Cafe La Haye
Convivial owner Saul Gropman and chef Jeffrey Lloyd make a formidable team. Lloyd, former executive chef of restaurant Michael Mina, offers a seasonal menu that’s discreet in its complexity, featuring the sort of dishes that seem to get better with each bite.
Gropman’s wine list comprises a modest 100 bottles, but it’s a smart, well-focused selection -
chef's daily preparation
Duroc Heritage Pork Chop
warm bacon glaze, cumin lentil coulis, white bean, lentil, piquillo pepper, braised cabbage
fried oyster, garlic aïoli, arugula, aged balsamic, shaved reggiano
Starters were not inspiring. Shrimp Cake just OK. Gem salad was bland with limited ingredients. Quail special had good flavors but was overcooked and dry. Pork Chop had too much cumin and combined with the lentils had intense flavor that over shadowed any flavor from the meat or jus.
Server and assistant were attentive and personable.
This place is a gem and among the finest restaurants in all of Sonoma County. I'm a local in Sonoma and I had been wanting to finally try it. It far exceeded even my already high expectations. Every dish was exquisite.
Quiet, understated elegance, impeccable menu and food. That perfect blend of European style and California cuisine.
My new favorite spot.
Cafe La Haye never disappoints. Consistently outstanding and delicious. The Shining Gem in Sonoma!!
Every year for my wife’s birthday we bring her here to celebrate, it’s such a special place, can’t recommend it more
The food and service was great . The steak and fish were great .
Incredible food. Efficient but not rushed service. Would highly recommend for a nice meal
Food was absolutely outstanding and wait staff was incredibly friendly.
We had an utterly amazing dining experience at Café La Haye. We happened to book the dinner when it was not busy, so we felt safe. And everything we ordered was perfection. Such a quaint and quiet gem of a restaurant.
Love it! Second time there for us. We went for our anniversary and then went back for one of our weekly date nights. The food is fantastic and the ambiance is ideal.
Lovely prepared food as usual. it is a special place to dine.
Consistently excellent food, service, atmosphere. Best dinner out in Sonoma.
The food was nothing special and overpriced for what it was. The service was very lackluster. Would not recommend or return.
Even though we're local Sonomans, it has been several years since we last dined at La Haye. After our recent dinner there, the next visit will be much sooner. The ambiance is that of an intimated multi-level cafe with lots of white and original artwork. But it's the cuisine that steals the show. And the staff's professionalism and deft service only adds to the experience. My wife had the king crab leg as an appetizer along with a local slaw that was terrific. Then she had a king salmon with fish sauce and mussels-divine. I had the celery soup which was creamy and delicate. Then I had the risotto of the day that was superb. We shouldn't have but did share the chocolate silk cake. All in all, it was an impressive culinary experience that we highly recommend.
Wonderful place for an intimate, delicious meal. The carpaccio was the perfect start and was enough for 2. The risotto was creamy with earthy porcinis, also a substantial portion. Overall a lovely dining experience.
I would have licked my plate if I thought I could get away with it.
Wonderful service and cuisine!
My wife's filet was cooked perfectly and my Mahi-Mahi over coconut rice/sauce was incredible! I used another two pieces of bread for the remaining sauce!
Service impeccable and the busser was top-notch and never intrusive!
Very good food with moderate prices. Very comfortable atmosphere and not stuffy for having a Michelin star. Would highly recommend if in Sonoma.
Birthday dinner for a friend
Excellent service and delicious entrees, we will definitely return.
Perfect meal with impeccable service. Everyone working there is so kind and accommodating.
Delicious food. Wonderful service
Lovely location, the inside quite charming.
The food very delicious . The chocolate
silk cake was incredible.
We will certainly eat here again
We’re fussy about food and with high expectations. Cafe la Haye delivered - and went beyond. It’s a short menu, but packed with creativity! There are more ingredients here than most restaurants would have with bigger menus. Cozy and friendly ambiance, where you can see the Chef creating/cooking from just about any table. Will come back for sure.
Wonderful experience! Service, food quality just stellar! Thank you Chef!
Another excellent dinner at Cafe La Haye. A must when in Sonoma.
Excellent food and service client .
Pleasant, soothing ambience.
Have been going here every trip we make to Sonoma. Great food and service every time!
My husband’s mahi-mahi was fabulous. My risotto w shrimp was way too rich. It was a special, so I did not know it had cream. It was so rich, I only ate a third of it and went home w/a belly ache. The dish would have been fine w/out the cream-spinach, shrimp and fennel-in my opinion.
But we will be back again as soon as we can get another reservation.
Love Cafe La Haye!
Could not have been more perfect. Excellent service, excellent food, everything was beyond wonderful.
Anniversary. Food was good and atmosphere always good. Sal is wonderful.
We have always loved Cafe La Haye. Our dining experience was lovely. Everyone enjoyed their meal. A very special place with excellent servers and delicious food.
Amazing dining experience!! Food was fantastic and service was great as well! Good wine list too!!
Best salmon I’ve ever had
Our dining experience was nice. The food was good, not fantastic. With all the reviews online we were expecting an exceptional experience. We are from Seattle and would rate this restaurant just okay.
Well worth the visit. Great food, service and value.
Alway a treat to have such great service and food. Made us feel a little back to normal getting to dine inside. Filet melted in my mouth and the almond cake and ice cream finished it off. Nice selection of wines by the glass. Thank you
We heard a lot about this restaurant and it lived up to its reputation. The food, service, and ambiance was perfect.
Everything was perfect; the food was cooked perfectly, the service was excellent and the ambiance tied everything together. The mushroom soup was a delicious way to start off the meal. This place is a wonderful neighborhood gem and never disappoints.
Very cozy , beautiful cafe .And amazing food!
As always, great food and excellent service
