Cafe Escadrille Ratings and Reviews
When asked if we were in a hurry, we said we weren’t and our waiter was respectful. There was more than one person attending to us but I don’t think they communicated with one another. After clearing our table, none of the wait staff came back to us for over one hour. At that time, someone stopped by to drop off the check. We were never asked if we wanted coffee or dessert. At that time, we felt it was too late to order anything.
A very nice location for date night which my wife and I enjoyed. Cozy, even though the restaurant was full, with just a bit of background noise but nothing annoying. The entree portions were larger than expected and at a very good value. A very enjoyable evening. Will definitely make a return visit.
My husband and I go here all the time and love it more and more each time. We took our 3 children (ages 7,8 and 10) and they were very well behaved. The entire staff catered to our girls and treated them like royalty. Wilson was our waiter and he was fabulous!!! We plan to request him every time we go!!! But we highly recommend this place to everyone especially if you love seafood, sushi and beef.
Either the restaurant was having an “off” day, or Cafe Escadrille has gone seriously down in quality and value. This used to be a restaurant defined by delicious food and spectacular service, unfortunately, our Valentine’s Day dinner was no better than the banquet food served next door
The food was bland and unexceptional. We started with a maki roll that was messy and tasteless. Whatever spicy mayo and tobico there was supposed to be, was nowhere to be found, and the chopped fish versus sliced, was a disappointment. The delivery was unceremonious, the presentation not worthy of the price.
The French onion soup was another let down. The crouton was charred and overwhelmed the flavor of the water-thin broth that could have been anything. The gruyère cheese is an authentic ingredient that many restaurants don’t use. But the cheese in my soup “curdled” and just clumped together with the long strings of semi-cooked onions in a weak broth. Even the cheese around the base of the bowl was disappointing. Half the fun of a great French Onion soup is the pick the crispy bits of cheese off the bowl. My cheese was barely cooked.
The side salads came. I asked to substitute a Caesar for the house salad that came with my entree. A $1 upcharge would have been ok. But not $4.95 for underdressed lettuce and store bought croutons
After putting up with the idiot server who didn’t know his wines, I was insulted by the server’s comments about the sommelier leaving some wine in the bottle for them to have with a “third glass.”
I ordered the Entrecôte, my wife the baked stuffed shrimp. Both were horribly under seasoned and the potatoes were watery and likewise without flavor or character.
My wife liked the Kayla cake, I found the smaller, pineapple upside down cake to be just right. But it was swimming in more syrup than even the entrecôte, and was cloyingly sweet.
Not a good way to celebrate Valentines Day. We would not recommend this restaurant.
I LOVE Café Escadrille!! Everything from the second you walk into the restaurant is perfection. I dine here at least weekly either at the bar or in the dining room because I work right down the street. They have done renovations to their Gourmet room and it looks gorgeous! Service is flawless wherever I decide to sit. The drinks and food are delicious. The Chateaubriand and Prime Rib are to die for!!! Really high quality food. I can honestly say I have never had a bad meal here, lunch, dinner or late night. They stay open later than all the other restaurants in the area.
You really get what you pay for. When you order an entrée for dinner it comes with a side salad. I don't know many places that do that anymore. AND the entrée comes with a side, you are not getting charged another $8 for a side after paying $45 for a steak like the chain restaurants around the area. Thank you Cafe Escadrille for a perfect Valentine's day!
We went to the Cafe Escadrille for our annual Valentine’s dinner.
The food was excellent. One member of our group had the lobster bisque, another clams on the half shell, both excellent.
Three of us had the Caesar salad, again delicious.
The entrees: filet, salmon, scallops, and seafood fettuccine Alfredo were all delicious.
Our server, Brenda, was attentive, professional, gracious, and knowledgeable. She has been our choice of servers for years and will remain so.
The Escadrille is our favorite “neighborhood “ restaurant. Highly recommend it !
We had an amazing time. The food was absolutely delicious. The lobster bake was the best I ever had! My partner got the sea scallops and they were a 10!
Only bad part was I found a piece of hair baked in my bread. The waiter was very apologetic and got us a new plate of bread but still was feeling a little nauseas. I ordered a beer and we were surprised to see not even a small discount was applied! We didn't want to make a big deal but it would have been nice to get a free beer or something.
Other than that, amazing place.
As always, outstanding as usual. We had Victor & Brenda as kind of a kind of a tag team. We started with the Escargots, Hearts of Lettuce & Caprese salad. All were great. For our main we did the Chateaubriand for 2. Typically exquisite. Love the Béarnaise sauce that comes with it. The tenderloin was cooked perfectly as always. Sometime we'll have to try either a Bordelaise or perhaps Peppercorn sauce & see how that works. for dessert we split the "Ice cream Puff" Kind of like a giant Profiterole. For a Valentine dinner, Café Escadrille simply can't be beat. We'll be back probably late spring.
I thought the atmosphere was good. Service was good but the server was not fully knowledgeable about their appetizers, she order the wrong one for us. I had their signature steak and it was mediocre, definitely not worth the price tag. The scallops were fried and the dish was presented unappetizing to be honest, felt under my expectation for such a nice establishment. What I like is the entrees come with your choice of salad
A big criticism I have is the tables are too close together and the temperature of the restaurant was too cool for February. Add in we were at a window table which made it even colder. It wasn’t obvious when we were initially seated and our friends were already seated. Although at that time no others tables looked unoccupied but next time I would ask for something else.
Excellent menu (comprehensive & diverse); dishes were perfectly prepared, visually pleasing, and delicious; we both had steak entrees and they were exceptional; service was impeccable. And how delightful to have live music -- jazz to pop, perfect background regardless of occasion.
I have been going to this restaurant for years. This time I was a bit disappointed. I made reservations and I arrived early. After giving my name to the host, we were seated at the worst table in the entire restaurant. There were many open tables, so we asked to be reseated. We were then seated all the way in the back at the second worse table in the restaurant. When I questioned the host about the other tables, she informed me that they were for guests with reservations. I again reminded her that we did have reservations. Eventually, we were seated at a decent table. A couple next to us had a similar experience. I’m not sure why a restaurant would not seat people at the better tables when they have reservations and there are open tables. If making reservations, I would suggest that you specify a table.
My wife and I had a very nice dinner, celebrating her birthday. the hostess was pleasant and when we asked to be moved to a different table, she was very accommodating. Great waitress, Nichole. My food was excellent and my wife's was okay.
Went as a holiday office party asked for a table out of the way so we would not interrupt others dining. We had a great time, food was delicious , service was excellent. Our overall experience was great. Will be going here again not just for an office gathering.
The food was delicious. The waiters/waitresses were very attentive. The only suggestion I would have for someone wanting a white sangria, do not order one at this restaurant. It was terrible. No fruit and actually tasted like lemonade. It was not freshly made; probably bottled. I should of sent it back, but i didn't. That was definitely not worth what was paid for it.
Food was excellent and the piano player very good .Prices have really risen, with no entrees below $30's. Would like to see more variety in prices, schrod for $35 seems very high. This are Boston prices for good food but not off the charts chef foodie food.
