Cafe Firenze Ratings and Reviews
Food was great, and the server was attentive; however, the hostess did not tell the server (or he forgot) we had reserved the table for our son's birthday. I made a note of the special occasion on Open Table, and the hostess wished our son a Happy Birthday, so I don't know what went wrong, but there was no special dessert or recognition of the birthday.
Cafe Firenze is great restaurant, and even better that it's in Moorpark. Our foursome had short ribs, sole, a filet mignon, and roast pork, all prepared beautifully and creatively. The salads were delicious too, especially the truffle wedge. Our server was attentive and pleasantly upbeat. Parking is easy, as well. We will be back, to be sure.
I ordered the Shortrib entree and they must have used a meat tenderizer. I was very ill by the time I reached home. With well known chefs I would think that they would not use such chemicals. Service was very good, staff pleasant and friendly. Also had a green salad and Polenta. Overall the food was just poor for the money.
New Years Eve early dinner. Peter/Waiter excellent, friendly and attentive. My dinner seafood pasta was excellent, light sauce and great crabmeat. Hubby had short ribs -didn't care for sauce, not lot of flavor, but tender. Overall, one of our favorite restaurants. Love Fabio!
After watching Fabio Viviani cook on Top Chef the Cafe Firenze was a definite food stop in our California trip. His recipes are being executed by John beautifully. The Roasted Chicken was our tables' favorite and was Fabio's secret weapon on the show. I believe it was a grandmother's recipe and it was truly delicious! The pasta dishes were a little AL dente for our taste but the sauces were rich, creamy and right on. The sport ribs were meaty and savory. The pork was cooked perfectly. All in all our meal was quite good and the roasted chicken was worth the drive out to the Simi Valley.
This is our go to nice restaurant for the moorpark area.
We have been coming here for years. Always had a good meal. This week, it felt as though we were a bit rushed and the quality didn't seem as up to par. The plates always look like they are out of a magazine. This time they felt as food was thrown on a plate and sent out.
For five people, we ordered a round if drinks and salads. Then dinner. And after dinner coffee. But, we were done in an hour. Like I said, felt rushed.
But, like I said we have been coming here for years and always had a great meal. The specials are always fantastic.
Not going to let one off night ruin it. We celebrate most birthdays and anniversaries here.
We recently had dinner at Cafe Firenze after spending the afternoon at the nearby Reagan Library. The restaurant is very pretty but was a disappointment. We were seated in the “outside” area and were chilly throughout the meal. When we asked for an inside table we we told they were reserved. When I mentioned that we had a reservation they told me I didn’t specifically request an indoor table- although nothing about that was on the website.
The food and service were mediocre- certainly not what we would expect from the top rated restaurant in the area. Our minestrone soup was watery and lukewarm, our pasta undercooked. We would have told this to our waitress but she was nowhere to be found until the end of our meal. She did comp us 2 desserts but we would rather have had a better meal.
This place is amazing! A real gem in a suburban neighborhood in Moorpark. We had never heard of it, but our daughter & son-in-law gave us a gift card. Excellent chef prepared cuisine! I had the spinach ravioli, my husband had the rack of lamb with cassoulet. I also had a superb caprese salad as an appetizer. For dessert, the very best chocolate gelato ever! Terrific coffee too! Highly recommended!
Great service on this night and what a beautiful location. Comfortable seating. Perfect selection of decor. Friendly hostess. Attentive servers cleared table and made sure we had everything. Got a drink before dinner at the fabulous bar located in the center. Food was absolutely perfect.
I have to say after eating there once before and loving everything I was extremely disappointed this time around for what we paid for the meal I would have expected more my lobster bisque was cold and I had to send it back and even then it didn't taste that great and my ravioli was also cold and salty I would never order it again the best part of my meal was my drink was amazing
Cafe Firenze has been our favorite restaurant for awhile now. It's our little neighborhood gem. Our experiences have always been awesome. However, our last visit was disappointing............We were asked when making reservations if we were celebrating anything. I said yes my husband's birthday. When we arrived and were been seating they asked again if we were celebrating anything and I again said yes my husband's birthday. Our server was not very attentive and we went long periods of time with our her checking on us even though she passed by us many times..................I thought at least a dessert would be offered for my husband's birthday but nothing was even said...............At over $100 dollars a piece for our ribeyes I expected much more.............We have always had excellent experiences here and I was so let down that my husband's birthday was not even mentioned after I had been asked twice before seating if we were celebrating anything special...................I certainly hope this was an isolated incident.
The first table we were seated at was on the patio. Weather was chilly, no ambiance out there and the table was not set even though the reservation was made way in advance and I called to confirm that morning. We requested a change and although it was a busy Friday night and we were a table of 8, the staff rallied and got us inside. Changed the night! Now warm and able to here the live music our evening was set. Food was great. We brought our own wine so not sure about their selections but we definitely recommend the gnocchi.
We went for an anniversary lunch mid-week. The food was delicious; my husband really enjoyed the Kobe beef meatloaf and the orecchiette was wonderful. The portion size is perfect, and we had just enough room for dessert. I highly recommend the flourless chocolate cake. The staff was attentive, and rounded out a very nice dining experience. It is a three hour drive for us, but well worth it when we are in the area. We will definitely be back.
I had been here for lunch and had a great risotto so i wanted to take my husband for dinner because we both enjoy fabio and the way he says hambooger.
we took a friend for dinner on her 70th birthday but were less than enthusiastic about the meal and the service and the vintage car gathering in the parking lot.
the server seemed a little scattered and didn’t get one of our meals correct.
my husband & our friend had the duck bolognese special i had the risotto special. a better risotto i’ve never had but the duck was dry even though it was steeped in a nice ragu.
then we finished with the bread pudding which was dense, hard and seemed old.
so IF you go here, i recommend the risotto.
having said all of this i have to add that restaurants in simi seem to suffer the same misfortune that they do in the north san fernando valley.
the pool of servers and cooks are pretty inexperienced.
We always have a great experience at Cafe Firenze. The food was as creative as always, fresh, and flavorful. Our server was cheerful and efficient. We went on a Friday night so it was bustling--but we could still hold a conversation between the 4 of us (we were in the "Wine Room"). Live music in the next room made for a festive evening out.
We dine at Cafe Firenze quite often but the last couple of times the food has had a few issues. This last time we went with friends and he ordered a seafood pasta dish where the pasta came crunchy almost uncooked. He sent it back and all they did was warm it up, pasta still not cooked and the seafood was overcooked. Just not up to their regular standards. Service was great though.
This restaurant used to be a favorite, but it has gone wayyyy downhill...poor seating for a requested special anniversary dinner, average service, lukewarm and not very special appetizers and entrees (tasteless)....and when asked about dessert (declined) - no question about coffee - just "thanks - here is the check." We will not go back there again, and recommend others to go elsewhere - sad, as it used to be great. Now it is not even "good." The Owners should be very embarrassed.
