   Waited 1 hour before food arrived but only one of the two meals arrived. Had to wait an additional 15 minutes before getting the other meal. We were surprised as they were not that busy. Ordered the veggie eggs Benedict and it was mainly a mound of tomatoes and onions. They should pay attention when cleaning cast iron skillets. Hash browns had a cast iron burn taste. We were not the only ones to complain about this. We heard others complaining as well.

   The food was good and came out hot. Speaking of hot it was a rainy day so we sat on the outdoor covered patio and almost died it was so hot. We asked the waiter if it could be turned down which it was for a short period of time and then came back on a blazing so we ended up leaving earlier than we would have liked. Maybe we will sit inside next time! Other than that the food was good but I am guessing they are short staffed.

   We were there for a business lunch and were seated upstairs. It was quiet, just our group, so we were able communicate easily. The food was good and the service was great!

   Spanish omelette was drowned in tomatoes which also made the toast soggy. The hash browns were served as a rectangular deck of cards burned, flipped and charred again. Their flavor was non-existent. Hollandaise sauce on the Eggs Benedict was very plain. The two tables and bar that sit right next to the kitchen are used seemingly for the staff’s convenience as their were a bunch of open tables upstairs with a much better ambiance. Pros: side of bacon. Also, we were out of there in 40 minutes.

   A comfort food kind of place. I would recommend it, if you are not a major foodie. I wish the food was in hotter temperature; flavor and tastes were nice, but I don't like my freshly cooked food to be room temp.

    Had the Niçoise salad twice and it’s quite good. I appreciate such an unusual lunch menu item. Just tried the lemon French toast last time and it was delicious.

    Delicious food! I had the pepper steak & my mom had the salmon. Both dishes were outstanding & beautifully plated. I had two glasses of wine which were great as well. Definitely recommend this restaurant & look forward to eating there again very soon.

    Had some staff call in sick so rest of team had to cover and work harder. Need additional heaters outside especially when not specifying it’s outside. It was cold and we wanted to leave due to the table next to us talking really loud and then they had a long conversation across the deck with another table near us. We stayed although long delay in getting food. Food was good and nice presentation.

    From the outside, it doesn't look like much. Inside, maybe even less so. But great service, even better food! We had the lemon curd-filled French toast and it was outstanding. Coffee was only ok, but the French toast made up for any minor things. We will be back and meet our daughter and son-in-law there.

    Very disappointing experience. Perhaps positive reviews were for the breakfast menu because the 4-course dinner was downright terrible. Very little "French" in this restaurant, other than a bunch of Effiel tower pictures and statues. 4 courses: lentil soup(really nothing to talk about there), just a soup, Belgian salad was a joke, neither of us could finish it because it was just a half of sliced apple served with brutally chopped onions and some pomegranate seeds and hazelnuts, this salad was the laziest salad one could make, and it didn't even taste good. For the main courses we chose the rack of lamb and the duck in orange sauce, both came with sides and neither was good. If the side of rice or mashed potatoes can not be made well then the meat was already set for failure, duck was tasting very much like a duck(big no-no), and lamb we just left there because it had no seasoning to it and it tasted like it was half boiled. I was really hoping they could recover with deserts but what could I have expected from a half-green strawberry dipped in basic chocolate, it came from the fridge and gave a feeling of a store-bought product placed on our table. All that with 3 glasses of wine came to a whopping $208 + the tip for 2 people and resulted in the worst dining experience we have had. Summary: a very pretentious restaurant that made Valentine's dinner experience taste something like a Christmas party at the retirement home.

    We came for the Valentine's prix fixe meal, and it was our first time here. We were both pleasantly surprised on how tasty each course was, and enjoyed the friendly service. The steak with peppercorn sauce was perfectly cooked, as was the lamb. Very nice menu, was not to heavy and the server did a good job making space between courses so we could enjoy conversation.     I went with friends for brunch, we had a reservation and they sat us immediately. The cafe is small and cute. The service is friendly, the menu has a good variety. There is a pretty good wait for your food so go with friends and you won’t notice as you chat. The food was delicious!!’ Really delicious!! I’ll be back.

    We’ve often come here for the famous French toast and decided to go for dinner to celebrate my friend’s birthday. We were not disappointed everything was delicious. My scallops were cooked perfectly and my friend’s chicken meal came out just right. Lovely little jewel serving very tasty food.

    It was a cold, windy day, and they seated us outside with a fence around us that had gaping holes where the wind was coming through. It was cold! We asked to be moved somewhere warmer and or able to be moved after 20 minutes wait.

    Really delicious food and good overall experience, eating inside was an interesting experience being able to see everyone interact and cook! We did seem to be forgotten to for our plates to be cleared as we waited a rather long time for that as well as for our check, this could have been a one off experience as it was New Years Eve.

    Hidden gem everyone needs to frequent. Somewhat dated furniture inside makes it all the more quaint and homestyle. The menu has something for everyone; the service is without doubt the reason for many happy returns. I've sampled breakfasts and many dinners and have never walked away hungry. Enjoy old fashioned service with a smile (from folks who genuinely seem to love their job for a change), and a varied menu; you will need to try everything once.

    We arrived in Portland needing an early dinner before meeting family. Ate in a heated enclosed patio. Food was very good and met our expectations. Would not rate it as extra special as for a fancy night out, but it was quite good.

    Delicious food, good service and a lovely heated patio. We’ve mostly gone for the French toast at breakfast - which is superb. This time we went for lunch and enjoyed the French onion soup. Even on a very cold day the covered heated patio was a cozy spot for meeting up with friends.

    Very old place, nice enough. Really like that you can make reservations. Very interesting menu and would recommend you get something unique. I had a ham and cheese omelette and it wasn't good at all - made with deli ham and asiago (why? Totally overpowered all the other flavors) and the sides were meh. Although my partner had salmon Benedict and it was actually a full filet, not just lox. Hollandaise is good, which is critical. A lot better than standing in line for an hour or more for a table.

    They’ve updated the menu and added some delicious choices. The braised oxtail was stellar and, as always, the pepper steak was amazing. The server made a great wine recommendation and was attentive without being intrusive. All in all, it was a lovely dinner!

    While known for breakfast and brunch, dinner is a culinary experience. Cafe du Berry is a Portland gem! The locally featured wines and good price points, plus the carefully crafted, and French influenced cuisine are all amazing. We enjoyed escargot, mushroom toast and radicchio Caesar salad along with Oxtail and NY Steaks. The outside space is a warm and cozy atmosphere. Our server was attentive and professional.     Honestly, the benedict tasted quite poor, hollandaise tasted like mayo, it was very expensive for what it was. The french toast was ok, but only because it had a fair bit of sugar in it. Reservations, but for what? Had get up and ask to get ketchup for hash browns, jam for toast, and maple syrup for french toast...that's pretty standard...
