My only concern is that the bubbles have a limited time of 1 hour to eat there. We were in a rush. But everything is ok.
Excellent service at a French bistro. Authentic food and ambiance is nice for any occasion
I waited for 1:30 mins de food never arrived, I had to leave because I had to visit my grandma and couldn’t wait anymore for the food
I was late 14 minutes and they canceled my reservation but I was able to sit indoor dining I wanted to sit outdoor and then they brought my eggs wrong and they took so long to bring the food out and then I ordered latte and they brought 2nd time and I said I didn’t order but I can take it and they charged me. And the table doesn’t set up with utensil and I ordered the French fries it never Came out, the portion of food is really small. and lastly O finished my food and I went to a bathroom and I saw my waiter came out and I went in, There was no hand soap I had to ask to bring it back. I am saying that means the waiter didn’t wash hands and serving food ??? Especially this time ??? I would never go back
A wonderful outdoor brunch on a sunny fall afternoon. The food is excellent. They are creatively addressing the Covid crisis by means of "bubbles"; clear tent-like structures that are sanitized after every use. They have become so popular that the friendly, efficient staff is occasionaly rushed. Do get there and enjoy the experience before winter sets in.
I appreciated the extra precautions taken for these times of Covid that we're in, and I felt very comfortable with the way the restaurant was set up. Service was absolutely perfect and the food was delicious.
Excellent service food and cleanliness . I love the Bubble . It was roomy and clean
Thank you so much for accommodating us we were hosting a family member from out of town it was a lot of fun and we were even able to be seated early!
Service was terrible. Over 45min to get food and never once an apology. Then the server had the gall to tell us they were closing soon and we needed to decide on dessert then. Mind you we had literally just finally gotten our food.
Great experience in the covid era! Server was attentive and food was delicious. Only negative was that our food took probably 45 minutes which seemed a little excessive since tables around us turned a few times. We also were done eating and finished our wine and had to ask for the check which seemed weird, they usually bring it after you're all done eating and drinking.
Short rib was delicious and a good portion size. Fettuccine was great as well. I would definitely come back and try something new since there were several things that looked yummy!
Also love the bubbles for dining. Creative and sanitary!
We are thankful that Cafe du Soleil has gotten so creative in their quest to stay open and serve their neighborhood. We had a "space pod" on the sidewalk. Strange, but as safe as one might hope for. The service and food were both very good. Hangar steak was tender and done as asked. Calves liver was delicious. Cassoulet was tasty, but the beans were not quite done. Pre pandemic this was a frequent stop. It still worth the effort and money.
The chef doesn’t know how to cook a steak properly. My boyfriend and I order the ribeye cooked medium and medium rare... it came out well done and the server argued with us before taking it back and returning with a completely rare steak. We ended up just taking it to go and cooking it at home. It’s safe to say I won’t be returning, especially after being treated so rudely. Don’t believe the hype.
They always do a very nice job, and their efforts during this pandemic are appreciated.
Wonderful French food. And they are trying so hard to keep the French experience alive even in this pandemic.
The service is good. They had us dine in an outdoor igloo-like tent that was quite comfortable and safe.
It's one of our favorite places. They brought me the wrong meal but it was wonderful anyway so I ate it without complaint. We've never had a bad time or a bad meal here!
Excellent. Highly recommend, can’t wait to go back and have a second helping of moules frites.
Really amazing food. We sat inside, distanced from other diners by more than 10 feet. We were very comfortable, and the ambience was great.
Service horrible, after sitting over 30min and no one ask as what we would like to order we left.
We really enjoyed dining out and inside the bubble. Hostess was very accommodating and nice. Our server and busboys were very attentive. Food was great. We have a very enjoyable evening. Looking forward to go there again soon.
We wanted to eat in one of their bubbles to celebrate a birthday. They don't usually allow 2 people to eat in a bubble, but they were gracious and said it would be ok if we could be done in one hour. No problem. Service was warm and excellent and the food was great. We'll be back.
Amazing food, excellent service, and incredible ambiance and atmosphere. Will definitely be coming again!
The clear plastic "igloos" make outdoor dining pleasurable. The French bistro fare is consistently good and authentic, as always - especially the mousse!
Cafe du Soleil is one of the lovliest places to visit: Civilized and welcoming, and professional but not formal.
Cafe du Soleil is everything you want in a neighborhood bistro. Always an interesting crowd. Welcoming service. French comfort food. Lots of wine.
Love the experience there! Staffs are friendly and attentive.
Perfect date night spot! Both the food and service were excellent. The bubble dining was a cool feature. I will definitely be back!
I had a reservation for a space bubble but when I got to the restaurant I was told that I couldn't have it because other people were in them. However, when I sat down at a regular table outside, I overheard 2 women asking for a space bubble and the guy said you can only have one if you make a reservation. In my head I was thinking, "I had a reservation so why didn't I receive one?" Additionally, multiple times throughout sitting at my table I saw different people getting a space bubble. I'm not sure why I was the only one that was turned away from this experience, especially because I had a reservation for it, but it was extremely unfair.
This was my first al fresco dining experience in Manhattan since COVID-19 struck the city. It was not great. Our server was surly at best, our meals were all cold and the conditions did not feel safe. First we sat for 20 minutes before anyone took our drink order. Then the entrees we ordered were not in stock. The food, when it finally arrived was cold. I would not recommend this venue for anything. Such a shame to wait all this time for bad food AND poor service. With so many restaurants struggling, I expected more.
The mussels were good and the salad was ok. The Cosmopolitan was awful—made with a sour mix instead of fresh lime juice as requested. The bubbles are fun and cozy.
We were hoping to try out the “bubble” outdoor seating (plastic pods), but they are only for parties larger than us two the weather was beautiful, so we enjoyed e festive feeling at a smaller table for two. Twinkly lights, bustling waiters, happy outdoor diners with masks off while eating, wonderful food, great service. Lovely experience!
We made the reservation to get a bubble. When we arrived we were told we could not have one because we were a party of two. So we sat in the street and heard cars whizzing by at 40 miles an hour. There was no lighting and the waiter barely came.
Best moules frites in NYC! And the entire menu is stellar, high quality ingredients and preparation. Portions are generous. And desserts, especially the chocolate mousse, are special. Friendly and professional staff are wonderful and they are handling our current situation well with tables spaced far enough apart and they have plastic "pods" for groups. Cafe du Soleil is a gem in this neighborhood. I've been a regular for a few years and happy and hopeful for them. Highly recommended.
Took my son for his Birthday- he loved the novelty of the individual bubbles 💙 Staff were lovely- especially my server Doug !!! Would definitely recommend & can’t wait to go back ❤️💙
It was our first time there. The first 3 people of our party of 7 arrived and they sat us down anyway. Usually most places do not sit you unless your entire party is there. Our waiter, Jerry aka Jerrick was very courteous, polite and patient with us ans so was the manager (sorry can’t remember his name but he was the guy that sat us down when we arrived). The food was pretty good and the value and prices were very good as well. You should definitely try the margarita Soleil they offer, it’s delish! It was our first time there but it certainly will not be our last one. We were there for brunch and will return for dinner. Oh and I must mention the cute bubbles they sit you in for social distancing, definitely good for pics!
There are plenty of nice tables, several in bubbles to allow for social distancing - however, we were sat off in a corner that must have had garbage or something nearby because the flies were unbelievable. This was worse than being seated next to the bathroom. I took one sip of my mimosa before two flies started drowning in my drink. We had to put our napkins over our coffee with our phones on top to save our drinks but unfortunately there was nothing we could do to keep the flies off our food. It was very disgusting. There were other open tables that seemed fine and were not experiencing this problem. When I told the waiter, he asked me what I would like to do...I was shocked he turned it on me to fix the problem. So I asked for the check and told him I would like to leave so I could go have breakfast since both my boyfriend and I were still hungry. The manager came over and apologized but said it’s “part of outdoor dining.” We’ve been eating outdoors at restaurants for months and I’ve never had this problem. They didn’t take anything off the bill (I would have at least expected the mimosa since it was clearly a pool of bugs). The attitude that this was our problem is the reason I’ll never go back. If they had offered to move us to a new table or taken a small amount off the check would have appeased me. Instead I paid almost $70 and my boyfriend and I then went and bought more food. It was such a waste for what was a mediocre meal.
Food was wonderful, but the food time was not great. Service was also just okay. It took like 15-mins to get a menu and another 45-min for our food to come out. Then we were told that seating in the globe was limited to 1-hour. Once we received our food, they rushed us out. Really sad because they good was delicious.
Such a cute place! A bit pricer but the food is good and sitting in the bubble is so fun!! Will def be back.
I thought the bubble idea was great as it blocked the wind and cut down somewhat on the noise. Staff was pleasant and accommodating but the hamburger I ordered was not medium rare but well done. I sent it back and waited a long time for it’s return and it still wasn’t cooked medium rare. Then they forgot the fries.
But overall, I would return and try again.
Horrible restaurant, and would never come back. The service was terrible. Decided to eat here because of the individual bubble pods they set up, and although there were empty bubbles, we were not able to be seated there and were offered no explanation by manager. However the website stated "first come first served". The service was terrible also, we only saw out waiter once when he took our order and then at the end when we got our check. No one asked how our food was and no one came buy to ask us if we needed anything else. I had an empty glass of wine sitting on the table for my entire meal. The food was mediocre and bland. Not worth the price. Overall, very poor experience. These bubble pods are just a gimmick to attract people, if not for them the restaurant would be empty.
Great! Bubbles are just as cute as they look on Insta! Great vibe, delicious food.
