The food at Cafe Du Berry is scrumptious and the portions are plentiful. We had brunch. I devoured the delicious French Toast and my husband ate a ham & cheese omelet. We look forward to trying the dinner menu.

French onion soup was great. The rack of lamb, steak and salmon were all cooked perfectly.

The noise level due to traffic on Macadam Ave was very high. Otherwise, food was good and service was very good.

Our waiter wasn’t attentive unfortunately. And seemed put out when we asked for syrup or extra cheese, for example. The atmosphere was disappointing as well. We love a PDX classic. and Cafe DuBerry’s has always been a family favorite, for generations. But it’s in shambles. We’d love to see a facelift, even a small one would make a big difference.

Sorry to post a bad review. Cafe du Berry was once wonderful, and very popular; I have not been for years, and was shocked on a recent Sat morning. It has deteriorated badly; the place is run down, understaffed with the furnishings and finishes in disrepair, and the food barely diner quality. Even the hashbrowns were unrecognizable. Frankly we left feeling a little slimy; explains why it was so empty. Lots of room for improvement!

There is no place in Portland that has better food or a more attentive, friendly and helpful staff than Café DuBarry

We made the mistake of reserving a table on Valentine's Day!! We were coming home from a trip and had no food at home, so we thought we'd catch a meal on our way in from the airport. Normally a smooth plan, but not on V Day! The restaurant was absolutely swamped with celebratory couples. We waited over an hour beyond our reservation time, before our table was ready. Having said that, the entire evening was delightful. The staff was clearly scrambling to keep up. The kitchen crew looked harried. There was a prix fixe menu for the occasion, which I didn't realize when I booked the reservation. People must have been lingering over all the courses. We only wanted an entree, and they were nice enough to accommodate us. Everyone waiting for tables (all standing, bar seating was full of diners) was friendly, and a kind of festive, clubby atmosphere prevailed. We gave each other tips on how long the wait had been, who was next in line, how to notify them of your arrival, etc. After a few requests, we could get glasses of wine while we were waiting. The guy who I assume is either the manager or the owner looks remarkably like Anthony Bourdain, and he was up to his elbows helping out. Once we were seated, the excellence continued. Despite all of them moving at warp speed, the servers managed to be quite accommodating and gracious. The food was excellent, and the wine was superb. They never acted like there were herds of people clamoring for the table. I have great admiration for the restaurant, and its efforts during what was clearly a stressful night. We want to go back again to experience Cafe Du Berry in its non-rushed glory. But they were quite glorious on Valentine's Day, despite the multiple challenges. Bravo, Cafe du Berry!!

Food was exceptional. Service was prompt friendly and recommendations were spot on. We started with the mushrooms in cream sauce on toast and it was so flavorful. The fresh lemon to squeeze on top really made the flavors pop and come to life. I never would have thought to have fresh lemon with this. We ordered the scallops and red snapper entrees. Both items were fresh and full of flavor. We especially liked the red snapper seasoning. The fresh veggies were green beans with a yummy seasoned butter. Josh our server was great at offering a wine sample to help us choose which red wine was best for us. The chef, Olivia ended up helping us when we paid our tab and it was fun to chat with her and learn her history and experience. This long time family owned restaurant is worth taking the time to visit. We will definitely be back.
