Cafe Fiorello Ratings and Reviews
When the host tells you they have a very nice booth for you, that might mean stuffing you in the back next to the restrooms where they will ignore you. Waited almost 15 mins before we even got water. Waited another 10 for my iced tea. Sever offered did plates so we could share some of each others dishes and never came back.
I really love the veal parm and the antipasto bar.
We have been going to Cafe Fiorello for 20 years and have recommended it friends all of these years but recently the menu has been changed for the worse and worse than the so has the quality of the food. We had the tuna, branzino and pasta served as our main courses. All three were disappointing. The pasta at a local pizza/pasta restaurant is better and is half the price.
A convenient place for Lincoln center events Menu has a good selection from pizza to steak
The service was good ,food presented nicely .i had the 3 vegetable selection ?Cauiflour a bit greasy ,quiche was good and quinoa not seasoned well
My friends enjoyed their meals and the pizza was Agood appitertizer to share
I always enjoy coming to Café Fiorello. You are so welcoming, and the place is fun. I had a very powerful Bloody Mary (liked the salt and pepper rim) and the artichoke frittata, which was delicious. The artichokes were tender and plentiful, and the espresso with which we closed our pre-concert meal was great. My friend had the sausage and broccolini omelet and especially liked the way the broccolini were chopped up. Those are generous plates, with potatoes and salad as well as the omelets. Thank you.
Fiorello fills up fast and is cheerfully noisy. My only problem with the place is that there are so many tables close together that it's hard to wriggle out. You don't leave the restaurant, you extricate yourself. Oh well, more reason for staying and enjoying it.
Cafe Fiorello is one of a handful of restaurants that we visit on a regular basis. The service is excellent and the food is always delicious. The menu has many choices without being overwhelming, with many options for gluten-free and vegetarians. Pizzas and pasta really shine (especially their lasagna!) and desserts are also excellent. Nice selection of wines and well made cocktails. Reservations recommended as it is a popular choice for the crowds going to performances at Lincoln Center and the nearby cinema.
We have enjoyed Cafe Fiorello on many occasions, as we did on this one. The food is very fresh and very good.
However, we think they overbooked their reservations. The restaurant was extremely crowded and it was very cold out so those waiting inside made it feel even more chaotic. We arrived early for our reservation, hoping to be seated early. We understood that this would not be possible so we waited. We checked in frequently to remind them that we were still there. We're not sure we would have gotten our table in time for our 8PM concert had we not been so diligent. We report this only as a word to the wise.
When we were seated, we requested the complimentary glasses of Prosecco that were advertised as a benefit of our Jazz at Lincoln membership. Our was waiter said that they do not honor this promotion. Despite the fact that we had seen the maitre'd pouring Prosecco for customers waiting for tables, the waiter did not summon the maitre'd as we requested. Sad service due to overbooking.
We had a reservation for 4 at 12:15 on Saturday. We were taken right away. But there were no more booths and we were seated at a table, squeezed between two tables for two and behind 2 ,largeu round tables. No one offered to take our coats and we could barely fit in the space we were assigned. The food and service we’re good, but we were very uncomfortable. In the future I will request a booth or a table in the rear of the restaurant, unless the weather is warm and we can eat outside.
A Saturday brunch before a matinee Met Opera performance of Thaïs - where to go?
Of course, Cafe Fiorello. When in town for Lincoln Center shows, we dine here. The food is carefully prepared, from warm luscious risottos to osso bucco and House pastas. Brunch is a revelation from Eggs Fiorentina to gigantic pancakes, which taste like fluffy soufflés. The service is quick and timely. And sometimes you may even find two complementary flutes of prosecco to enjoy on your wife’s birthday. Prego Cafe Fiorello!
We frequent this establishment because we live in the neighborhood and usually have a good experience. Last night we had a waiter I had never seen before and we were trying to clarify two items on the menu which had the exact same description even though they were clearly two distinctly different items. These were the chicken pepperoni parm and the chicken parm with vodka sauce. The waiter didn't seem to care when we pointed it out , and we couldn't get clarification from him either. This is a very unusual experience for this restaurant and that is why I bother to write about it. Disappointing server. Will not sit in his section again.
Fiorello's is a wonderful energetic setting. It's amazing with the big crowd they get prior to Lincoln Center performances how quickly and precisely the food arrives. We are locals and this place never disappoints. Nice touch when they come with the chocolate chip cookies at the end of the meal on the bakers tray.
I have been a patron of the restaurant for years but lately Cafe Fiorello has been a big disappointment. Just last Thursday, the shrimp on my Salmon and Shrimp dish were inedible, horribly salty and the shrimp, if that is what one can call them... literally fell apart as I tried to cut them in half there was no substance to them at all. I ordered a side of pasta which was so smothered with heavy tasteless tomato sauce I had to send it back (at a cost of $14 for a half portion one would expect a nice filetto sauce) What ever happened to subtlety of flavor? My dining partners lasagna had the consistency of a piece of cardboard. I am sorry to say I will not be returning to Cafe Fiorello any time soon nor will I recommend it to any of my friends. At this rate, If it wasn't for the location I doubt if the restaurant would stay in business. The couple sitting across from us from Massachusetts were very unhappy with their meal as well...
It was a birthday celebration for my friend and myself.
We loved the tapas, main entree and delicious lemon pie.
Our waiter was knowledgeable, very warm and friendly.
We found out he was a student aspiring to law school and
having two sons who are lawyers facilitated a conversation
about his plans. We felt very taken care of as he brought out
glasses of prosecco for us and candles in our lemon pie along with
a serenade of "Happy Birthday" at the end of our meal!
The food was very good and it came out of the kitchen faster than our waiter could brig the bottle of wine that we ordered. Our food was hot fresh and delicious a nice choice of wine but our waiter was slammed with customers and not as attentive as I would have liked.
I invited friends from Boston to attend the Met Opera and for dinner at Fiorello ...I always enjoy its food, service and ambience.
Our waiter was especially accommodating, he knew to give us enough to time to enjoy the meal and knew when to approach our table for the next course we desired.
We loved the vegetable platter as a starter and it only continued to get better with the each following course.
The cheese cake was a hit; we're all cheesecake lovers. I personally prefer it plain; having the chocolate on the side was a perfect solution .
We had an excellent dinner before Saturday night opera. Location across from Lincoln Center is perfect. Great food - fettucinni bolognese (with wild boar), and the lasagna specialty of the house (NOT the typical lasagna!). Fried artichokes appetizer was awazing. Good range of reasonable options on wine list. This place is bustling!! Not the place to linger over dinner - very busy but not obnoxiously so. We advance requested a booth (per recommendation of a previous reviewer) and very glad we did. But despite how busy and packed it was, the wait staff (especially Karen) was awesome. Very patient and attentive. We'll definitely go back.
Cafe Fiorello likes to advertise itself as being gluten-free and vegetarian friendly, which it isn't. I ordered a gluten-free pasta dish and basically got a small bowl of pasta with tomato sauce for $25. A drink costs more than a salad. The food is mediocre and overpriced, even for Lincoln Center.
Right across from Lincoln Center, and very receptive to getting you to the theater on time. Food is excellent and service is attentive even though this place is always full and busy between 5:30 and 8:00 pre show!! I like the vibe... great way to start the evening before a show.
