Cafe Fiore Ratings and Reviews
Hadn't been to Cafe Fiore in a long time, but had dinner there twice in the last month. Both times it was excellent in every way. Great service. Delicious Food. We will definitely start making it a regular stop for dinner. The lasagna was excellent and the NY Steak was one of the best I've had in a long time. Cooked perfectly! Good service too.
We were given the absolute WORST table in the restaurant, with a reservation, and I had requested a booth. The table was directly across from the pickup from the kitchen. People who had just walked in were given a booth, no reservation. We got crap, but eventually got moved after I complained A LOT. Were moved to the bar area, which was a bit better. Looked back at the table we had been at and they began using it as a plate staging zone. Stacked with dishes and napkin rolls.
Don’t take a reservation if you aren’t going to provide nice seating. And don’t put walk ins in a better spot than reservations.
Hostess is very sweet. Food & ambience are good. Our waiter was nice but I've never encountered an issue at any other restaurant when asking for a 'splash' of the wine to make sure I like it prior to ordering a glass. So much better than returning a full glass if it's not good. Perhaps this particular server is not familiar with that common request. He was fine other than that. I strongly recommend the caramel custard dessert...amazing!
Fiores is always on our to-do list when visiting Ventura. Whether it's for lunch or dinner, the food, service, and atmosphere are consistently excellent. Once again, with our recent visit, we weren't disappointed. The portions are generous so don't fill up on the delicious bread. Also, our reservations were for 5:00 on a Tuesday. Shortly after we were seated, the place was filled up so I suggest making reservations.
Great Italian fare and wine list. Can never pass up the gnocchi; gravy is just delicious. The portions are perfect, and the service on point. I really appreciate being able to find some French, Italian and Napa options I don't generally see elsewhere. Great local music as well. Cafe Fiore is a favorite for lunch or dinner whenever I'm in Ventura.
When I made the reservation, I indicated it was our 40th Anniversary,. Unfortunately, Cafe Fiore ignored the note so our special dinner was incomplete and a disappointment. That being said, it is a lovely restaurant, the food was delicious and our server was very attentive.
Only bad thing was my pasta some of the pasta were burnt, and they should of know that it was not show ready for the cooks / chef to plate it !
It was like my food was ready and my wife’s was not done. So they took mine and put it under a heat oven and was there too long !
Boyfriend and I went here for a date night and to be honest the food was amazing but the service was very slow and a little frustrating.
We got the Melanzane Alla Parmigian as an appetizer and cleaned the plate it was sooo good! My boyfriend got the Heart Healthy Pasta which was surprisingly very good and fulfilling for being a "healthy" dish and I got the Ravioli Di Ricotta which was also very very tasty - it was fresh and so flavorful!
It may have just been the waitress we had gotten that night, or we had gone a night that they were under staffed but we had to ask our waitress her for refills on our drinks 5 times before she brought us our refill . She also forgot to bring the Alfredo sauce I had asked for on the side of my dish when I had first put in the order-I reminded her when our food first came out the kitchen, but didn't get it until after we were done with dinner and had asked for a check.
Again the food was so AMAZING, but the service was just not good.
My reservation was honored even though there were people waiting to be seated. I was pleasantly surprised by that. I was dining alone and seated at a table for 2 in an area in which there was almost no ventilation on a very warm evening. Would have lingered except for that. Also it was along a "thoroughfare" for wait staff to get from one side of the dining room to the other. Bread, tapenade, and appetizer were excellent. Main course was good. Interesting menu and wine list overall.
Arrived at 7 PM and was seated immediately as far from the band as we could get. The music was so loud that it was impossible to have a conversation at the dinner table. I ordered the house dinner salad (very good) and osso buco . The osso buco was made from beef and had a sweet taste. Not the greatest I have had at other restaurants. Next time I go to Ventura I will skip this restaurant.
Great neighborhood Italian spot in downtown Ventura. We ordered the cioppino, mushroom risotto and the veal marsala. All were excellent. The veal came with a decadent and delicious cauliflower mac & cheese. The service was friendly and attentive. This was our first visit, but definitely not our last.
There for birthday dinner. Got there early (5:30) Huge Bar in center of room. The restaurant is mostly dark and unattractive. Sat at our table for 10 MINUTES before our server came by and was mostly unavailable for our meal. Water given us was unfiltered tap water, which undrinkable in Ventura. Food was OK but not up to the cost. Overall I do not recommend this restaurant unless you are a bar fly.
So, we make a reservation for 2 at 7. We arrive, and are told to wait. And we wait. And we wait.
No apology. No offer to comp us a drink at the bar. Hell, not even a suggestion to have a drink at the bar.
20 minutes later, we're seated. 10 minutes later, we finally get water and a drink order taken.
No extra effort. No apology. Not even a damned acknowledgement of our wait. I would never take it out on the server, so I still left a 20%+ tip...but damn, these people need to get their stuff together.
We will never go back. We will actively tell our friends to avoid this establishment.
We should have ducked into Lure next door...
Not sure what happened to this restaurant. The salmon on my girlfriend's salad was paper thin wafer. The steak was pathetic and ordinary. The toilets were backing up. Once a gem in Ventura is now a piece coal. Very sad as this was once a favorite Needs some major corrections to restore its reputation. But for now, stay away.
We were in Ventura for business and Cafe Fiore was highly recommended. It didn't disappoint. I would have preferred a larger table for our group of 7 adults. The food - entrees, drinks and desserts were wonderful. Despite a busy week day, the service was very good.
