Cafe La Haye
Everything was perfect and the food was to die for.
Great meal in a comfortable room. Had the fish and it was lovely.
Wonderful engagement celebration
Always outstanding, and wine list is thoughtful and fairly priced.
This restaurant was extraordinary on every level. We enjoyed one of the most memorable meals we've had anywhere from the Beef Carpaccio garnished with Fried Oysters to the generous, perfectly Grilled Loin of Lamb to the dense Chocolate Mousse Cake. Simply remarkable food, service, and atmosphere and the portions are not 'minimalist'. Menu items are more than reasonably priced considering the care, quality and ample portions of each course. The dinner was the highlight of our visit to Sonoma.
Everything was outstanding! From the food to the service, we truly enjoyed our first dining experience. We will definitely be back again. (Bonus- the desserts, port and coffee- were a phenomenal ending to a delicious meal).
We had a great experience from beginning to end. The food was as excellent as we were told by others it would be. But we were pleasantly surprised by the lovely, quiet atmosphere and the incredibly attentive and caring server and assistants. And the manager even stopped by to say hello. It was not cheap, but it was totally worth it and we look forward to going again.
This restaurant is excellent. The food, wine selection and friendly, helpful and professional staff are fabulous. The Michelin quality of this restaurant is well deserved. The restaurant is great value for the quality of the experience.
Perfect in every way. Outstanding quality, preparation, presentation and service in a relaxing and elegant setting.
Always a delightful experience.
This lovely restaurant just off the central square in downtown Sonoma is one of a kind. Beautiful architecture and delicious food it has become my favorite restaurant in Sonoma!
Cafe La Haye is one of the best (if not the best) restaurant in downtown Sonoma, just off the Plaza. Owner/class act Saul oversees the cozy dining room . . . while Chef Jeffrey Lloyd, one time executive chef at Michael Mina and Aqua (San Francisco) works his magic with his team in the small open kitchen . . . something for everyone = Steak - Chicken - Pork - Fish - Pasta & Vegetarian . . . Cafe La Haye checks all the boxes . . . Great Food ✅ Great Wine List ($ to $$$) ✅ Numerous Options by the Glass ✅ Great Desserts ✅ Great Service ✅ Great Stemware ✅ White Tablecloths ✅ Great Ambiance ✅
. . . if that wasn't enough for ya, Cafe La Haye has been a perennial pick by food critic Michael Bauer of the San Francisco Chronicle (in his annual Top 100 Bay Area Restaurants list year after year) as one of his favorite restaurants in the Wine Country.
Side Note: Make sure (before or after your Cafe La Haye experience) to visit "Sigh" just down the street . . . a fun & chic Sparkling Wine/Champagne tasting room (open late) . . . you'll be glad you did (wink).
Wonderful food, well prepared with polite and prompt service - the only drawback was one group of drunk local men (50s-60s, wives had divorced them?) who seemed to be under the impression that being regulars granted them the right to be loud and make sexist comments to the female staff.
My absolute favorite restaurant in Sonoma! I’ve been coming here for years. The entire staff makes you feel welcome, without being overly fussy. The food is consistently delicious and varied, small menu, excellent wine selection.
We love Cafe La Haye - it is always excellent food and wonderful service. My favorite restaurant in town.
Great food and personable, efficient staff. Would definitely eat there again.
We love coming here as ther serve my most favorite Savignon Blanc (Rochioli) and you can't find it at other restaurants. My husband had a vegan pepper soup. He loved it. We shared a salad of ice berg and maple bacon with utter milk dressing(also delicious). We chose the BBQ chicken for entire and it was very dissaponting. It obviously was not bbq'd but roasted in oven, served with potato salad and an ear of corn. We should have known better...but in the moment of a warm night and eating kind of late for us. We will definitely go back but will skip this dish if they serve it again. I usually go for their fish which is always spectacular!
Service was great
Really liked the wine list
Food pairing was immaculate
Café La Haye was fabulous as always! Service was outstanding.
Very nice place, great food! The owner was awesome
An amazing restaurant with exploratory staff and incredible food. The quail is a special, but if you are lucky enough to be there, it's really fantastic. The silk cake for dessert is an absolute must! Thank you for taking great care of us yet again.
Fabulous. Absolutely fabulous. Really great food in a lovely space.
I took a friend here for her birthday dinner. It’s a small space but we felt cozy, not crowded. Starter salad and petrale sole entrees were very tasty, and service was pleasantly attentive. Only downside: an extremely noisy table of 6 or so right next to us, which made having a conversation nearly impossible. These people were so inconsiderate, blasting their voices into the intimate space and overpowering all others. The staff may have asked them to tone it down at some point (I couldn’t see), but they ramped the volume right back up, dominating the restaurant’s ambiance and making other patrons uncomfortable and annoyed. It could and should have been a lovely dining experience, but was sadly diminished by these obnoxious boors.
Really hard to beat this sweet little restaurant - excellent food, kind and attentive staff. Loved it.
A great restaurant, excellent food and a nice laid back vibe.
Excellent main dishes. The dessert, a berry crisp, could have used more black, blue and raspberries: the dish was mainly halved strawberries which was over powering. Squished warm chunky strawberries were not very appetizing. Most of the dessert was left uneaten. Very disappointed with the wine, which was 2017 Rutherford Savignon Blanc. It was not dry but instead, heavy and somewhat sweet. My husband and I consumed a third of the small glass tasting the very wrong flavors. The waitress said it should be dry. She checked with someone and they said the same thing and offered to refund the cost of 2/3s of the glass. No one asked if I wanted a substitution. I was interested in having a nice glass of dry wine, not a stingy refund. Waitress never did asked about the uneaten dessert. My husband however, loved the ginger pineapple pork chop and I enjoyed the pasta. I hope at somepoint in the future there will be more choice for vegetarians. There is very little protein in a pasta dish. I'm sure a clever chef could create a better selection.
Very welcoming, wonderful chef and smaller venue. Highly recommend for a lovely evening out.
Haven’t been in a couple of years, still top notch, great food and wonderful ambiance.
Chef knows how to prepare King salmon for a queen! And Saul runs his restaurant like a mayor, ensuring that all of his guests receive service and attention that will bring them back. Lovely evening once again.
Always great food and wine. Ester and the bus boy (not sure of his name) are exceptional and Saul never makes a bad call on the wine to match our dinner choices. We would eat here all the time, but have to try the other great Sonoma spots!
Had a bit of a drive from Petaluma CA to get there. Nice, quiet place with excellent food and good service. Not a big hit for us because it is further to go that we would usually go. Seemed a bit expensive for what we got (full scale dinner, salads, coffee, deserts . . .) However we don’t go out frequently. (Gift cad from my sister.) Recommended for tourists and such who are already in the town of Sonoma. No report on wine list.
The experience was outstanding on all fronts.
First and foremost the food was excellent. Our waitress was patient with all our questions and helped my wife find something gluten fee.
A wonderful evening of food and ambiance.
A must place to eat if you are in Sonoma.
Food was very good
Host was super gracious
I highly suggest
Please note many tables of 2 are very close together so if you want A quiet Romantic dinner let them know when you reserve
Always excellent, creative menu, friendly atmosphere that still rises to be an “occasion”.
The food - the vino - the service was outstanding!
The nicest dining in Sonoma - intimate setting and exceptional evening.
This place had been on my list for a long time and I was disappointed. It felt like a parody of itself as a fine dining restaurant. High prices, pretense, small portions, bad art, the whole scene. All would have been forgivable had the food been memorable.
Went for early mother's day dinner with another couple. Service was great. Food was fabulous. Menu was small but perfectly varied. Wasn't inexpensive but was a good value. We enjoyed everything.
We have been coming to Cafe La Haye for many years and enjoy the delicious, creative food every time. The service is top notch and the proprietor is always genial. The menu is small but the specials always fill in. We enjoyed a fabulous special salad and the special quail was outstanding. Desserts are to die for. I always recommend this restaurant as it is one of our favorites for special occasions and sometimes not. Highly recommended!
Our go to place for special occasions in Sonoma! Consistently excellent food and service.
Not the best meal we’ve had here but overall good food slightly over priced. Wines are a good value for the area
