Cafe Gratitude - Larchmont Ratings and Reviews
Would have loved to get all our drinks first at the start of the meal. Had to wait after my friend got her drink AND after we both received our soups.
Also, if I knew that the WISE shake was going to be as rich and thick as it was I would have loved to have thought of the option of splitting that drink with my friend and I would have then ordered another dish on top of the soup and baguette. Just some creative thinking.
This is a great organic find with amazing employees who are attentive and friendly. I stopped by for breakfast twice while on vacation, and it was delicious. The pancakes taste amazing and the French toast was both visually appealing and flavorful! I would recommend it to anybody, especially those seeking an organic option.
I find that the pricing is really much too high for what the portion sizes are and what you get.
I used to be a regular at Cafe Gratitude but since going to many other Vegan restaurants I have come to realize that the pricing and value here is by very good unfortunately:(
Every time I go to Cafe Gratitude I tell myself this is the last time. I only went this time because of my date. I cook much better vegan food at home. The lasagna was okay but slimy this time.
Because it was so loud, my date asked to be seated in a back corner, which one hostess went and cleaned. Before she could take us there, the other hostess took other people there and we were stuck in an over-loud spot.
Service was hit and miss. The server was usually not around but luckily the runner took his job seriously.
All-in-all, not a good experience for dinner - but one I have come to expect from this restaurant.
Always heard great word of mouth about all locations. Business lunch with a client who has a special diet and I needed to make sure she would feel great having a menu providing a variety of delicious choices. Cafe Gratitude delivered a wonderful experience!
This meal turned into nearly 3 hours because our waiter consistently ignored us. We decided to order desert (which added about an hour) and resulted in the most tasteless $12 small slice of nothing. The waiter was not having it about a refund on the desert. If somebody reads this, i'd like a refund on my entire meal.
We were set up at a communal table for a group of 5, which was fine! But they kept bringing us other people's drinks.
I brought my carnivorous family to try some delicious vegan/vegetarian food and they didn't love it, didn't hate it.
I loved the kelp noodles w pesto, and chefs pizza was delicious.
I am not a fan of vegan food so I went here to make my girlfriend happy. The staff are not vegan and the dishes that they offered on the DineLA menu although yummy were a disaster for my digestive system later on. Prices are also steep. That being said the nachos are kind of yummy, but I really should avoid so much carbs.
Service was terrible. I didn't actually receive what the server explained. The server then tried to persuade me to like what I did not actually like. I asked for something instead and my food was pretty much finished when that came out. No hot water was offered for my guest's tea. None of our plates were cleared so the table was incredibly messy the entire time. My guest and I come here all the time and this was incredible bad service and management need to know about it.
I often go to Gratitude for lunch, sometimes for breakfast and until now, it has always been a pleasure. This time it was different, We were promptly seated, the food arrived quickly, faster than usual, all tasty as always... then they started taking the plates as quickly as they could. Even one not finished, they were so quick we didn't have time to say a thing. Then at 12:40 the woman at the entrance came to tell us we had to leave in 15 minutes, because they had another reservation. For a place that proclaims in BIG, Love, Serve, Remember... there was little love, more take than serve, and they forgot to remember what they claim is their reason for existence. It's a bit hypocritical to claim Love, Serve, Remember, give you sweet lip, and behave as if money was the only reason they prepare the food. Will try them again, even that it was not quite a nice Sunday lunch, the feeling it left was rather disagreeable. Disappointed, and not cheap, for 2 we did spend over a $100 with 22% service, Waiter was nice, management not so this time.
As a non vegan, I found the food shockingly yummy and satisfying! Menu highlights are the Community (butternut squash dip) starter, and the Humble (curried lentils and other veggies on quinoa and rice, with tomato jam) main. Staff is very warm and engaging.
What took the experience from great to amazing was the server Heather. She was quick to accommodate my allergies. She also had a vast knowledge of the menu and was willing to honestly share her opinions to help us make the best decision possible. Her cheery upbeat attitude was so pleasant throughout the entire lunch. I'd really recommend sitting in her section when you go to dine.
We came for Mother's Day dinner. I've been to 3 of the Cafe Gratitude locations, and this one was not on the same par as the other 2. The restaurant itself seemed a bit dirty - especially walking to the bathroom and down the hallway. Our waitress was alright. Food was prepared in a timely manner even though the restaurant was relatively busy, so that was appreciated. However, the food I ordered was significantly not good. I've had brunch at other Cafe Gratitude locations before, and that meal is GOOD; however, the lunch/dinner menu just isn't as good I feel.
My husband and I shared the roasted garnet yams (I Am Comforted) - the half that weren't burned were good. The burned half were not good. The dipping sauces served with the yams didn't make sense at all, and neither were very good. Definitely NOT worth the $10 the dish cost.
I ordered the autumn grain salad (I Am Dazzling) for my entree. It was GROSS. I requested the dressing on the side, and the waitress brought 2 sauces about 5 minutes after I'd gotten my dish... one sauce was the pesto listed in the description, one sauce was something random that really tasted weird. I think it may have been a flavored molasses? Not sure. It wasn't good. The pesto wasn't stellar either. And the salad itself was so disappointing! Very bitter taste, and hardly any rice/quinoa or butternut squash. It was mostly radicchio, which is probably why the salad was so overpoweringly bitter.
The vanilla bean coconut cashew ice cream was pretty good. But not good enough for what it cost either.
Overall SO disappointed with the meal, especially since it was for Mother's Day! Usually I love Cafe Gratitude, but this location/experience didn't live up to my previous CG meals.
We usually go to the Venice location but met friends at Larchmont. I love Cafe Gratitude. I'm a gluten free vegetarian - so sometimes I have maybe one menu choice when eating out. Not so at Cafe Gratitude where I've got so many great choices I actually have a hard time deciding what to get! We took meat eating friends, and they loved the food! Thanks Cafe Gratitude - I'm grateful for you.
great place to go for a healthy meal, the wine selection is small but very good. We sat on the patio and the tables are quite close together, unfortunately there was a blow hard rocker at the next table who spoke loudly and incessantly. Next time I will eat inside.
