Cafe Firenze Ratings and Reviews
I have to say after eating there once before and loving everything I was extremely disappointed this time around for what we paid for the meal I would have expected more my lobster bisque was cold and I had to send it back and even then it didn't taste that great and my ravioli was also cold and salty I would never order it again the best part of my meal was my drink was amazing
Cafe Firenze has been our favorite restaurant for awhile now. It's our little neighborhood gem. Our experiences have always been awesome. However, our last visit was disappointing............We were asked when making reservations if we were celebrating anything. I said yes my husband's birthday. When we arrived and were been seating they asked again if we were celebrating anything and I again said yes my husband's birthday. Our server was not very attentive and we went long periods of time with our her checking on us even though she passed by us many times..................I thought at least a dessert would be offered for my husband's birthday but nothing was even said...............At over $100 dollars a piece for our ribeyes I expected much more.............We have always had excellent experiences here and I was so let down that my husband's birthday was not even mentioned after I had been asked twice before seating if we were celebrating anything special...................I certainly hope this was an isolated incident.
The first table we were seated at was on the patio. Weather was chilly, no ambiance out there and the table was not set even though the reservation was made way in advance and I called to confirm that morning. We requested a change and although it was a busy Friday night and we were a table of 8, the staff rallied and got us inside. Changed the night! Now warm and able to here the live music our evening was set. Food was great. We brought our own wine so not sure about their selections but we definitely recommend the gnocchi.
I had been here for lunch and had a great risotto so i wanted to take my husband for dinner because we both enjoy fabio and the way he says hambooger.
we took a friend for dinner on her 70th birthday but were less than enthusiastic about the meal and the service and the vintage car gathering in the parking lot.
the server seemed a little scattered and didn’t get one of our meals correct.
my husband & our friend had the duck bolognese special i had the risotto special. a better risotto i’ve never had but the duck was dry even though it was steeped in a nice ragu.
then we finished with the bread pudding which was dense, hard and seemed old.
so IF you go here, i recommend the risotto.
having said all of this i have to add that restaurants in simi seem to suffer the same misfortune that they do in the north san fernando valley.
the pool of servers and cooks are pretty inexperienced.
We always have a great experience at Cafe Firenze. The food was as creative as always, fresh, and flavorful. Our server was cheerful and efficient. We went on a Friday night so it was bustling--but we could still hold a conversation between the 4 of us (we were in the "Wine Room"). Live music in the next room made for a festive evening out.
We dine at Cafe Firenze quite often but the last couple of times the food has had a few issues. This last time we went with friends and he ordered a seafood pasta dish where the pasta came crunchy almost uncooked. He sent it back and all they did was warm it up, pasta still not cooked and the seafood was overcooked. Just not up to their regular standards. Service was great though.
This restaurant used to be a favorite, but it has gone wayyyy downhill...poor seating for a requested special anniversary dinner, average service, lukewarm and not very special appetizers and entrees (tasteless)....and when asked about dessert (declined) - no question about coffee - just "thanks - here is the check." We will not go back there again, and recommend others to go elsewhere - sad, as it used to be great. Now it is not even "good." The Owners should be very embarrassed.
This was my wife and my second visit to Cafe Firenze. For appetizers we had carpaccio and crab cakes. The carpaccio was very good and fresh. Very nice. The crab cakes were three big balls that were very tasty and a great value. For dinner we had two pizzas, the PROSCIUTTO, BURRATA & ARUGULA and the SAUSAGE, 4 CHEESE & TRUFFLE, as well as the SEAFOOD RIGATONI. The pizza were uniquely delicious and deserve a four out of five rating. The Seafood Rigatoni was also very good but not excellent so I will give it a four out of five as well. We received a nice complimentary birthday dessert, banana bread with chocolate syrup, that was scrumptious. I think this place is an overall good value and has a nice kitchen and staff.
Our server Amanda was the best! The food and ambiance is consistantly good, but Amanda took extra steps to insure gluten free options were truly gluten free and that our guest of honor's birthday was a highlight....all with big smiles, humor and a quick wit!
You know the food is Excellent, delicious, perfecto, oh man this is sooo good but I have to tell you, when we arrived Thursday at 6PM the hostess was not there (thats ok) but the bartender, a waiter and a couple other employees saw us waiting. There were 4 people in front of us. Not one of them acknowledged us. If the food wasn't so good I don't think we would come back. Any acknowledgement would have been great instead of feeling invisible. There was enough time that I thought... Im going to call the restaurant and let them know there are 6 people waiting. Also it was rather warm inside, A/C not working?
We had eagerly anticipated a dinner with family and friends in honor of my wife's birthday. We were seated in a covered outdoor area in the rear of the restaurant. Having eaten at Cafe Firenze numerous times, we had high expectations for the food - and they were met. Even the bottles of the house wine we ordered were excellent. However, the service was perhaps the worst we have experienced at any restaurant in the past few years. Our primary server was pleasant but paid little attention to us, kept us waiting FOREVER before taking the orders for our various courses, failed to bring water, wine, and other things until the second or third request (and, in some cases, never brought what was requested), and apologized for the "inexcusable" service but did nothing to improve it. Fortunately, LA has many wonderful restaurants. It will likely be a long time before we return the Cafe Firenze, despite the excellent food. A restaurant is a combination of atmosphere, service, food, and value. The abominable service we received has encouraged us to see what other fine restaurants have to offer.
Substandard service no toilet paper or soap in the ladies room. Waited at our table for a wait staff to acknowledge that we were even there took about 20 minutes. I asked the hostess if the server would come over and take our drink order she said I'm really sorry but we are busy with a large party in the other room. The bus person came and asked us if we wanted more bread I said we never got any. Very inexperienced staff. Very disappointing!!! It was my birthday dinner.!!!!
We frequent this restaurant and tonight was the worst ever!
Out of steaks on a Friday night. It's a regular item on their menu! Waitress tried to justify it.
Took forever to get bread. Waitress tried to blame the busboy. Drinks went unfilled for what seemed like forever.
Bass was so loud on the live music that we couldn't even talk.
Gelato sat waiting to be brought to the table until it was warm. Had to ask the busboy to bring it as we could see it sitting there and waitress was no where in sight.
No, it wasn't any busier than normal either.
Horrible Horrible Horrible arguing waitress!!!!!
My wife and I visited Cafe Firenze for the first time on a Friday night. For starters, we ordered the Lobster Bisque and Wedge Salad. I was sitting facing the kitchen so I saw that our bisque and salad was ready to be served but our server did not notice. Our bisque and salad sat on the counter for 10 minutes until my wife told another staff member that it would be nice if they be be brought to our table. Both items were then brought to our table and a manager came over to apologize for the delay. The Lobster Bisque was luke warm, watery and contained no lobster. It was a disappointment. The wedge salad was nicely prepared and had a wonderful taste accented perfectly with the bacon. For our main dishes, we selected the GARGANELLI & MEATBALL and the FETTUCCINI ALFREDO w/CHICKEN. The pasta in each dish was very good, however, the meatballs and the chicken were only mildly flavorful. The bread that was served was very good and definitely made the overall meal better. I think the value is above average at this restaurant and I think the staff is friendly but I wasn't overly impressed with the dishes. I intend to visit Cafe Firenze again and look forward to a better experience. I rate this visit 3 1/2 stars.
