Food and service were great! My only complaint is that the restaurant was extremely warm.
Live jazz, delicious house Red, great food, it felt like a proper occasion!
It was pretty noisey. There were 4 of us at one of the horseshoe style tables. I could not hear what the person opposite me was saying. The waitress and busboy were excellent. The food was great. We are happy we were able to take some hone to enjoy for another dinner. We had a 6;30 reservation. We were surprised by the number of babies and toddlers that were present.
Chicken was over done. To loud for our guest that we brought.
It was terrible. This was not our first time here. We were celebrating our anniversary there as that was the restaurant we had our first date at and from the start, it took forever to have our drink order taken, then forever to get them. Once the drinks were dropped off it was a solid half hour to get the waitress back. We finally ordered appetizers and dinner and it all came out together. Then when we flagged down the manager, she took the food and said she would hold it for us in the kitchen. After we finished our appetizers, they brought our original pasta and it was Luke warm and not worth returning to the kitchen. We were over it.
Won’t be going there again.
Off night? For sure. Too bad that that is all it takes.
Great waitress/server! Made my husband’s birthday special! Gave good dessert recommendations! Perfect dessert for after lasagna. The lasagna at Cafe Fiore melts in your mouth! Wonderful meal!
The food and service was great. Especially the bread pudding.
Reservation are a hassle because they block them out so they are not available on Open Table. We thought we changed our 7:30 to 8:30. When we got there we were told the change did not go through. They seated us but recorded us as a no show and we didn’t receive our points.
First of all I'd like to thank you for soliciting my feedback. More restaurants should do this so they could improve their service and or food. I have dined at Cafe Fiore many times. And I have always enjoyed the food in fact I have talked up the food many times to family and friends. My go-to is the lasagna so I know the taste, texture and portion size very well and I have always been more than satisfied with it. But this time I have to say, you missed the mark...big time. The top layer was hard as if the pasta was stale or old, I actually had to use my knife to cut pieces of it when it usually cuts like butter with a fork. And the portion size was not as high or thick as its always been in the past. Basically it appeared to be missing some layers, it was flat so it was a much smaller portion. I always take a doggy bag out because the portion is pretty healthy and I'm never able to finish it there but I didn't have to do that this time I finished the whole thing pretty quickly because it was so small. Very disappointing because I felt as though I paid the same price for a smaller portion. I will give your restaurant another try and if I experience the same thing I will know that it is your new norm and I will no longer dine there.
A wonderful night out! Delicious food, great atmosphere, wonderful live music!
Another perfect night ! Great food; terrific service; love the personal touch of ownership
Very slow service. The waiters stood around talking to each other rather than attend to their customers. The food was terrible and took way too long. My chicken was greasy with an awful sauce on top of it. My daughter’s pasta was too heavy on the pesto with very little chicken. My other daughter had pizza, well, it was pizza. The bread was stale. The only good thing was the water boy kept our water glasses full. We needed the water to wash down the greasy , salty food. I will never go back.
The food and service was good but the restaurant was cold
Delicious food and lovely ambiance. We were here for a Father’s Day dinner and everybody loved it.
Promotion in work
This is a excellent restaurant. My wife and i consider this our favorite place to go to dinner or sunday lunch in all of ventura. food is always excellent, wait staff and support staff are all friendly and responsive.
All was good music way to loud. Difficult to talk and hear our other couple sitting with us. We were at the back of the restaurant and still way to loud. The band was good and good singer again just to loud.
It was amazing she knew it was my birthday all ready would definitely recommend
Wonderful evening for six. We sat in the private dining room and it was perfect! We were able to visit and hear everyone without difficulty. Also we could hear the live music being played out front, so it was a nice soft background ambience. The food as always was delicious. I love coming here and the food never fails to be delicious.
Excellent pasta and enjoyable restaurant that can be somewhat noisy when full. Service is usually very good, but varies somewhat. Nice atmosphere. The Specials should be considered when ordering since they are usually very good.
Terrific service, wonderful food, quality local ingredients at a reasonable price. My husband and I love this place!
We found the staff to be quite disinterested - maybe since we were there at opening time?
Exceptional and authentic Italian. No matter what you order, reliably delicious food. We're foodies, and we come for the food. Sadly, the decor is a bit shabby--and not in a chic way. The floors are cracked concrete of various nondescript colors. The tabletops are worn and there are notablecloths. The upholstery has seen better days. All of that is forgivable, but this isn't: every time we've been, the service has been brusque and perfunctory. The servers-and there are way too few of them--are in a massive hurry. They walk off whole you are mid-sentence. They sling the plates onto the tables and dash off. No one seems knowledgable about the food or wine. When asked for recommendations, our server said "We have some merlots." He also couldn't explain the difference between two pasta dishes (or maybe he was in too much of a hurry). This cafeteria-style service has been our experience for every visit. Cafe Fiore management needs more servers and to train them better. Slow down a bit. Let your customers finish their sentences. Place the plates on the table (don't drop them with a clunk). Get tablecloths. Fix the floor. High prices and great food and rushed service and shabby decor. It's exhausting. Lastly, and this is a small thing. It was our 20th anniversary. I noted it when booking. The server didnt mention it and did nothing. After eating our main dishes, we couldn't wait to get out of there and went elsewhere for coffee and dessert. A shame.
This is one of our favorite places. We always enjoy going there with friends. The food is always top notch and staff is terrific. Because of its quality it is popular and thus very busy and a bit noisy.
Wonderful food made with locally sourced ingredients
Mother's Day Brunch a must. Excellent food, ambiance and fun for children as well
Fabulous birthday dinner! Food very savory and delicious. Great service.
We will be back
It was wonderful having Easter Brunch at Cafe Fiore. The poached salmon was quite good, as was the egg sandwich. Our server was very congenial and efficient. We will definitely be back. Highly recommend.
The service and the food were both excellent. The shrimp & polenta appetizer, the lobster ravioli and the t-bone were all delicious.
The service was great, but there were a few items left wanting. The food was just okay; half step above Olive Garden. My wife and I felt that the food needed a little more flavor (pepper, salt, etc.). The coffee was 'meh' and the tiramisu looked amazing...but also had a 'meh' rating in flavor for us.
The restaurant had a live band (this was a Thursday evening) which was nice. However, it was a little difficult to hold a conversation during dinner (and we sat toward the back).
If you're in town, like we were, and looking for a drink with some live music, then this is the place. The food wasn't a big seller for us, but the service was great.
In old town Ventura, this Italian restaurants satisfies. The décor is warm and comfortable. There is live music but not so much that it competes with conversation. The menu is filled with excellent options from fish, meat, salads etc. We began with calamari/zucchini blossoms and an artichoke gratin. Mains were short ribs and tuna. All were excellent and the service was great. Worth a repeat visit.
I make the 45 minute drive to visit Cafe Fiore for special occasions just for the gnocchi, but love everything I've tried on the menu. The Gamberi with polenta is delicious as an appetizer with a mixed berry mojito. Many fall off the bone options. If I had to nitpick, sometimes service is a bit slow......but never rude. I love this place!
We were a party of 5. 3 had the Osso buco and 2 had pasta dishes. Everyone loved their meals. All of us have been here before, so we knew we were in for a great meal.
Fantastic Italian meal with great cocktails and live music.
Food was very good enjoyed the atmosphere over all very well rounded
Excellent food and service.
We came 10 minutes early and our table was surprisingly ready. Service was ok. Our attendant intermittently checked in on us. A little disappointed that spinach ran out early since we placed our order at 830pm. Ambiance was ok. It could’ve been better. There was live music and background music during breaks. I wasn’t too impressed. Considering it was vday, I would have expected the music to celebrate love. Instead it brought a somber mood to the evening.
We also had an axxess card which they wouldn’t take because vday is apparently a recognized holiday and the BOGO doesn’t apply on holidays.
Keep going back and trying it. Gets worse each time. When they first opened they were great. Now it's just an ordinary Italian restaurant. Nothing special.
