Cafe du Soleil has done a terrific job of providing a satisfying dining out experience under the circumstances. The menu offers variety and the service was excellent.
Loved the bubble tents to keep diners safe. The lights and recorded music make for a pleasant ambiance. The service is great. Loved our waiters French accent. The food was well prepared, arrived in a timely fashion and was delicious. It’s definitely a neighborhood gem
We had Sunday Brunch with 5 persons in mid-September. Service staff and Manager were very accommodating when we had some special seating requests. All were very friendly. Seating was outdoors with sufficient distance in between. The area was decorated in a fun way with colorful umbrellas and music was playing in the background. Ample dishes are offered on the menu, though hardly any vegetarian or vegan options - but the kitchen was willing to modify to accommodate special dietary requests. The food quality was average good and the mimosas were a bit flat - but overall we had a very nice experience and would certainly be back.
Took my young granddaughters for brunch on Sunday- 9 and 6. The 9 year old had the pancakes and said they were the best ever! There is not a children's menu and nothing good for the 6 year old on the menu but they were very accommodating by using "sides" to generate a sort of grilled cheese! And very attentive to the little girls- which they loved!
It’s my favorite neighborhood cafe, they have amazing authentic French food and great drinks. Service is friendly and prices are pretty low for Manhattan. Perfect spot for brunch!
As always, excellent in every category. My wife and I love it!
Thank you guys for the terrific and attractive outdoor set up, and for the lovely food and drink! You showed excellent ability to meet the demands of Covid-19 and to keep our neighborhood happy. It was a taste of Paris, albeit local.
Good local French food, fast in delivering food but service was a bit leisurely. Other times service has been great and generous.
Other than there being no warm, friendly welcome by either the host or the servers, the food was delicious.
In a time of difficulty fir restaurants in NYC due to covid, Cafe du Soleil is making the most of it. Safely spaced tables, lovely plants and flowers and nice classic french bistro food. Get there before the days grow cold.
Our go to French restaurant. We would never go anywhere else!
It is a very pretty restaurant and they have really gone all out with the outside decor. Also, our table was away from everyone and we felt very safe.
Great neighborhood place. Really good food. Attentive staff.
Cafe du Soleil has shown innovation in its approach to the constraints on dining out during the pandemic. Where previously they had a small number of outdoor tables, they have greatly expanded their seating, having negotiated with adjacent stores to expand up and down the block and out into the parking lane on the street. With spft jazz playing over their sound system, and lights strung up above the tables, plus umbrellas and awnings strategically placed, their total seating approaches what they used to have inside and they are offering almost everything on their traditional menu. On a nice summer's evening, the ambiance is excellent, as is the service. We have been there twice since their outdoor dining opened up, the second time for a special anniversary dinner. No other restaurant in this part of the UWS has shown the same marketing skills for bringing in diners for outside seating. The prices are a bit steep, but we felt we got our money's worth. Highly recommended.
I hadn't been there for about six months because the quality of the food had been steadily deteriorating. It has now reached bottom. The vichyssoise was as dead as if it had been frozen since last year; it actually had bits of ice floating in it. I asked for gazpacho instead and it was just as bad. The chicken in the cobb salad was too tough to eat. The service was unprofessional. I didn't recognize anyone there and assume the place must be under different management.
They sat me at a table, gave me a menu and a glass of water and ignored me for 20 minutes despite my polite attempts to flag down a waiter. Also they are using plastic coated menus and are not disinfecting them between uses. Mine had food all over the side. I finally gave up and went to Serafina 105 and had a delightful meal.
Consistent service, good french food and great drinks.
Great place: delicious food, great service, real French atmosphere. We keep on coming back.
It was a festive Friday night before the heat wave took hold. Service was swift and friendly. The rose wine was good, the lamb shank good not great, the ratatouille sensational, surprisingly so because very little tomato in it but the peppers and eggplant and squash first-rate. Only the couscous was a little dry. My chocolate mousse lived up to my very high expectations.
I made a reservation for 3, including an elderly lady, at 4:00p - a time I figured would be uncrowded. Only outside seating was available, of course, due to Covid-19. Everything was handled beautifully with respect to pandemic public safety protocol. The food was delicious. A 4th person who had been reluctant to commit to the outing came by to say hello and decided to stay and eat with us because he felt secure in the restaurant's careful arrangement of seats and their inviting decorative ambience. Hats off and thanks to all who made this experience a pleasure in the midst of such difficult times.
Very nice dining outside experience. Their Bastille day celebration was very nice and had a great menu. Service was a little slow given it was crowded but we weren't in a rush anyway - the staff supplying bread and water were all over it! Would go back - in the current dining outside environment they really went above and beyond with the flowers and decorations - very nice evening.
great pandemic outdoor dining .... recommend anyone who wishes to feel like their in france for a bit!
A great brunch, outside was well set up
I enjoyed sitting outside, comfortably. The food was good and the ambiance was cheery & easy going. Food was good, as I expected.
They have expanded their outside space to accomodate social distancing and it works very well. Great food and service as always.
They were so great to have all our leftover food wrapped to go so that we could get home in time to see the fireworks. The food and service was excellent.
This was our first restaurant visit since the beginning of the Covid 19 outbreak. It was wonderful to get out and to sit outdoors in a safe, comfortable setting. I hesitate to complain about the food , given the challenges the restaurant must be facing. That said, we have had better experiences at Cafe Du Soleil before and wouldn't be surprised if kitchen staffing issues and Covid adjustments are making things tough for management. Our party of three ordered two burgers, Moules Frites, two glasses of house wine and a draft beer. The burgers were supposed to be medium and medium rare. Both were very well done...one being nearly incinerated. Both the pinot noir and the house sauvignon blanc were unacceptable. The mussels, however, were wonderful, the IPA great, and our server was great as well! We will come back for the moules frites special and the service, and we wish the restaurant and staff continued success and good health.
Always have the best time here, Food is fantastic and the people are lovely. Thank you
Food is really excellent here and everyone is really friendly. Service was a little slow but festive atmosphere and good food made up for that!
Nice atmosphere and good service. Food was pretty good but nothing outstanding. Hard to hear a conversation though as it's very loud in there. Service was very attentive and they took care of us very well as a party of 6. I would go back.
Devine local gem, love it! And they even have a few organic and vegetarian options for folks like me. :)
Nice vibe. Good music friendly staff. Loved that they were all French. Very authentic. Tasty good quality food
It was hard to hear everyone at my table. Perhaps there was a fan or something near the table, but there was quite a lot of grey noise.
Loved the mussels, loved the service, a fun night out.
A neighborhood gem. Service is attentive and the food is authentic and delicious, but not fussy.
It had amazing service , I didn’t have to wait for a table. The table was a little small n I didn’t have enough space from other customers. But the food was amazing , just a little to pricey for the small portion of food we got . Overall it is a great place , I went on Valentine’s Day.
Had the Valentine’s Day menu. Unlike a lot of other places, this menu had many choices. I had the salmon which was great, and my wife had the filet mingon, which she raved about. Great French bistro atmosphere.
This is a nice solid bistro - clearly a popular neighborhood spot but the waitstaff doesn't ignore newcomers. It was a little loud but it was fun and delicious.
This was Sunday brunch. Service was a bit slow, both in the first contact and throughout the meal. I have dined here many many times and this time it was a bit off.
My burger, order medium rare, arrived medium well. It was reordered and corrected. Fried that were taken back with the burger came back cold.
I have always liked dining here. I hope this was just a one off fluke.
