Cafe La Haye
The food was fresh and very good. I had looked at the menu prior to dining here and knew for the most part what to expect. The specials were great. We really enjoyed it.
Too bright in restaurant for dinner
Every course was superb. The owner checked in with us to be sure everything was to our liking. Service was impeccable. The flavors were spot on. We highly recommend Cafe la Haye!
Outstanding food and wine. Very attentive service. One of the best dining out experiences this year.
We have been coming here for over 20 years.
It remains consistently good. The smaller menu means everything is fresh daily and preparation is excellent. Lovely ambience and great location just off the plaza.
Cafe La Haye is a small, quaint restaurant just off the square in Sonoma. Both the food and service were outstanding. Get your reservations well in advance. You don’t want to miss this restaurant when visiting Sonoma.
Good was very good.
Lovely evening. Saul and his crew were gracious and efficient. A memorable evening celebrating our 50th anniversary.
We were recommended this restaurant by a waiter in the Sonoma area. The food was excellent. I had the Risotto which was awesome and extremely fresh. My husband had the pork chop which he said was one of the best he has ever had! We had great wine also from a local winery that we had visited the day before. The experience was wonderful and I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Always great. Good service and an owner who cares. Excellent wine selection.
Our group was very excited to try Cafe La Haye as we had heard about it for years. Unfortunately, our experience was not what we had hoped for. The food was good, not exceptional and the service was good, however, we were disappointed in the attitude of the owner. We are very accustomed to corkage fees in Sonoma and Napa and we usually bring a bottle for dinner and we buy a bottle of equal cost. Cafe La Haye states the corkage fee is at the discretion of the owner. We requested the corkage fee on our bottle be waived as we had brought a bottle and bought a bottle. Our server said she would ask the owner. The server nor the owner ever responded to our request and we were charged the full $25.00. This would have been acceptable however we would have liked an answer to our question. We also observed the owner stopping by each table to check on the meal, he avoided our table. There are so many excellent restaurants in Sonoma that provide wonderful meals and an accommodating environment, our group will not be returning to Cafe La Haye.
As a long time customer to Café La Haye, the food was delicious and the menu variety quite acceptable for any taste. I highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion when you're in the Napa-Sonoma area.
Always our go to. Never short of terrific. Order the butterscotch pudding after what will be a superb meal.
This lived up to the title of best restaurant in town amongst strong competition.
Food was edible, for the price, I’ve had much better. Service was not great. Asked for bread, twice. Got the bread, no bread plates. Won’t be back- too many great places to eat in Sonoma.
Wonderful Food, Service, and Experience... Cafe La Haye never disappoints!!
Fantastic service & great personal
Beautiful, intimate space with friendly, welcoming service. Everything we ordered was delicious and memorable - from the creamy shrimp soup of the day to the chocolate silk cake with a walnut crust and perfect whipped cream. We will definitely be back!
Owner is gracious and thoughtful. A varied menu and extensive wine list.
For such a small restaurant they produce amazing food in a comfortable atmosphere with attentive service. I had the carpaccio with fried oysters and arugula salad, which I could have made a meal of. The beef was so fresh, tender and tasty and the oysters crunchy and silky at the same time. For the main course I had the flounder with cabbage and smashed potatoes. That also was delicious and I had to struggle not to eat every bite, so as to save room for dessert. I had the apple crumble that was delicious. The only drawback was that the apple chunks were so large it was hard to eat them.
Excellent food and service ... and not pretentious... just simply excellent restaurant
Have never had a bad meal here. You cannot go wrong no matter what you order.
Beautiful food served in a quaint setting just off the Plaza
My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful meal! The salmon was cooked perfectly and he definitely found his favorite mashed potatoes here.
We love Cafe La Haye. The service is always excellent and the food imaginative and delicious. If they have the mushroom soup as a special when you go, be sure to have it. It is over the top wonderful.
Food was good but service was not. Once we ordered our food we never saw our server until our meal was finished and we flagged her down to ask for more water and our check.
Always great food, service, and wine. Always welcoming. Great small elegant intimate place to dine. Both new salads on menu wonderful. Great team
For the small establishment it is, tables are too close to one another. We found the roasted chicken and mushroom ravioli were too salty
Good, but not our best dinner at Cafe la Haye. Service was very good and the owner is delightful. We were seated next to the open front door, which was chilly. They did close it upon our request. Appetizers were great - little gem salad was a perfect size, crisp and delicious. The tombo tuna was fantastic! Entrees were not so great. The petrale sole was overcooked and rather tough; I didn’t hear any accolades from our dinner partners about the chicken or steak. At dessert time, I was was disappointed - I had noted on the reservation that we we’re celebrating a birthday, but there was nothing done.
I will come back, but maybe not rush back.
Great experience dinning at a small restaurant. Service was great.
High quality meal with good service and interesting menu. Would definitely go back or recommend to friends. Small venue, so more intimate setting.
Always wonderful...food, service, atmosphere, hospitality. Can't go wrong.
Vacation in wine country
It was a hybrid occasion because it was a group of work friends who were celebrating one of the diner’s 30th Birthday. The host was very nice and welcoming. I kind of felt our server was a little annoyed with us for no reason I could determine. The food was very good, not great, but very good. I have to say I was expecting to be blown away. It won’t keep me from going back, but it wasn’t the “outstanding” I was expecting. The wines were very good, the Bellinis were syrupy. Finally, I may have had unrealistic expectations, but I did expect more acknowledgment of the birthday, more than the “thanks for coming and happy birthday” as we left. Since we’re re from the Bay Area and not tourists, we will all be back in Sonoma again and again, and I may try some other places before going back there.
Always the best way to celebrate in Sonoma!
Excellent gem tucked away in Sonoma. Not a tourist destination. Wine list had several selections from small proprietors who don't widely distribute their wines. The pork chop, pappardelle, tuna app were big hits.
Always such well prepared and tasty food! The service is top notch and the staff so friendly. Always enjoy the specials and the pace of the meal is perfect!
We celebrated our anniversary while on our Sonoma trip with a dinner here. Everything was excellent, food, service and ambiance. I NEVER get dessert and made an exception here. Well worth it! A memorable dinner!! We hope to come back!
Absolutely fabulous 🥂Best ever .It was a wonderful💕
Cafe La Haye continues to delight. The service was impeccable without being obtrusive. The vibe is relaxed, but the total experience is five stars. Now, on to the food! We each had the salad special: The Arugula base was not bitter - perfectly fresh - topped with slices of figs and pears with a generous dose of goat cheese crumbles. Simply delicious. I had fresh salmon - it was seared to perfection and served over a bed of couscous with haricot verts. Words cannot describe how perfect this was. My companion had the risotto, which was a delightful mix of late summer eggplant, tomatoes, and fresh Oregon bay shrimp. The portions are large and very reasonably priced, especially given the quality of ingredients. The wine selection is varied without being overwhelming. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Cafe La Haye to a friend.
