Managed to get us seated a bit earlier than reservation upon request. Friendly, charming staff and very good , interesting food. Seasonal and emphasis on solid ingredients. The venue is smart yet casual and a nice vibe. Highly recommended.

Cafe La Haye is one of the best (if not the best) restaurant(s) in downtown Sonoma - end of story. Owner/class act Saul oversees the cozy dining room . . . while Chef Jeffrey Lloyd, one time executive chef at Michael Mina and Aqua (San Francisco) works his magic with his team in the small open kitchen . . . .

This was a fabulous celebratory anniversary dinner.great ambiance , very attentive but mellow service, small local establishment that was absolutely delicious. We shared the beet salad and crab cake.. then my husband had the pork chop and I had the swordfish. I ALWAYS hesitate to order fish pot because it’s consistently over cooked but the swordfish came out perfectly.. hot and tender with a delicious sauce. We loved this restaurant and will be back!

My two friends and I enjoyed a delicious meal at Cafe La Haye on a rainy April evening. The pork chop and the steak were among the best we have ever had, and the shrimp appetizer with chorizo polenta was fantastic. Very friendly and relaxed place for a great meal with friends on a stormy night.

My wife and I are fortunate to eat out 4 to 5 days a week, throughout the Bay Area and enjoy food/dining experiences . . . and have high standards/expectations.

The marinated Filet Mignon, roasted shallot-balsamic jus anchovy butter, braised lacinato kale ($39) done medium rare was absolutely perfect. The pork chop here is STELLAR and VERY moist, as it's marinated in buttermilk for 24 hours . . . "Crusted Pork Chop" with ricotta dumplings, mustard cream, chorizo butter crust ($24) = Crazy Good. One of my wife's favorite dishes is their FRESH Pasta . . . "Fresh Tagliarini Pasta" with caggiano sausage, escarole, piquillo pepper, cippolini onion, lemon EVOO ($23) = Memorable . . . or the Roasted Chicken, onion-soy jus, broccoli & carrot ($20) just like in Paris ! - Just some of their amazing SIDES: Potato Gruyère Gratin or Bloomsdate Spinach & Garlic ($8 each).

Great Desserts like the Chocolate Silk Cake with a pecan-fleur de sel crust ($10) = great to share . . . dark & dense, yet creamy . . . just right . . . and a great way to end your dining experience. Great service provided by all . . . they know their product . . . and there's always 3 or 4 specials (trust me it's all special !) that they'll go over with you in detail. Side

Note: Cafe La Haye has a very nice wine list/selection . . . just some examples here are 11 wines by the glass from $10 to $16 . . . 6 half-bottles from $32 to $87 . . . a very nice bottle selection of reds & whites . . . 15+ whites from $38 to $155 . . . 20+ reds from $46 to $110 . . . and then there is the 25 reserve bottles ($$) . . . their Corkage is $25.

We have been to La Haye on multiple occasions and just love the food, service and ambiance. This evening, we invited friends to join us and upon sitting down, our friends immediately felt at home in the restaurant. In the end, we hit a home run!!

There are always a few specials on the menu, which are delicious and the regular menu has a number of items to chose from as well including, pasta, fish and meat. We will definitely be back!

My husband and I treated ourselves to a lovely ride to Sonoma to try this new restaurant that had great reviews and was part of the Sonoma Restaurant week. It is a small, intimate restaurant with a limited but complete menu. Our appetizer of Burata Cheese was spectacular, followed by their Butter Lettuce Salad that was perfectly prepared with a delightful dressing. The star of the evening were our Filet Mignons. Cooked absolutely perfectly medium rare. You could cut them with a fork. The sides, although not really necessary were part of the special meal, a wonderful potato and cheese baked in a small dish and fresh crispy asparagus. I had a great Pinot Noir and my husband enjoyed a nice cabernet. Overall the restaurant was 5 stars and we will return on another "special evening."

My husband wanted to try this place in advance of a big birthday so we ate on the Restaurant Week Menu. He loved the mushroom soup, entree was okay and dessert was amazing. I'm sure it had lots of calories. With a glass of wine each, the bill was still north of $100 for two. Plan for an expensive evening out.

They were very accommodating with our seating request and actually had read what we
wanted. Melissa was an exceptional server and the owner very attentive and cordial, plus
he makes a "mean cappacino"! All in all, a lovely evening and great food. The mushroom
soup to die for and the Filet and chicken, both winners. We love this resturant.

Cafe LaHaye has been one of our favorite restaurants for many years. A small space that can become crowded and noisy at peak dinner hours, particularly if large-sized dining groups are in full throat. The menu offerings are limited (California-Italian) but are sure to please all tastes. The wine list is extensive, but one may bring his/her own special wine and pay the $25 corkage fee. The serving staff is small but very efficient and helpful.

Amazing food. Restaurant very small with two seatings per night apparently. I didn’t understand this when I made my reservations but was OK

I had the best risoto in my life. We had six of us and all food was outstanding. Fresh and very flavorful. This would be my number one stop next time in town.

Some friends had a wonderful time here on Valentine's Day. Our group of five could only think it was because it was as "special event". One one person of the five had an entree that they felt was ok and that was the filet. The short ribs without the bone was like "processed" beef with a weird fatty texture rather than the lovely beef one expects. But the so called pork ragout with homemade pappardelle noodles was the biggest miss. Instead of a delicious gravy cooked for hours with tender shredded pork, there were big long strips of tough meat sitting in just under a half inch of oil--yes plain oil which had some small amount of spinach in it. The noodles were homemade and impossibly thick. Having been to Italy more times than I have fingers I can assure you that these noodles are not meant to be like this. The service was fair at best and there was only one cup of coffee and little water. There were only four tables filled so it was not busy. Overall a big, big disappoint and having guest from Fresno and Napa who are used to dining all over the world, we had hoped for a much better dining experience. Instead it was a conversation initiated by our guests about how terrible the food and service were.

I marked our visit as "everyday dining" because we could dine there every single day! We are several times a year quests ever since we moved to Sonoma County. This is place is perfect each time we come. Food is consistently amazing, well trained professional staff and extremely kind owner at your service. Leave the kids at home and forget large parties. This is a small gem just of the Plaza. By far the best restaurant in Sonoma and Napa combined. Need to ad a "PERFECTION" box to the survey.
Please don't tell anyone we want to keep our table open.

Cafe La Haye can be relied on to provide a very good meal at a reasonable price. I don't know of any other restaurant in Sonoma that I can say that about.

On my last visit, my brother and I shared a beet salad. The roasted beets with frisee were lightly dressed and delicious. I ate mine with a piece of buttered bread and it was a perfect beginning. The quail had been boned at the restaurant, and it was quite large. It had bread stuffing and a flavorful green sauce--a delicious Thanksgiving dinner for one. After the quail we were full, so we shared the tangerine sorbet---yum. We had glasses of the Maclaren syrah with the dinner. The wine was delicious. We both wanted a low-alcohol wine and our server kindly found the alcohol content of the five or six red wines served by the glass.

Please note that the restaurant offered several dishes that were not on the online menu, and the quail was one of them.
