The food was fabulous and so was the service. We will go back for sure.
Always my go-to special occasion favorite. Wonderful service, food and atmosphere.
Wonderfully prepared food with a lovely Sonoma ambiance. Many specials offered. Everything we chose was great....the crab cake, onion soup, petrale sole entree, wines, to dessert. Great selection of local wines. Personal & professional service. A long time Sonoma favorite!
Friendly, welcoming and informative for food and wine selection. We arrived early for our reservation but they were able to seat us after only a short wait.
Cafe La Haye is one of the best restaurants in downtown Sonoma - end of story - book it right now, as they will be booked solid.
Owner/class act Saul oversees the cozy dining room . . . while Chef Jeffrey Lloyd, one time executive chef at Michael Mina and Aqua . . . works his magic in the small open kitchen.
My wife and I are fortunate to eat out 4 to 5 days a week, throughout the Bay Area and enjoy food/dining experiences . . . and have high standards/expectations.
Cafe La Haye has a very nice wine list/selection . . . just some examples here are 11 wines by the glass from $10 to $16 . . . 6 half-bottles from $32 to $87 . . . a very nice bottle selection of reds & whites . . . 15+ whites from $38 to $155 . . . 20+ reds from $46 to $110 . . . including a hard to find Rafanelli Cab or Zin . . . then there is the 25 reserve bottles from a Shafer Hillside Select to an over-the-top Screaming Eagle or Romanee Conti La Tache . . . we'll occasionally bring our own bottle . . . their Corkage is $25.
One of my biggest food nightmares is a DRY pork chop :-(
The pork chop here is STELLAR and VERY moist, as it's marinated in buttermilk for 24 hours . . .
"Crusted Pork Chop" with ricotta dumplings, mustard cream, chorizo butter crust ($24) = Crazy Good.
One of my wife's favorite dishes is their FRESH Pasta . . .
"Fresh Tagliarini Pasta" with caggiano sausage, escarole, piquillo pepper, cippolini onion, lemon EVOO ($23) = Memorable.
Just some of their amazing SIDES: Potato Gruyère Gratin or Bloomsdate Spinach & Garlic ($8 each)
Great Desserts like the Chocolate Silk Cake with a pecan-fleur de sel crust ($10) = great to share . . . dark & dense, yet creamy . . . just right . . . and a great way to end your dining experience.
We were seated near the dish washing stations, which are looked in upon from the restaurant; too noisy and distracting for a 40th anniversary dinner.
Food and seasonings are always spot on, it’s evident that they have passion for the food they serve. Service is usually very capable. I did notice that service was different for my table and a celebrity table. Consistency would be appreciated. The pork chop and quail dinners were to be commended. I would not recommend the roasted chicken dinner, the other offerings are just SO delectable.
Food was great. Good wine selection
Great food and service
The quail special was one of the best meals I have had in a long time. Amazing and imaginative balance of flavor and texture. Perfectly cooked and beautifully presented.
