Cafe Juanita Ratings and Reviews
Amazing set menu with fantastic service from Amish
The Artic Char was amazing as was the hand rolled lamb in a pasta shell
Holly and Team put together a fabulous meal on this Valentine’s Day
If you have not been to this gem on the Eastside you need to experience this place
Thanks for making our Valentines dinner special
We have been here many times in the past 28 years and love it. This is the first time the food wasn’t great, it was a bit off, too salty, not quite right. I a. Hoping it is was one off night.
Also, part of what we love about the place is that the wait staff are adults who come across as real people instead of the typical plastic cheerfulness. Our waitress last night was all into Italian pronunciation instead of connecting.
Simply the Best. This is our 6th time at Cafe Juanita, and we left feeling excited to return again. The Chef's Tasting Menu with their wine pairings was FABULOUS for our early Valentine's Day evening. Here is what were are still talking about 3 days later: Rye and Cumin Seed bread - WOW, Foie Gras - unbelievable flavors, and pasta with creme fraiche and caviar - BOOM. I cannot see real foodies being disappointed here.
This was our second time dining at Cafe Juanita and it was a disappointment. My gnocchi was burnt and the service was absolutely sub par for one of the top restaurants in the Seattle area. We waited almost 20 minutes for our waiter after he dropped our dessert menus and then needed to leave to relieve our baby sitter; it really nailed the coffin in our not-so-great second experience here. We will go back to Canlis next time we are out for a special date.
Because the restaurant is quite expensive, I consider it a great option for special occasions. The food was very creative and excellent. The service could not have been better.
While it would be great for a couple, I strongly recommend going with a party of at least 4 (as we did). We had our first course (salads, appetizers) and second course (pasta) items served family-style so we could taste across the menu. This worked really well!
In any case, it's a special place that I'd enthusiastically recommend.
We have eaten here many times and it always delivers. The food and service are always on point. Think New York quality food, and service, with Seattle comfort.
When a chef/owner brings an experience like this it is because they care more about you than awards. BTW - they have plenty of accolades!
Flawless dining experience! Food was very delicious and creative. Our server Linda was charming and attentive. The Sommelier David recommendation for the Barbaresco we had with dinner was perfect. I’ve had more expensive dinners that were not as good.
We shared 4 small savory dishes and a dessert with an over $100 bottle of wine and left very satisfied. I’d consider it a great value for a memorable dining experience at under $300 for 2 people after tax and 20% tip.
We did the chef’s tasting menu and it was absolutely outstanding. Every course has its place and was extremely memorable. The only thing that was negative about our experience was how long it took to get the check and leave. We sat for a solid 25 minutes after we finished our dessert course before we could track down our waitress to get our check, which was frustrating. Overall, the food was spectacular. The service was sub par near the end unfortunately.
An amazing experience. I rank cafe Juanita up with a unique dining experience for anyone who loves food and can take his/her time to let the staff guide you with explanations of their seasonal and very special menu. Rabbit gnocchi, prawns “silk handkerchief “ pasta, octopus...all delicious
Holly Smith and crew provided a warm, gracious evening of superb food in a wonderful setting. Our group of four had the tasting menu which the restaurant, apparently, loves to serve. The service was perfect- unobtrusive, perfectly timed and choreographed. All we had to do was enjoy ourselves. One of the best dinners anywhere.
Was our first time to Seattle and we made the short drive out to this restaurant. So glad we did this is hands down the very best restaurant in the Seattle area. It is a true formal gourmet dining experience. Everything both looked fantastic and was cooked to perfection a perfect marriage of presentation and taste. It is no surprise the restaurant still packs a full house after many many years. Keep up the outstanding work!
Our Saturday night reservation started off with a few hiccups. The single valet attendant was nowhere to be found when we pulled up to the front of the restaurant and we had to wait a few minutes until we could hand our keys over (would not have been much of an issue but we were already running a little bit late for our reservation). Next, our table for an 8:15 seating was still occupied and we had to wait nearly half an hour until the table was ready. At this point, I was already having mixed feelings about the restaurant given the price point. The hostess (who was very professional and friendly) offered to take us to their downstairs seating section (an odd/awkward space with three tables --zero ambiance with poor sound insulation from the foot traffic above), and offered free drinks to make up for the wait, but by the time we were ready to order drinks, our table was ready.
Once we were seated, our experience improved. Save for some surprisingly cold bread (the bread basket had clearly been stored in the refrigerator, which we found puzzling), the food was outstanding. From the ingredients to the preparation and presentation, everything was top notch and incredibly tasty -- I especially enjoyed the pear salad with white truffle salt, and my main course (steak). The staff was professional, kind, and courteous. To make up for the wait, the restaurant offered us some prosciutto on the house and gave us a substantial discount on our bottle of wine, which we appreciated.
Overall, I would definitely return to Cafe Juanita, but preferably on a weekday when the restaurant is a bit less packed and the service is not spread so thin.
Very disappointing evening. Waitress waited too long to decant the wine, even after 2 requests, and the wine didn't open fully until the end of the main course. Almost every dish on the menu included mushrooms of some type, and the one entree I wanted with Chanterelles, they did not have in stock that night. The pasta dish I ordered instead was literally 5 bites. Smallest plate I have ever seen for $20. Food tasted good overall, but menu was extremely limited.
I had the yellow take for the appetizer which was fantastic, after that it went completely down hill. Soup was salty and sour, after that I ordered the pasta with mushrooms, cauliflower and potatoes as sides. Everything was so salty I couldn't finish anything. The potatoes weren't salty but they were actually kind of bland although they were perfect in texture. The waiter took off those from our bill which was very nice because we didn't ask for it. We got a hazelnut gellato on the house because it was my husband's birthday which was delicious. Sadly we won't be returning...
This was the best meal I can remember ever eating. Well, I'm approaching 60 so that really means the best meal in the past 20 years... The chef's choices were spot on and each dish was amazing. I've only eaten here twice, but both times were delicious with absolutely no complaints about the food, atmosphere, service or experience. A very satisfying evening. Oh, and for those that worry about the small portions, don't worry. by the time we left, we were stuffed.
We did the chef's tasting menu, which overall was good, but not exceptional. Loved the scallop, foie and tajarin. The wine pairing was white dominant. The dessert course was composed well but all three options were pretty sweet in addition to a sweet wine pairing. I'd definitely go again, but may stay away from the tasting menu and order a la carte.
Service was pretty good. The staff was very attentive once we got our order placed (it took a few minutes after being seated before they were ready for us) and the courses were timed well. Plates were cleared quickly and table was left clean.
