Shrimp, Crab, and Scallops sautéed in a Lobster Brandy Sauce served with Risotto
Caesar Salad A La Cave
Nice place, different kind of steak house
Dined at Cafe La Cave with a friend. ITT was my friend’s first time but I am a return diner.
The eclectic mix of this restaurant’s indenture is part of its charm. Fancy chandeliers, two story bathroom, cave-like dining room, glowing lights - should I go on??
Service started out spot on but then our server seemed to have lost interest in our table. Other vists offered sharper service.
Our food tasted good. I loved my rice & green beans more than my main. My Diet Coke tasted a bit off (maybe not Diet Coke).
Overall a decent experience. I will return if I am in the neighborhood.
Food was horrible! Snapper was so tough that it required a fork and knife to cut through it, and a lot of effort from both utensils. Literally could not eat it.
Service was exceptional and food was amazing! Our family has been going to Cafe La Cave for decades. So thrilled to be back!
Outstanding service. Everything we had was delicious! We will be back soon. Bartender was great too!
As good as ever. Great classics, never disappoint.
The Pasta La Cave was very spicy/peppery, but the description gave no indication. Even the seafood on top had way too much pepper.
There is a reason this place has been around forever. This is one of the best places in the city. The ambiance is like no other and the food and staff are first rate. Plus, where else can you still get Bananas Foster
Beautiful place and the food and service was outstanding!
Loved this place! The ambiance was unbelievable, the service excellent. Reminded me of Old Chicago
The peppercorn steak was amazing. Please offer a smaller version. The mahi-mahi was fantastic also.
A great new place for dinner. Very different look compared to others.
The service: top notch.
We ordered steak Diane, chicken piccata and the New York strip steak. All three were prepared to perfection.
For dessert, we had bananas foster and it was superb.
Cafe la Cave is a special place and each time I dine there, they never disappoint!
Sunday September 18 was my wife and I 29 wedding anniversary. This restaurant went out of their way to make sure that this was a day to remember. The service was outstanding, the servers make sure that we were well taken care of
They young lady at the front desk made this our day by talking the request of our favorite artist and secured us in a room where we enjoyed the music immensely.
My husband and I have been here many times and they never disappoint. The best service and food. It is always consistently delicious and top-notch. We got engaged here 12 years ago and always will remember that special night. We brought some family here last night and they loved it. We can't wait to go back. Thank you for another special evening.
Service was a little off. Forgot one person's potatoes and the other person's second glass of wine.
Food was wonderful. Haven’t been there for 20 years but it was as great as I remember it. Would go back anytime I am in Chicago
My filet mignon was absolutely spot on. Great steak with all the seasonings.
Staff catered to our every need without asking. Wonderful way to celebrate our anniversary.
A unique atmosphere. The service is unbeatable. The food did not live up to its pricetag. But it is one of those places you should experience at least once. We enjoyed it. The steak was delicious. The potatoes and brocolli really did not have much taste to it.
Each and every time we go and have dinner here they never fail to be spot on!!!
Wonderful service wonderful food great place for every type of celebration, every day dining, and wish I could eat there every week :)
Nice experience overall. Good service, delicious food and drinks and we loved the cave look. Something different. Very romantic and cozy. They have Piña Colada FYI (not on the menu), and you can get it virgin if you don’t want to drink alcohol. Had escargot for the very first time, both husband and I liked it, surprisingly. It has consistency of clams and we don’t usually like clams but these were flavorful and garlicky. We had the snapper fish and Diane steak, both delicious. I felt the steak dish lacked flavor but my husband liked it so depends on each person. Steak itself was very soft and good. We got garlic mashed potatoes and veggies as sides, I didn’t like those very much. The veggies were very hard, almost raw, mashed potatoes lacked flavor. But probably if you eat it together with the dish it’s fine, I didn’t realize my snapper already comes with risotto which was delicious.
Busboy was very attentive, waiter was not the best, we feel like he didnt like us for some reason, did not check on us very Often.
Celebrated 25th Wedding Anniversary at the same venue as our wedding reception! Great food, service and they sang to us!
Wonderful evening, Gus and Staff treated us like it was 25 years ago!
The Steak Diane was very tender. The service was good.
After 45 years it is still going strong. Food and service still great and staff very hospitable. Love to go to Cafe La Cave when in the Chicago area
The Q Tips & long time friends went for dinner and enjoyed the company, drinks, meal, ambiance & outstanding service. First appetizers – shrimp cocktail for our friends. The Q’s shared raw Oysters. One person ordered the Seafood Medallions – Shrimp, Crab, and Scallops sautéed in a Lobster Brandy Sauce served with Risotto. The other three had: the Salmon Special of the day.
Go and enjoy! We did. Mrs. Q says: it seems dark when you first enter the dining area but you eyes do adjust quickly & they also have a bar area. They have menus that light up for easy reading for those who need it.
Yes, they are following all C-19 regulations needed for a restaurant.
Haven't been here in many years. The service food and ambience are perfection. Portion sizes large. Would not change one aspect of our dining experience there last night.
Food, service, ambience all were excellent as always!!! Caesar salad & steak Diane never disappoint!!
Cafe La Cave is a treasure we return to time and again. The food and service is always outstanding and impeccable. We had the always amazing Escargot and this time we tried something different, Seafood Medallions. Another tasty reason to keep returning.
Unfortunately not very good. The steak Diane came with two portions of rice as a side. Food otherwise was ok but not great. Restaurant is struggling but if they want people to come back they need some minor tweaks to make it happen. Much better suited as a banquet facility than a restaurant. Unfortunately seems like time has passed them by.
Cafe la Cave is a throwback to the days of elegant fine dining restaurants. Dimly lit tables in a unique cave-like dining room; tuxedoed waiters taking orders; and, entrees flambeed table side. Food and service combine to make this a wonderful special occasion dining experience.
Very romantic, soft candle lit restaurant and the ambiance of a Humphrey Bogart set. Food price was higher than average, but it was also very good. Excellent Dirty Martini. Menu offerings is very focused so don’t expect a ton of options. They offer what you would see on any high end restaurant. I do really like the bar area the most. Very unique and the vibe is very relaxed. We will go back.
The evening was an outstanding experience from the very moment we walked in! The food was scrumptious, the service attentive, the ambience relaxing. We had a WONDERFUL time!
Outstanding food. For $80 price tag for surf & turf, the service could have been more attentive. We couldn’t enjoy our dining experience fully with overwhelming garlic smell coming from table-side cooking from behind our seat.
Cuisine, service, presentation are all exemplary!!!
My favorite restaurant for many many years. Also a great dinner, the steak Diane was Devine.
One of the best places around the area
Excellent value top quality food
and great owners and staff
Very nice and very reasonable for the quality of service and food
