Food is really excellent here and everyone is really friendly. Service was a little slow but festive atmosphere and good food made up for that!
Nice atmosphere and good service. Food was pretty good but nothing outstanding. Hard to hear a conversation though as it's very loud in there. Service was very attentive and they took care of us very well as a party of 6. I would go back.
Devine local gem, love it! And they even have a few organic and vegetarian options for folks like me. :)
Nice vibe. Good music friendly staff. Loved that they were all French. Very authentic. Tasty good quality food
It was hard to hear everyone at my table. Perhaps there was a fan or something near the table, but there was quite a lot of grey noise.
Loved the mussels, loved the service, a fun night out.
A neighborhood gem. Service is attentive and the food is authentic and delicious, but not fussy.
It had amazing service , I didn’t have to wait for a table. The table was a little small n I didn’t have enough space from other customers. But the food was amazing , just a little to pricey for the small portion of food we got . Overall it is a great place , I went on Valentine’s Day.
Had the Valentine’s Day menu. Unlike a lot of other places, this menu had many choices. I had the salmon which was great, and my wife had the filet mingon, which she raved about. Great French bistro atmosphere.
This is a nice solid bistro - clearly a popular neighborhood spot but the waitstaff doesn't ignore newcomers. It was a little loud but it was fun and delicious.
This was Sunday brunch. Service was a bit slow, both in the first contact and throughout the meal. I have dined here many many times and this time it was a bit off.
My burger, order medium rare, arrived medium well. It was reordered and corrected. Fried that were taken back with the burger came back cold.
I have always liked dining here. I hope this was just a one off fluke.
Wonderful small UWS bistro with the type of French food one enjoys in Paris. The host is French, the bread is fresh, the specials are delicious. Who doesn't love mussels and les frites?
Generally reliable neighborhood place: friendly and competent service, comfortable-casual bistro, relaxed atmosphere. I've found the food here inconsistent. The mussels I ordered this time were small and not plump and juicy, though the arrabbiata sauce was good. The ratatouille, which I ordered as an appetizer, was undercooked and flavorless. The pommes frites were excellent.
Very nice restaurant but weekends and evenings not the time to go if you want a relaxed meal where you can talk with your friend. The noise from people screaming at each other so they can hear each other is not what I enjoy. The tables are very close to one another and not everyone is considerate so you get swapped with coats as your neighbor takes it off. The person in charge of seating the guests was very accommodating and gracious, and so was the waiter.
A great neighborhood spot, traditional French cafe selection
This is a gem of the neighborhood. The food is consistently excellent at both lunch and dinner. The Thursday special 3 course dinner with a bottle of wine is an incredible value. While I only have to go downstairs to enjoy this delightful French bistro, it is worth a trip from midtown.
The restaurant wasn’t very full but still very loud. We were seated between two tables when there was an entire bank of empty tables. The service was inattentive. Waiters were busy watching the football game. The food was okay. The hamburger was better than the fettuccine (drowned in sauce!). I’ve eaten here before many times and tonight was very disappointing.
Paris Brasserie on UWS. With a Lyonnaise twist. Very good, very authentic food. Weak wine list. Somewhat friendly service (very French). A true neighborhood gem.
Friend had beouf bourgignon and said it was good. Partner had rigatoni with veal sausage and said it was good. Mussels appetizer was very good. My bouillabaisse was just ok, the two very large shrimp (with heads on) were overcooked. The clams and mussels I think had also been steamed too long. Fortunately, the scallops were perfect. The portion was small and the broth was salty. It was Friday night between Xmas and New Years, which might explain why there were several empty tables. Service was fine. Maybe best cooks were on vacation. Ambiance was nice. Overall adequate experience.
The lunch special of a half sandwich and a bowl of soup was a bargain at $14, especially given the quality of the bread the sandwich was made with.
It was much more expensive than the dinner I had at Tavern on the Green the next night. The food was good not great. It was prefixe and I arrived at 7 pm, they were already out of two options. The service was friendly and helpful but a bit slow. They accidentally gave me the bill for the party before mine so had I not been paying close attention I would've been paying twice my bill.
We were there on Christmas night and ordered off of the pre-fix menu. There was a great selection and the price was VERY reasonable! The food was VERY food! If you love rich French food you will love this place. For my entree i had the filet. It was seasoned and cooked PERFECTLY! WE LOVED IT SO MUCH, that on our way out we made reservations for the New year's day brunch!
Lovely Christmas Day afternoon dinner with friends. Many delicious choices on the menu.
Christmas dinner prix fixe was disappointing and very expensive for what was served.
I had the liver, which you rarely find on NYC restaurant menus. It was very good. Excellent sauce.
It took an hour to be served in a half full restaurant when we had a reservation on Christmas eve afternoon. There were only three tables seated when we arrived ten minutes early. We were seated and drink orders were taken and starters ordered. A few minutes later we placed our meal order. The restaurant filled, everyone else was served their food, people ate and left and there we sat. Nobody came to check on us or offer an explanation. We finally decided to leave after waiting an hour then magically, the food appeared. One order was cold, one was wrong and one was overdone. We were told that the "food was on its way, the kitchen was short staffed and the health department made an inspection". The only compensation we were offered was a free dessert!!! The place got good reviews....REALLY? Not an auspicious start to our holiday.
Neighborhood gem that never disappoints! Great service, excellent brunch choices. Delicious food.
The brunch is quite tasty. The service can be slow and the tables close together, but all in all a pleasant experience.
Cafe du Soleil is our neighborhood restaurant and bistro. It is so nice to have a great restaurant only a short walk away, but it is worth traveling to.
Great food. A little taste of France.
Classic French bistro in all respects. Food good and characteristic of the genre. Service was a bit slow, but good.
Good French food. Noisy. Neighborhood place. Reservations needed at night
Love this place! Food is always great, whether the croque monsieur at lunch or a full dinner. My friend had the veal stew and I had the pasta and both were delicious. Fun atmosphere in this French cafe.fixed price menu is very reasonable. Attentive service. One suggestion: a more extensive French wine list.
Great neighborhood spot with a variety of french inspired enticements. Good for lunch. brunch, breakfast and Dinner. Thursday night special dinnber for two with a bottle of wine $79 is a bargain.
We live in the neighborhood, very consistent quality and inviting atmosphere. Keep up the good work!
Only wish is that acoustics were improved. Super noisy everywhere & even when only 1/2 full.
Perfect spot for a rainy October afternoon. Very convivial- if a bit noisy.
