Very small and intimate with a very limited menu. Although they offered
several "specials" the menu was extremely limited.

I highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion. Especially, a special one. We celebrated my husbands birthday tonight with amazing food and wine. Most importantly, our service. Thank you Saul and staff for going above and beyond our expectations. As always delicious!

We love Café la Haye. It is a "foodie" restaurant that is also casual in ambience with art on the white walls, wonderful welcoming wait staff. We are greeted with smiles of not only recognition, but friendship.

Had heard very good things but was left disappointed. There is a very small menu (3/4 mains) and additional specials which I think is great but when you have sold out of one of your non special dishes and don't let the customer know until they are ordering I think this is poor form. The chicken I had was cooked well but there was nothing interesting flavour wise unfortunately. Just decent roast chicken.

Cafe La Haye is 1 of the top 3 restaurants in downtown Sonoma - without a doubt.

I love pork chops . . . but one of my biggest food nightmares is a DRY pork chop :-(
The pork chop here is STELLAR and VERY moist, as it's marinated in buttermilk for 24 hours . . .

Buttermilk Brined Pork Chop, shaved fennel & orange with a pistachio chorizo-honey butter crust ($20)

One of my wife's favorite dishes is their FRESH Pappardelle Pasta . . .

Fresh Pappardelle Pasta with Caggiano sausage, artichoke, Cipollini onion, olive, preserved Meyer lemon, Piquillo pepper & feta ($23)

Amazing SIDES: Caramelized Brussels Sprouts & Apple . . . or the Asparagus with Parmigiano Reggiano . . . or the Almond-Scallion Basmati Rice . . . all incredible, but our favorite . . . get ready . . . wait for it . . . here goes . . . the Smashed Creamer Potatoes with Chive & Sour Cream ($7 each)

Dessert for us that night (to share) was the Chocolate Silk Cake with pecan-fleur de sel crust ($9) . . . just right and a great way to end your experience.

A nice wine list . . . from a very good and hard to find Rafanelli . . . to an over-the-top Screaming Eagle !

or . . . the Corkage fee is $25.

Fantastic food, wine & service = book it now !

OK - OK . . . the other two fantastic restaurants in downtown Sonoma (if you can't get in here) are Harvest Moon . . . and . . . The girl & the fig . . . Enjoy !

Our dinner was very good. Or server was lovely, very helpful with diet restrictions. She made some excellent suggestions as food choices. Our busboy seemed pretty put out when we asked for more bread, but other than that the evening was great. A hot fudge gelato with chocolate dipped big cherries was the best!

I come to Sonoma from Philadelphia 2x per year on business (for the past 2 years) and always have dinner at Cafe La Haye. Esther is great with recomnedations and her service. The food is wonderful and Saul makes sure everything is perfect. This time my wife was with me and after all the Napa dinners and several in Sonoma, she agreed that this was her favorite by far. I have the excellent Pork Chop each time - I am not sure how they make it taste so good. My wife had the pasta with sausage, spinach, tomoatos, etc. As always, superb. Prices are nice and not overpriced like many restaurants around. Will be back later this week (Thursday night I think) with a colleague to enjoy one more time. Hopefully I'll be back again in 6 months.

Charming restaurant in appearance; however, the food did not live up to expectations.
Disappointing dinner. The bread normally served along with cocktails/wine was dry. The salmon requested to be served "medium" was fleshy raw. The grilled vegetable was black on the outside and unappetizing.
Couldn't wait to pay our bill and leave.

Arrived a little early. Took us right in. Very quaint and inviting. Small area near door for sit down. Table had a view of interior;great specials. Excellent small wine list. 4 cools. 3 wait staff one busser and greeter.
Dessert was awesome. Salmon and steak prepared and presented perfectly.

We were welcomed with smiles and a very competent staff. The menu appeals to a variety of tastes. It was hard to choose between menu items because they looked so good. The pan seared salmon was fantastic, as was the mushroom soup. They served my favorite bread (Meyer lemon rosemary), and desserts were lovely. I had the butterscotch pudding. I'm definitely coming back so I can try even more wonderful things! Keep up the great work!

Outstanding creative cuisine utilizing local farm to table ingredients, food preparation, and more overly service: wait staff that listen to customers, impart their knowledge and sincere appreciation for the food/wine served, and gently guide the customer to come to an informed decision. The balance of creative, deftly prepared food, complementive wine and pride in providing service in a warm, well informed, unpretentious manner was greatly welcomed. For us, La Haye has created an easily embraced addiction.

Lovely early evening meal while on holiday in Somoma. We took our 5 year-old son who had a wonderful chocolate dessert while my wife and I had the ribs, salmon and quail. All perfect. The service was lovely and the restaurant were great at accommodating our young son.

My reservation for Cafe LaHaye was at 7:00 on Friday. We were a little late, but there was no problem, we seated immediately.
A couple of days later I received a rather chastising email from OpenTable about not showing up for the reservation and not canceling it.
I don't know if there's a "3 times and your out" rule with OpenTable, but if there is, I don't want there to be a "no show" ding against me, because I WAS there!

Now, the restaurant, it's small and quaint with very starched white tablecloths. Our server was friendly, accommodating and attentive. My friend had the quail which he raved about. I had the fish, but because of a dietary condition, I have to eat very low sodium. NO saltless fish is ever that great.
I had few dishes to chose from because so many things had been brined or marinated. There was bacon in some dishes, ham in another and sausage in something else.
I know they did do their best to accommodate me, and I appreciated that.

Saul is a wonderful owner and host. The restaurant is accommodating and attention is paid to detail. We have been coming to Sonoma from Birmingham, AL at least twice a year since 2012. Cafe Le Haye was rated highly to us then by the local patrons and businesses. It has never let us down. We will return again!

Great little place just off the Sonoma square. Lots of locals must frequent this place since patrons knew staff and other patrons. Food was great -- our group had the pork chop and shrimp cake. We were intrigued by the 1961 espresso machine that sits center stage, and also delivers a great cappacino! Local wine list was unfamiliar to us, but our server made an excellent choice based on our likes. This is a gem in a crowded tourist market.

Disappointed. Food was just... good. No music. Too bright. Didn't enjoy ambience. Server was nice but had ALL the tables in the tiny restaurant. Runners were helping, but service was still lacking. $15 for a glass of house Chardonnay was way too much. Entrees were priced about 30% too high. We won't go back next visit. Oh.. the chocolate silk pie for dessert was quite delicious. We may get that to go next trip.
