta with meatballs for the mains were even better. And the Yuzu Citrus Cheesecake for dessert was the perfect finish. The portions are generous and priced very reasonably. The wine list is terrific and also priced very fairly. And the service was prompt, friendly and professional. La Haye is always worth a visit!
Always fabulous! Best in Sonoma
The foid was fantastic! Our filet steak was perfectly cooked rare & the risotto of the day (a mushroom w/ asiago cheese) was creamy and the added shrimp was perfectly cooked and flavorful. The staff was very friendly and fun. Well worth it's national ratings.
Far and away the best restaurant in Sonoma. The menu always incorporates the best seasonal choices, the service is professional yet welcoming, and the environment couldn't be more comfortable and casually chic. Exceptionally hospitable.
By far the best restaurant in Sonoma. Local ingredients, yield creative delicious food. Quiet enough that you can have a real conversation with your dining partner. Lovely ambiance. I eat there almost every time I am in Sonoma
The filet mignon was superb. Cooked perfectly with a delicious sauce. The risotto was good but a little bland. The pork chop was also well prepared and tasty
Friendly, good choice of specials, the pork chop was excellent as was the beet/orange salad. Prices are very reasonable and the quality was excellent.
Wonderful food, service and ambiance! Well beyond its Sonoma Plaza peers! Every course was excellent!
A favorite that never disappoints! The food is outstanding and the service is great! The menu changes making it always fun to go experience something new.
Don’t waste your money here if you’re foreign or look young. Sadly we are both. The host ignored us when we entered the place, proceeded to serve the guests (white) behind us, then asked ‘who’s next’ whilst addressing the white people stood in the queue behind us. We would have walked had it not been a late reservation on a Saturday. Thankfully he left us alone for most of the meal but had to add a patronising comment before we closed up, making out that this was some sort of once in a lifetime experience for us. Seriously, the food is fine (not wow but ok), but please spend your money elsewhere.
Couldn’t remember if I’d been here but walked in and realized yes a few years back. It was better than before. Nice simple menu, tight wine list and a friendly server. They even decanted a wine we brought in.
We shared the beet salad and risotto for the table. Both were terrific.
If they have risotto on the menu get it as a primo course. You won’t be disappointed.
Really delicious anniversary dinner! Very cozy and right off the square in Sonoma, they had a wonderful wine list to begin with. The Pinot I ordered was superb, and the sav Blanc my wife has was amazing. We ordered two specials, roast lamb and the shrimp and grits, and both were so good I’m still thinking about them. Definitely will be back, so good, very worth it.
This was our fourth trip to Cafe La Haye and it's still every bit as good as the first time. The food and service are second to none.
We live only a few blocks away and this is our special place to go. Very intimate. Food is always amazing and creative. Service is perfectly attentive but not intrusive. We highly recommend Cafe LaHaye.
This used to be our "special occasion" restaurant for many years, and we looked forward to returning after not visiting for quite a while. The food was delicious, and we enjoyed it very much. Service was lovely.
Our main complaint was the noise level. We couldn't hear each other talk, and it is a small restaurant. The floor is cement/tile, and the ceiling is open rafters. Most of the tables seat 2-4 people, and it wasn't that any one table was particularly loud. It's just bad acoustics. It's too bad, because the food is very good, but for a nice dinner, the atmosphere is not great.
Excellent food and service. Our 3rd visit, and all great!
Great personal service as well and delicious, "moan-able" food! Yummmm!
Excellent! Great soup, salad and two entrees. Would recommend and return next time.
The food was mediocre. My pork chop was over cooked and dry and the risotto was tasteless. The cheesecake was fantastic, though.
Another great meal enjoyed!
My wife and are visiting Sonoma once again and wanted to return to this restaurant; we had enjoyed an outstanding meal there several years ago.
My wife had fish which she said was wonderful. I ordered the pasta dish with meatballs. The pasta was fresh and the sauce and meatballs were superb.
This is just a great little spot off the main square of Main Street in Sonoma. It should be a must visit for dinner when staying in town or passing through.
Took the family the youngest 27, so you don't think its a family place, for dinner on a visit to Sonoma. The meal was very good as most everyone had something different. My only complaint was my, and my son's main dish, Ginger-Soy Glazed Pork Chop, chorizo butter, pickled vegetables. It was disappointing ion that is was overcooked and consequently a little tough. The sauce was fine and tasty. The special rib-eye and the Buccatini Pasta with meatballs wwere very good. I had the special soup, a mushroom-sherry, that was wonderful.
We had the pasta special and the filet. Both were superb. The waitress made a good wine suggestion, which went well with the meal. Great local find in the heart of Sonoma.
Impeccable service, lovely meal, perfectly seasoned.
We were celebrating friends 50th Anniversary. They atmosphere, food and attention to detail was perfect.
we had a great meal here. Reasonably priced, great food.
Preservation service wonderful. Great ambience, attentive staff, good food.
