Went there with a group of 10 on a busy Saturday night. The service and food could not have been better. This is a terrific local restaurant. I’d highly recommend it.
The food very good and the service was excellent but I was surprised by some of the prices like the Fajitas at $37
Fabulous margaritas (although pricey) and the best queso (add the chorizo) I’ve ever had. Super pleasant and attentive wait staff. We had the shrimp tacos and chicken quesadilla -both were excellent. Would def come back.
This was our second visit to Cafe Frida while visiting NY. We had an even better experience this time...got our table right away, great service, lovely ambiance, yummy food and great drinks!
Terrific food, terrific setting. Probably best to make a reservation so you won't be disappointed.
The service was so bad, and it took forever to place our order, get hot sauce, and the bill. Food was bland
Had a fun night with a birthday crowd of 9 people. Great service, everyone loved the food. Thanks!
Really disappointing- used to be so much better. Service not great, very noisy, fajitas were not good - seemed like they were coated in sauce made with cornstarch and maybe some sugar. When I made the reservation I indicated birthday (mine!) but don’t know why they asked because there was no recognition. Tequila selection (and taster) was good, as was guacamole and salsa selection. Disappointing in general as well as pricey ($27 shrimp fajitas), which is a shame because really like this place.
Great place for a cozy dinner and great food. A great restaurant.
The music was a perfect volume.
Wonderful! Great drinks and food.
I thought the food would be better. Will not go back unfortunately, staff was attentive and restaurant was okay. Food is most important and I was disappointed
Very friendly staff. We were a party of only 4 and they would not do separate checks. So that was disappointing. One of our Party ordered a side dish that never came. Plate helpings were very small and there were no extras at all (i.e. refried beans, spanish rice...). Even chips / salsa were an additional charge. This was near our hotel, so that was a plus!
Been going here for years but they recently changed the menu — and their prices — and we will not be back. Mole enchiladas no longer on the menu. Queso fundido the same price as before but less than half the size?! And the topper? Steak tacos which a month ago meant 4 tacos brimming with carne asada. Our most recent visit my daughter got 2 very sad looking (maybe 2 or 3 small pieces of steak) for $14. It was like a candid camera joke. Spoke to manager and he just shrugged...
Used to love this place but we will never go back.
Rey mezcal was an amazing experience.
Also people who is attending is amazing . Cozy place!
Everything was good. I think the margaritas could taste better.
We love this restaurant! Food is delicious, and service is warm and welcoming. Our only complaint is the fact the brunch menu is served all day. We would prefer the option to order off of the dinner menu at lunch time. I would like to order the chicken mole, not eggs. But all good... other options beside eggs on the brunch menu.
Lovely restaurant and ambiance. My shrimp enchiladas were delicious- loved the sauce in them. Great vegan choices too. Prices were reasonable for NYC.
Our meal at Café Frida was wonderful! The food was authentic and fresh and the service was attentive and friendly.
Go to cafe frida every time we are in nyc. Always great..
The lack of background “music” was much appreciated. The service was a bit chaotic but the food was very good and the staff well-meaning. We will definitely return when we are again in NYC.
I was here for a special menu, Oaxaca come to nyc so the food was not the regular menu. That said, the staff and atmosphere were incredible. I’m anxious to return to try their regular menu.
We went for a special meal because a chef from Oaxaca had come to do a special menu. The service was great. The food was very good, especially the appetizers. The ambience was warm and friendly and there was excitement because the chef spoke to the people there. We would like to see this repeated and also other chefs from other areas of Mexico to come and prepare their specialties. Very exciting.
We have eaten at Café Frida many times. It is our GoTO Mexican in New York. Always delicious, with new ideas and the drinks are made fresh. Highly recommend
Had a early reservation and got a nice table in the glass atrium. Great view of the Museum of Natural History. Great drinks, great food, great service, great people-watching.
Wonderful place to dine, enjoy good conversations with friends, great tequila drinks, and have a good time.
Fortunate for us they still had their special menu for the Day of the Dead holiday and what an excellent selection! These items (pork dish especially) should be on the regular menu! Yum!!! Everything was great and staff is always pleasant!
Dinner was great fun. Great food, ambiance,,and location.
Cafe Frida is an Upper West Side Stalwart. That being said, I find the space crowded. The service was very good and the menu had a nice variety. At Sunday Brunch, the drinks were all served in highball sized glasses. and the price was what I would have paid for a larger cocktail at other Columbus Avenue Restaurants. The food was tasty and freshly made but the portions were small. I also felt that $14.00 was a lot to pay for a small basket of chips and some guacamole.
As always Yolanda made sure our evening was great, food was on point and the hibiscus margaritas amazing as always.
Items missing from order, waitress missing when we tried to solve it. Food undistinguished. When Mexican (esp Tex-Mex) is tasteless, it's time round round of the cattle and move on.
Love this place! Good food, superb quality & excellent service are a Win-Win!
I found this place a good Mexican restaurant in the neighborhood. Corn tortillas are good. They have great service.
very tasty vegan version of chilli rellenos (not what i necessarily was interested in but it was a nice surprise)
Pleasantly surprised. The vegan choices were excellent.
This spot is great for date night. My vegan girlfriend and I (omnivore) were pleasantly surprised by the many options available to both of us. The service is wonderful, ambience is delightful and views of Theodore Roosevelt Park are bar none. We'll definitely be back.
Having spent February at San Miguel mex, we appreciate how authentic this food is.
We came for brunch, and it was our first visit.
Hubby had the Huevos Reveluetos. Scrambled eggs with Mexican Charizo. Great depth of flavor.
I had the Huevos Rancheros Divorciado. Excellent. The green source was flavorful and the red sauce was spicy. The guacamole had a nice kick too.
Can't wait to come for dinner
Great food, good value, good atmosphere. Highly recommend.
Mediocre Tex Mex. nothing special. Service was lackluster. Server was not engaging. There are better venues for alike cuisine. Enchiladas were mediocre ... at best. Authenticity remained to be seen. Would highly recommend manager/owner spend a time in the South West to learn the nuances of the food. Touted as the flagship restaurant. VERY DISAPPOINTING.
