The food - the vino - the service was outstanding!

The nicest dining in Sonoma - intimate setting and exceptional evening.

This place had been on my list for a long time and I was disappointed. It felt like a parody of itself as a fine dining restaurant. High prices, pretense, small portions, bad art, the whole scene. All would have been forgivable had the food been memorable.

Went for early mother's day dinner with another couple. Service was great. Food was fabulous. Menu was small but perfectly varied. Wasn't inexpensive but was a good value. We enjoyed everything.

We have been coming to Cafe La Haye for many years and enjoy the delicious, creative food every time. The service is top notch and the proprietor is always genial. The menu is small but the specials always fill in. We enjoyed a fabulous special salad and the special quail was outstanding. Desserts are to die for. I always recommend this restaurant as it is one of our favorites for special occasions and sometimes not. Highly recommended!

Wasn't blown away with this quaint little restaurant off the square in Sonoma. Really limited menu, perhaps 4-5 entree options, same with starters. We shared some starters which were delish, but plated a bit messy (as if in a rush). Our server was a bit robotic, as if she did NOT want to be there. Soon, we felt the same way and left after our starters.

On a side note, we had brought a 2013 Spottswoode to enjoy (our anniversary wine), but was told we could not drink it because they had it on their wine list as well. I get it, but really? Our anniversary celebration hindered because you had it on your list? Tried to explain to her the "why" of our bottle, but to no avail. Charge us double corkage if you want, but never say no to a customer. Very cold reception from our waitress.

Cafe La Haye is one of the best (if not the best) restaurant in downtown Sonoma. Owner/class act Saul oversees the cozy dining room . . . while Chef Jeffrey Lloyd, one time executive chef at Michael Mina and Aqua (San Francisco) works his magic with his team in the small open kitchen . . . something for everyone = Steak - Chicken - Pork - Fish - Pasta & Vegetarian . . . Cafe La Haye checks all the boxes . . . Great Food ✅ Great Wine List ($ to $$$) ✅ Numerous Options by the Glass ✅ Great Desserts ✅ Great Service ✅ Great Stemware ✅ White Tablecloths ✅ Great Ambiance ✅

. . . if that wasn't enough for ya, Cafe La Haye has been a perennial pick by food critic Michael Bauer of the San Francisco Chronicle (in his annual Top 100 Bay Area Restaurants list year after year) as one of his favorite restaurants in the Wine Country.

Side Note: Make sure (before or after your Cafe La Haye experience) to visit "Sigh" just down the street . . . a fun & chic Sparkling Wine/Champagne tasting room (open late) . . . you'll be glad you did (wink).

The food at Cafe La Haye is always delicious. Everyone at our table (four of us) got something different - salmon, chicken, risotto & pork chops - & each of us thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Yum.

We visited on a Tuesday night for our Anniversary. We were welcomed pleasantly and seated in a nice corner table for privacy. They accommodated my request, which does not always happen with Open Table reservations. I appreciated that Cafe La Haye cared. The menu is small but each dish carefully designed and prepared. We started with delicious grilled scallops, frisée salad, carpaccio and then the salmon, all excellent. We will definitely return.

The. Fennel was a bit over marinated on the beet salad. Lacking fresh crunch and super vinegary tasting. The potatoes au gratin were over cooked so crunchy dry crust on the top and dry throughout. The filet was good but overpriced. The risotto with rock shrimp was fine. Missing something on the flavour. The butterscotch pudding needs to be removed from the menu. That is sure to disappoint 90% of your guests. Overpriced for the experience. I’m not sure how long it has been since Michelin stopped by there to try the food.

This was our 2nd time visiting this restaurant and it was so delicious we wanted to come back every night during our stay in Sonoma. The meals are creative without being fussy, use the freshest of local ingredients, come exactly as requested (if a change was made), priced well for the high quality of ingredients used, they have a wonderful selection of local wines that are well priced, the interior is nicely decorated and well lit, the staff is attentive without being pushy...what more can I say, it was perfect!

The quality and cuisine was excellent. It was disappointing to seeing the restraunt achieve the Michelin Award and take their pictures a few minutes before they open, but their personalized service was lacking. I had a menu for five to ten minutes with my two year old son next to me playing with the menu. Being the terrible twos, he was upset I took the menu away. I thought it might be a way to calm him down is to continue to look at the menu. The manager was like, I can't let you have a menu. It is like, you are making huge amount of money from your cuisine and prices, why are you stressing about risking pieces of paper getting messed up, versus making sure the experience is pleasant for his other guests by pacifying the baby. Quite surprising for achieving such an award.

The venue is small and tight. Unfortunately we had a party of loud attorneys next to us. They were so loud the wait staff misheard our orders. When we clarified the order the wait staff refused to correct the errors. After listening to the virtues of Michael Avenati for 45 minutes and the discounts for Maseratis we took our meals home and ate them cold.

Cafe La Haye was recommended by hotel staff in Sonoma. We were so happy we took the recommendation! The service was impeccable, some of the best I’ve had in a long time. The food was delicious as well. The ambience is modern, quiet, and peaceful. I highly recommend this place for dinner!

Great meal in a lovely environment with fabulous service! We were only in Sonoma for one night and wanted to try somewhere we hadn't been before and this was a lovely choice! I had the orange, beet and fennel salad (large enough to share) and the homemade pasta with mushrooms, spinach and sausage (my husband enjoyed a lot of it as it was a large portion that I could not finish). We would highly recommend Cafe La Haye.

This is a small, quaint restaurant just off the square. We were looking forward to a nice dining experience. One of my friends ordered 3 things that the restaurant ran out of...risotto with shrimp, Coke, and bread pudding. Very disappointing. One of us ordered salmon which was served very rare and was not great to eat. The chicken and desserts were very tasty. All and all, the restaurant did not meet our expectations.
