Gem in the neighborhood!
Fun atmosphere. Friendly staff. Great food!
Great place for relaxing brunch on beautiful day!
a wonderful neighborhood place with great moules frites - but the much too loud music is a real negative. sitting outdoors and could barely hear my dinner companion across the small table.
The worst! They messed up my order twice before getting it right on the third try. A ham and spinach omelette. Not rocket science. The ham looked like it came straight out of a meat grinder. Just long strands piled into the omelette. Unappetizing to say the least. I was surprised because I ate there a lot over the summer and had good Cobb salads. The omelette was a disaster.
Always Awesome in every way!! Best menu, service and ambiance.
Love Cafe du Soleil but their music needs to be revamped. It is a bistro not a dance club and the music is not only too loud but inappropriate. This is a neighborhood gem attended by many older couples and to strain to be heard over the music is ridiculous. How about some Edith Piaf?
Service can be slow, esp. after just sitting down...we got water right away, and then waited too long before a server came by to check in us and take a drink order.
I love eating at Cafe Du Soleil and it was better than ever! The food and service are just lovely as is their outdoor seating arrangement. I had a burger there for the first time and it was amazing! You must try one. It was huge and juicy and cooked just the way I ordered it. I think that might be my new favorite there. Yum!
A great place for a meal and conversation in the neighborhood.
One of my favorite places in the neighborhood a great standby and lots of fun
This is truly a gem on the Upper Upper West Side. Great food and great ambiance.
We eat here about once a month, and this visit confirmed we should stick with the traditional dishes: mussels, short ribs (or beef bourginon in season) are the best, most reliable. However the avocado and seafood starter is just awful - on 2 occasions - there are many bits of crab shell, some sharp. Nobody tastes the avocados and often they are utterly tasteless and unripe. This time we shared profiteroles - maybe to save time, they've started putting ice cream in one big dough pastry with Hershey's syrup. We love this place, and you should too. The atmosphere is great, often the music is good, too. But just be careful what you order.
Cafe du Soleil, I hope you're listening - quality matters. And BTW, several of your customers of past won't patronize you because they want frites with their steaks. I agree! It's kind of embarrassing to have guests receive a steak-on-a-plate - naked.
Thanks Cafe du Soleil for all the good stuff you do. But please pay attention to the details.
We sat outside and had a lovely evening. Even though there was only one waiter for our area, we had good service and great food.
I hesitate to review this restaurant as I don't want it to become so popular that I can't get a reservation but they deserve good business, so....THIS PLACE IS GREAT. Absolutely wonderful food, an extensive menu, and top-notch drink offers as well. Great service though sometimes you have to wait a bit for your entree, but it's worth the wait- trust me. This place blows some neighboring French places in the same neighborhood away in terms of VALUE, like the horrible Marlowe on 111th and Amsterdam, and the very mediocre Le Monde. I've had a ton of things on the menu, so here are my faves: any of the mussel dishes, swordfish, salmon, striped bass, steaks, coq au vin, any of the salads, the GAZPACHO is amazing, as is the cold potato soup; the homemade pate is great- both the duck and and salmon. Great cocktail menu- Gin passionfruit martini is a fave- and fantastic wine selection. Really, I could go on all day but I have chores...staff all seem to know what they are doing. Good service. Lively atmosphere- sidewalk dining with eclectic music like jazz or fusion playing. We go here just about weekly so I guess we are regulars now. Very fair prices for what you get. Love you, Soleil! Don't very change!!
Awesome dinner at Cafe Du Soleil. My salad, fish and dessert were all delicious. The service was outstanding and the prices most reasonable. One of the best dining options in the neighborhood.
They definitely have the best salmon burger of anywhere on the UWS. I've been going here since it open and was extremely disappointed with the service last night. I'm going to be very forgiving because their capacity has expanded tremendously with the outdoor space - which is great, but there didn't seem to be enough staff. I know that is a problem city wide and I'm going to assume that's the reason.
Service not great. Better for brunch than dinner
Our waitperson Ariella was excellent! Kudos to her!
Lovely lunch. Wonderful menu with hard to decide everything sounds great choices! Husband had a beautiful cold pea soup with mint and honey marscapone. Friise salad and shrimp and avacado plate. Just a wonderful vibe.
I’ve not been here for several years but am looking forward to returning.
So many delectable things to choose from.
Please give it a try!
First time trying this restaurant. Went for a special birthday brunch and it lived up to our expectations. Food selection was great. I had a poached salmon salad which was delicious. My friends had pancakes and French toast. Both were also delicious and very attractively prepared. A little pricey but felt like it was worth it. We plan to go back again for dinner sometime soon. Also felt authentically French, like many Parisian restaurants I've eaten in. One other note: Felt very safe COVID-wise. Good spacing on tables and well-appointed outside space.
Birthday. It was nice.
Comfort food with French flair. Do you really need more?
Food was yummy and the wait staff was attentive but not intrusive. My husband ordered s burger and it was cooked too much. He didn’t say anything so I don’t know how they address complaints.
Great place for a Sunday brunch with family and friends.
C’était très bon!
Deafening thumping music, and shoulder shrugging service. Some of our group got what they wanted, others not so much. My own burger, ordered medium rare, arrived well-done and luke warm. Garlic fries looked like McDonald’s shoestrings, with a lone roasted clove of garlic sitting atop. Hmph. Others in our party ordered fish dishes that looked really good (after the long wait). My spouse’s asparagus mushroom fetttucine was missing the asparagus. No explanation offered for any of this. “We’re busy.” Oh.
Our server was very good,. However, there were long waits for almost everything except drinks. Would I go back yes because I live in the neighborhood.
My swordfish was cooked to perfection.
Waiter was attentive. Atmosphere, festive French.
Another very enjoyable evening at Cafe du Soleil.
The food was great. Would definitely come back.
I booked the table because the restaurant advertised a special evening to celebrate the occasion.
It was AWFUL,
The noise of ‘music” was horrendous.there was no indication other than some decorations, that it was a FRENCH HOLIDAY!
We were 7 for dinner. The table was uncomfortable, the room was hot, the service was poor.
We had to ask for our drink order to be taken, we asked repeatedly for bread!
For the most part the food was good with one exception. The Frogs Legs had to be sent back…it was some sort of horrid stew. A steak was ordered instead.
One person was not served and waited so long they cancelled their order.
The replacement steak took almost 20 minutes to be served!
The Asparagus vichyssoise was too salty and too peppery.
We were offered complimentary desserts. One person ordered something and was served something else.he was told they were out of what he ordered so “Here”!
The Profitteroles were soggy.
We did not bother with coffee.
We will NEVER return.
I have seen the service decline over time. Due to the fact that the neighborhood kept them going during the Pandemic ( including us) making sure everything was excellent should have been the priority!
Recommended for being one of the first during Covid to create a lovely, festive outdoor setting -- first with heated "bubbles," later with a magnificent "shed."
Staff was very attentive and super friendly. The ambiance was really energetic. Food was amazing.
We waited an unusual long time for our food. When we asked the waiter he was very casual and relaxed about it and didn’t seem to care. The food arrived cold. My husband got the croque monsieur and it was hard like cardboard. My daughter’s french fries were hard and cold. Very disappointed. We had gone in the past and it was a nice neighborhood restaurant. I hope it was just a one time off....but not sure I will want to experience again.
The food was good but the service was poor. We got what we asked for but it took a long time for a server to come. Maybe there are too few for the place. The ambience was ok.
As always, excellent food, service and ambiance. We celebrated my wife’s birthday and everything was perfect. One of our favorite restaurants in the city.
Nice afternoon with dear friends.
The service was amazing, the severe we had went above and beyond to make us feel at home. We ordered some cocktails that we did not like and he changed them without no issues. The was good, we got some recommendations from the server. We spent a lovely afternoon. Would definitely go back.
Our fourth visit - delayed by a very long and tough year, but absolutely worth it, and great to be back! Des viandes et vins magnifique!
a neighborhood favorite, good food, friendly staff who recognise me -- a good experience.
Good chef this evening. The half baked organic chicken was cooked to perfection.
The aragula goat cheese salad was accompanied by a delicate vinagrette.
